Xbox 360 unveiled, pics inside (Engadget)

It reminds me of the silver JVC SVHS VCRs from the mid 90s, only this actual picture doesn't look as metallic as the preview pictures (might be due to the lighting). I think it'll look fine in the regular horizontal position.

The onus is not on me to list every game console in existance and explain to you, someone who has yet to give any critique whatsoever, the reasons I feel that they are at best merely uninteresting.

It also occurs to me that you have yet to call out any other person in this thread re: asthetic taste.

had the Dreamcast had the 3rd party support that the Xbox has and MSFT's money and dedication backing it, along with some better security to prevent playing downloaded games on it, there is no doubt in my mind it wouldn't have ever folded.
 
does anyone remember that old pic of a system from a long time ago that looks exactly like the first PS2? the inference was that Sony stole the design. was that a fake? anyone have a pic of that still?
 
Nintendo fanboy/XBox hater here but I think the console looks nice. The controller on the phone pick looks ugly but it looks better on the other pic.

I'm liking that people hate it though. :D
 
I think I would be embarassed to have that in my living room. Gotta see what the PS3 is going to look like. Thought for sure I would get an Xbox 360. Not so sure now.

Given how huge many Nintendo-related threads are, I'd hazard a guess that Revolution's first pics will spawn a thread much larger than this is destined to be. It's new info about the next-gen. Can you really blame people for being interested in seeing what we're going to be playing or looking at for the next five to seven years?

yes i find it incredible that the first real picture of a brand new highly anticipated system would get 409 posts. this is ridiculous, i cant believe these nerds would actually post their opinions in this pathetic thread!

there will probably be a volume and mute control built into the headsets cord. if thats the case then Ill be disappointed because those types of headset always have that little bit of added weight that annoys me.

what Im gettin from the DC comparisons is that from early pics of the console it didnt look like much but once you see it up close its a damn sexy lil machine :D
 
Retro Science Fiction look to it. Clean, misshapen for no reason, obnoxious "look at me" power button.

The B-film fan in me actually likes this.

Console looks crappy.
Controller is good.
Don't compare it to be mac like. Apple makes better designs than this POS.

To be fair though, for the average casual gamer, the difference between PS2 and Xbox isn't that great, they both have exclusives and they would probably have a good time with either. This is especially true is somewhere like the UK where the EA games dominate the charts through the year. Here, image is important, it shouldn't be, but it is. 360 definite looks more feminine with all the curves compared with its angular predecessor.

As for the controllers, I think it's pretty hard to mess it up if they just refine the ones from the current generation, but does it look like it's adding anything significant?
 
I want a console that looks like it's not a console or a toy...or some pc look alike. It screams Dell PC.

FIXED, then AGREED.

The controller is brilliant functionality-wise, everything I wanted, however I really had wished they wouldn't insist on having fruity buttons and a space age design though. PlayStation controller is a great design but crap to use compared to Xbox.

I couldnt help but notice the color resemblance to Dreamcast myself. It makes me shudder for some reason. Xbox 360 doesnt look bad, but I wish they would make it another color to eliminate that Dreamcast feeling
 
The controller actually looks pretty decent... the system, though. It's huge and just plain ugly. I can't understand why though when M$ freaking has Apple on its side..

OTOH, Sony is the only one who's made a decent looking system to date.. And their PS3 design will simply smoke the X360 design.

I can't see how this crap is supposed to appeal to Japanese gamers, though. Didn't M$ learn anything the first time?

The japanese crowd lap up apple stuff like you wouldn't believe. Queues. I think they're trying to steal the ipod/shuffle mojo. Seriously... all white? :lol whooowadddoaathought.

I think my biggest problem with it now is the form factor. The colour I can live with. They can also release other colours. But the form will stick.
 
meh....not really doin it for me...i need a consol i can get off to :lol but seriously i think it looks ok i mean i thought it would look alot better but i really dont care consoles arent bout their looks they're bout the games.
 
I kind of like the design aesthetically, but it needs to be at least half it's current size to appeal to Japanese gamers. I mean seriously, MS should have had Apple design it for them..

And holy hell, it reminds me of the dreamcast and white saturn.
