I'll just point out that the majority of people who are on the internet use an overpriced, but feature-stacked service, like AOL. That's the mainstream. The same people who pay for overpriced channel availability from cable companies. That's the mainstream. Of course, this is only my opinion. However, this could extend to a lot of things people can and do subscribe to. I like XBL and find it worth the $50 a year it costs. That doesn't mean it can't be better for the price paid. Indeed, one of the things I want to happen next gen is that all of the consoles offer their own competitive services so that we'll see some additions and improvements to the existing services provided and increasing the bang for the buck effect.
