Xbox 360 launch party impressions

Street Fighter IV World Champion
It was held in a venue that used to be tourist hell-hole 'The Hippadrome', now called 'Cirque'.

Spacious and airy venue, decent crowd, and some great, GREAT tunes.

Overall, pretty downtempo until the midnight countdown, which upon hitting had ten seconds of pyrotechnics and some trailers of games we've all seen and know about on the on-stage screens.

Then it looked like a dodgy school disco.

The food was of a good standard - mini-burgers with good meat, some yorkshire pudings with steak slices inside and mini-popadoms with chicken chunks topped with Mango chutney. Everyone was having fun and the very hot and friendly girls on hand were giving seven minute massages for free. I had four.

All in all, it was a good place to catch up with old friends and acquaintances and they generously gave out goodie bags containing:

1 - Perfect Dark Zero Tin Limited Edition

2 - 1 of 600 limited edition faceplate which was part of a grafitti installation

All in all a fun night, though I definitely preffered Zero Hour. That was a way more chilled and natural atmosphere.

I will post pics in the morning, for now is 2:30am in the morning.

...Huh?...

No invite for me this time around :( I've just spent the last few hours of this night/morning writing for 'the opposition' in any case...

Sounds like it was a good laugh. Were there the usual clan of ever-present blagger journos (I swear, some friends/work mates manage to get into parties that they have no association with every single time), gaming celebs (Jono Ross this time around?) and drunken debauchery? And did Ed Lomas DJ again? :)

C.

I don't believe Lomas was on hand for deck-love. He freelances for T3 last I spoke to him (back in August).

In reply to Phranky:

I meant I had FOUR massages, each with a different girl, who massaged me for seven minutes at a time. They were excellent. Natalie, the only black girl of the group, was the best by a significantly large long shot. And the others were great.

Like I said, photos in the morning. Including some of the girls ;)

Once again we get the shaft........ every other damn place gets a box handle, I wanted a damn handle..... :P

Is that the Gary Cutlack that used to write for Xbox Gamer? He wrote some pretty funny features if I remember correctly.

Well, that hell hole gets some serious fit ladies that comes in for a dance and have a good time on a saturday night.

Also, Monday nights used to be triad 'come and stab people' night. Just so you know...

It's in the heart of all the shit of the West End. Maybe the clientelle's changed since the venue became 'Cirque', but I don't think I'll go in to find out...

I was over in the UK for that party. The party bag they gave out has 1 of 600 faceplates (like the other guy said) but it was done by whomever the guy is who does the Gorillaz graffiti and is numbered. Comes with a pic of the final huge graffiti installation so you can see where your faceplate was in the big scheme o things.

I plan to put the bag, PDZ and the faceplate up on eBay ASAP. ;)

Ouch, you're right. Seems no one wants a spraypainted faceplate that only looks good when viewed alongside the other 599 faceplates that formed the graffiti wall.

I wonder if my UK PDZ will play on my US 360... doubt it. Oh well.
