Xbox 360 Specifications! - LIVE 2 info

Ok, so acording to this,

I'll have to keep my old xbox to play old xbox games - still undecided
I'll have to buy all new controllers - of course, nothing new
I'll have to purchase the HDD seperatly - hard drive/media player

Why Is This Being Taken As Fact?

Because It Hasn't Changed In Over A Year

Why are some of you assuming that BC won't happen? If its a software solution, it wouldn't appear on the hardware spec list...Am I wrong?

Ok, so how hard would it be for me to take that original information, add a little bit, change one or two things, and post it as fact?

It just says it's detachable, doesn't say it comes seperately (?) Seems a bit small to come seperately, IMO. Maybe it comes as standard? Hard to tell from this..

the new spec said:
- 256 GB/s memory bandwidth to EDRAM

interesting! no mention of 32 (or 48 total) GB/sec EDRAM bandwidth!

originally, the 256 GB/sec EDRAM bandwidth figure was mentioned as "equivalent bandwidth" and mentioned second, with 32 (or 48 total) GB/sec being mentioned first and formost.

but now, 256 GB/sec is the only figure given! unless i missed something.

has anything changed regarding EDRAM bandwidth?

(and I see that main memory bandwidth is still ~22 GB/sec but the FSB bandwidth has roughly doubled)

(yes the amount of RAM memory is still 512 MB, to avoid any possible confusion for someone skimming over this post quickly the above is about memory bandwidth, not memory amount :)

I see this being a really tough sell to casual consumers. Keeping in mind power goes out the window once the other systems are shown. Then its just time.
Well really a few things. First off games are the most important thing by far. Features, powers, whatever the heck else ever can be ignored if you have the killer apps and a steady stream of decent game to play coming out. Secondly how powerful something is doesn't matter, what matters is how powerful does the mass market think it is.

Why Is This Being Taken As Fact?
Cause BlimBlim said this was a leak and he's in the know.

The problem with bc has never been about the hardware... MS has stated that the hardware is powerful enough. It has more to do with legalities. If MS wants to use bc, then Nvidia would be owed money. IMO, the cost of the hard drive will be inflated enough to cover the royalty fee... much like MS did with the Xbox and DVD licensing.

Marketing also plays a huge role... if MS can convince the public that the sleek, new 360 is the machine to have, then people will flock to it despite the specs. (see iPod, PS2) The general consumer is blatently ignorant and will follow any market trend.

you do realize that, in terms of video output, those are the same things, right?

But it does mean an extra $$ for an adapter for those with one connection or the other in their brand new HDTV.

I don't know whether there would be any licencing issues, I had always figured the problem lay in an ATI chipset emulating features of a custom nVidia chipset.

Having two Live packages is smart. How many people are going to think they can play on Live whenever they want with the Silver package though? :lol

and by extra money hes not joking, were not talkin about a 20 dollar component/composite cable . they run over 100 bucks for a good one

is that a joke, or do you really believe this?

For reference, going from HDMI <-> DVI is trivial, and is simply pin reassignment. If you're dropping lots of money on this, you're getting suckered. HDMI simply is a smaller plug that also carries the audio signal.

Another thing :lol Xbox Live 2 will technically have a 100% attach rate! This will make next gen trolling that much more interesting and potentially confusing.

Will we see the 'Gold attach rate' as being the new criteria by which we can judge how useless or not the Live service is?

yup :lol :lol :lol

I realized that both are the same thing, only that HDMI carries video & audio; but the DVI - HDMI adapter is way to expensive. My TV only has DVI and I hope that the new XBOX supports it.

Well, I think you'll still need to subscribe (put your name and stuff in it), so some data will be actually there to judge

good points!

I dunno about your question though :lol

It's still like $30~50 (that's why I use two $ signs: less than hundred), and that's a game, damn it!

It's trivial but expensive. Adapters we sell at BB go for over $50 Cdn. That's the cost of a game right there.

I bought one for something like $20 online (if that) so I could use my HD cable box (DVI output only) with my HDTV (HDMI input only). I don't know how or why you people are paying so much - perhaps because you're buying the rip-off "monster" cable products?

What does WiFi ready mean? Assuming it doesn't mean it has WiFi built in (unlike the PSP), isn't a simple ethernet port enough for a system to be WiFi ready? Why the need to specify the WiFi thing?

Claimed to be cameraphone shot of PD0, from the gamespot boards...Looks like it could be PD on the N64 to me (though some of the texturing makes it hard to tell)? Didn't want to create a new thread in case it is just that ;)

On the other hand

Kudos for
-Having some live features for free
-Actual USB ports finnaly

One last thing,

Why Is This Being Taken As Fact?

Why would you have buy the HDD separately. Is there anything here that says so?

Cell will easily double that figure I'm sure, but I keep thinking that nGPU doesn't do any vertex calcs, so I think it'll even out quite a bit in the end.

Just kneel at the foot of your bed every night until the 16th and say a prayer.

Maybe it will come true for you. :D

99% sure thats n64. looks like that underground level where all the hallways were lined with pipes (cant remember the name), which was the second stage iirc.

OH TEH NO! I JUST GOT PWNEDEDED!!!

or did I? *DUN DUN DUUUNNN~~~*

The wall does have that sort of plasticy look though which I'm coming to expect from the next gen. I don't think the N64 had any textures like that.

It's either fake or really PD0, doesn't look like the N64 game anyway.

That's a fucking horrendous photoshop hack-job.

That's what I thought for a second. But, hey, free weekends is fine by me. That's when I play games the most :)

Seriously, X360 sounds so damn good, Both hardware wise and XBL, so very bought on day one. Good job MS, stick it to Sony. I want to see blood this gen.

This will be just one extra layer of confusion.

"Xbox Live only has X% attach rate"
"Watchoo talking about, everyone has Live"
"No they don't, only Y% of people have signed up"
"Bah, Gold members are the only ones that count"

aaaaannd REPEAT.

That seems like a gfx filter.

I'm thinking emulated PD at high res + photoshop...it certainly doesn't look like a next-gen PD. I hope that ain't it.
