Xbox 360 reading original Xbox discs ERROR

So my 360 won't read any original Xbox discs. The discs aren't covered in scratches or anything and I have the update to play original titles. I tried Xbox support but it just points me in the direction that my discs are in bad shape. Which they aren't. 360 discs play fine. Have any of you had the same problem? Just checking if GAF can help me out.

I have had this problem. Did you use the HD transfer kit? When I transfered to my 120 gb hd, the xbox original patches that allow play on 360, specifically Halo CE and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory would fail to boot. In order to get them up and running, I have to switch back to my old 20 gb hd.

Na sure didn't. I don't know what's up with it. I have played 360 discs all day. But originals just don't work now. I get...

This original Xbox game has encountered a problem and can't continue. For more info go to xbox.com/support

If you have a memory unit, maybe try and install the back compat patches on that with your hard drive off. All I know is my attempts to reinstall the updates on my 120 are unsuccessful (I am unable to locate the files to delete); and yet when I pop on an alternative storage device everything is smooth. I get the same error message you quoted as well. Hope it works out for you.

Microsoft uploaded a patch removing OG Xbox support. You didnt hear?

Not true. You are confusing this with the taking down of the OG xbox servers. Back compat is still a go for offline modes.

Alright I'll give that a shot. Thanks, and I'll try and clean the disc again, even though it looks spotless.

I always appreciate sarcasm in threads where people are seeking genuine answers.
