Reality check. They sold every 360 made/shipped here. Every one made except for 100k or so in Japan. As expected. Going by your logic, they have just sold an extra 2-3 million 360s versus a Q1/06 release.jedimike said:Fairly dissapointing numbers.
Like others, I think a Q1 '06 release would have been much better.

In fact, no released game has yet.

gotcha... that was unclearjedimike said:I was talking about RR... however, since you mentioned console sales, those are also dissapointing. MS could have sold 3X as much had they had units at retail.
Yup, it's the next 360 title i purchase for sure.Project Midway said:anyway, COD2 deserves those sales. Its single player campaign is amazingly fun and looks and sounds awesome on a big HD screen and 5.1 setup.
jedimike said:No game released on any new system will show the system's "true potential". It takes time for devs to figure it out. Especially now, since developers are not used to multi-threading.

Just goes to show you what the preference is for most gamers.Borys said:And before anyone jumps on me for derailing this thread:
I was just surprised that not a stricte console game is at the #1 spot. A game that launched earlier on the PC. Not PGR3, PD:0 or Kameo.
I thought consoles are for console games ;p I know my PS2 is.
want a cookie? matrix was the #1 seller for PS2 japan launch. PSP shipped with free "spiderman" movie. gotta step down off the high horse dude.Borys said:And before anyone jumps on me for derailing this thread:

Or the fact that it's (constantly) running on every kiosk I ever saw...PhatSaqs said:Just goes to show you what the preference is for most gamers.

Pc gamers are clearly having the most fun right now too. So it doesnt hurt to try and copy.
Goreomedy said:It's actually the playable demo that paid off. At work, this game is all they talk about, and it's because of the kiosks.

Sean said:Namco was incredibly stupid to launch against not only NFS, but PGR (which was $10 cheaper). Even Sega had the brains to delay Full Auto to Q1 2006. On top of that, Namco did not advertise the game at all - not one print ad, online ad, or commercial. The only way people would even know the game was out would be by word of mouth. They could have at least released a demo or something.
Sega's new Western strategy is paying off so far with Condemned (I hope it does well enough for a sequel). There's still Full Auto, the Sillicon Knights project, and Bizzare Creations game too.
Most surprising is Kameo. Not the type of game Xbox owners play, piss-poor advertising, and a few mediocre reviews. To do over 70k already in just a week is really amazing imo. Hopefully it still continues to do well with word of mouth and all the new 360 owners in December.
probably will be more like 35-40VictimOfGrief said:Not to be a pussy or anything, but how long before the launch titles are considered "Silver" or will drop to $19.99 ~ $24.99?

are you kidding? most 360s being sold aren't for preteens purchased by mommy. They'll sell every 360 they make probably until PS3 ships. Then you'll see the same bitching next xmas about PS3 shortages.siamesedreamer said:If y'all think these numbers are bad, then just wait until the JAN and FEB numbers come in with the only people buying them being the EB/GS pre-order people who got fucked at launch. Sales are going to be abysimal after Christmas with that $400 price tag.
MS seriously fucked up with their WW launch idea and their manufacturing "problems".
Why they decided to alienate their most important market during the most important time of the year in a strategically opportune moment is beyond my comprehension.

Speaking of which.. Anyone know what the criteria needed to be considered a "platinum hit" anyway? (Which is what I guess you're referring to.)VictimOfGrief said:Not to be a pussy or anything, but how long before the launch titles are considered "Silver" or will drop to $19.99 ~ $24.99?

Still, there are other titles that do a better job of it (PGR3)... but as we know, that isn't used in demo kiosks.oldschoolpinball said:maybe people like COD2 because it really shows the 360's graphical power compared to the other titles?
Yeah RaYne, that's what I was refering to. I couldn't remember the freaking name.raYne said:Speaking of which.. Anyone know what the criteria needed to be considered a "platinum hit" anyway? (Which is what I guess you're referring to.)
Anyhow, I don't think it'd be anytime soon.

:lol I think the $40 price was a guess. As far as I know there hasn't been anything officially said about "next-gen" Platinum pricing.VictimOfGrief said:So... the above posters says $40 bucks for "platinum" hit huh? :lol
Borys said:Seriously, American audience does NOT care about japanese games, PERIOD. DQ8 bombs, RR6 totally bombs la bomba style...
Minotauro said:If this is the reason you chose RR6 over PGR3, you're retarded and you should probably stop playing games. Seriously.
gkrykewy said:Uh no - I chose RR6 because I've loved every RR game since the original on PSX, and have no need for a second arcade racer given the depth of it.
gkrykewy said:However, I am of the opinion - since the PS2 generation where 60 fps was really possible at home - that a 60 FPS framerate adds a lot to the experience and immersability, and is as must-have for an arcade racer (which is the only kind I play) as it is for a fighter. Seriously.
