I do a lot of graphic work so I'm pretty confident in my sense of taste, I can live with that.

Whatever dude, if you wanna revert to I'm this and I'm that to bypass your obvious bias, be my guest. If you wanna make anyone believe you're not close minded, then join the discussion and give reasons......

Looking good. That remote is promising too, it means that there will indeed be media center functionality.

The plastic on the controller looks too...shiny...um, it's hard to explain.
Yeah... I was thinking the same thing. I'm betting it's just because it's a prototype and isn't going to be the plastic in the final, which will almost certainly be the same plastic as the Type-S, since that's what they have and use in their factories. It probably wouldn't be economical to change.

I bet it was Elijah that leaked the snaps... using SNAP DS! he made himself invisible using the ring and got past security... or something!

O come on, you know they got it off his T-mobile phone. Hobbit/X-Box porn is going to pop up next.

So remind me again where you gave your XB360 critique.

I think it looks plainy nice.
If it's small, and it probably kinda is, then it would actually look quite good.
On the other hand, it looks very DELLish.

Sony's PS3 design will absolutely smoke this design, making it look like an ancient PC box.

The harddrive has changed colors again. Now it is a black color (stupid to make it different than the rest of the console).

I don't think this is a good enough quality pic (bad angle and lighting) to judge the colors on. The DVD tray looks black too in that shot, but in the real photos it is silver/chrome like the HD was.

This would be a first for a console to be meant to site taller than it is wide.
Not really. NEC's also white but absolutely gorgeous PC Engine FX came first :)

Is there a reason for the remote control to be IR instead of wireless in the same way as the controllers?

That'd mean I couldn't hide that thing. Ugh.

The bottom line is that this is the best looking Western console there has ever been, something to be proud of I guess. Means precisely shit if the range of games is identical to Xbox though.

It's ugly, case closed. What can we do about it? Nothing. Those saying it isn't ugly are running damage control.
I disagree about it being ugly. It's not mega, super sexy, but I don't think it's ugly by any stretch, though.

I don't need to give a critique. I have no bias towards XB360 or any other console, I take it as it is. They're all consoles, none of em are beautiful, none of em are blatantly ugly. You on the other hand stated everything except PS2/PSTwo was asthetically ugly, and gave no reasons as to why..... Hence you being close minded, until proven otherwise with distinct reasoning other than "I'm a graphics guy, I know everything"

damn, you're an idot. leave him alone. Who cares. He doesn't like it. Lots of people don't like the look.

pathetic ~x

I am down-right shocked the camera requires a cord. For having so many innovations and the use of wireless controllers, you would expect the camera to be wireless too.

Then you would need to feed it batteries or plug it into a wall. The way I see it, it makes more sense to plug it into the system for conneciton and power.

I would just like to point out, the other day in the thread of the first pics of the X360 controller, that where crappy pics, a lot of people got a bad impression on the controller.

But now that we have this clear pic of the controller, we all can see and agree (most of us anyhow) it's awesome now.

The point is, until we get a really good higher res, clear picture of the X360... especially in relation to things we know the size of so we can guage it's size more accurately... I wouldn't pass too much judgement.

One things for sure (for me at least) they fucking NAILED the controller! And to me, that's functionality... and as long as they nail those aspects, I could forgive a little plainess, or even ugliness in look.

Who are you? I heard no "Odnetnin please but into this conversation cue." I asked for an answer to a stupid assumption by someone not named Odnetnin, you are useless to me.

Yeah, I agree. The camera won't be moved around as much as the controller anyway...I mean, you don't usually hold the camera in your hands from a distance when using it, like a controller. :P

Surely you understand people have different tastes? Jeez, what you posted here is pretty moronic. Forcing your opinion down everyones throats and calling anyone else a liar. Guh.

Granted, I'm no big fan of the look, but I understand people like different shit dude.

No, I'm just on the side of the majority of opinions. How is that forcing something down someones throat?

In the world of Chittagong, tinted glass on entertainment cabinets has not yet been invented.

Yeah, the controller looks really promising, since it reminds me of the S-controller with my main concerns with the S-controller seemingly fixed. It will be interesting to see it from other angles, making the shoulder buttons visible for example.

If the port at the bottom of the controler is used for (amongst other things) plugging in the headset... since it's not plugged into its regular socket thing... how do you control the volume and mute function?

You would use the same rechargable system as the controller as I see it. Regardless, I just think it would be tacky to have one component on the system have a wire (save the console itself plugging in) while the rest are wireless (controller).

As long as the camera plugs into the back and not the two ports on the front, then I will deal just fine though.

You may be on the side of the majority of opinion, and that's fine, but when you say...

...you are calling anyone who doesn't think so a liar. Like, they actually don't like it but are not admitting it. That is how you are "forcing" your opinion on everyone.

Talk about grasping at straws.

:lol I think it's funny you seem to have some ability to tell people what their subjective opinions should be

The only stupid assumption so far you calling me out as riding Sony's cock. You asked for reasoning and I gave it via an edit, where's yours?

You expected me to look back pages for your edit afterward. Once a conversation starts, you don't go back pages and edit posts and then say "hey, I gave my reasoning" go back and read my edit.

Post replies to things AFTER, don't go changing shit back a couple pages and expect me to find it.

The PS2/Two is clean but not bland. It also doesn't announce itself with some huge logotype, it leaves that to the PS / 3 color badge which lends it some security in it's branding. Top section is nicely porportioned to the drive tray (with the horizontal bands), and the design is well balanced because of the ports on the left / small power & reset buttons + offset drive tray on the right. Because of the LED's on the top right the bottom blue USB ports are also inoffensive.

So you're saying PS2/Two was best because it was minimalistic and clean. How does that make every other damn console ugly as sin, as you so humbly acknowledge??

I'm sorry, but it is quite plain. Saying 'it's ugly and anyone who don't think so is running damage control' is exactly that. Whether you admit it or not.

It's true. Instead of simply just stating your opinion, you go on and make a blanket statement about those who disagree with your opinion.

i agree with shpankey, its a fucking opinion and like you, everyboody has a right to their own one, so if someone says they like it, respect it and stop determing it as damage control, which is complete and utter bullshit, who cares that the console isn't visually appealing, look at the PS2 (the original) and now look at it's software library

Okay, I did make a blanket statement. I take that back. But it's still ugly. :D

We'll see if anyone can do better in a short time. Atleast Sony should show the casing.

It's not ugly, just completely uninspired. PS2 aesthetics (I remember when tons of people laughed at those who said they liked that the PS2 could be placed on its side when it was revealed) in a Mac-like shell. Also reminds me of these two items:

"It's not dead!"

I cant believe it still has a chrome cd tray. That thing is as garrish as a big fat mole on someones nose. Why the hell would you go with white grey green and chrome as a color scheme? You've got all this matte color and then HELLO IM VERY SHINY IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR SYSTEM.

i think the two little doors on the bottom of the system are for USB stuff, and i bet the camera\controllers are all USB

What's so offensive about this design? At worst it's just 'there'.

Are people turned off by it not looking overtly like a game console?

Don't laugh but I think some of the MS produced mouses have neat industrial designs, somehow I don't think same people were behind design of this?
They obviously tried to make Xbox360 somehow 'stand out' from other consoles, but flowervase-like shape, hugeass powerbutton and that black HD thing were definately wrong choices.

It looks good to me. Will it play DVD movies out of the box this time or still require an overpriced remote?

Assuming this is a real photo (and it's always dangerous to assume anything):

Personally, I don't care for the aesthetics of the console. My biggest complaint is the color -- white? If they wanted to go for a different look, silver would have been much better. The vast majority of home theater equipment (mine included) is either black or silver, so a white console is simply not going to go with anything. Mixing color schemes (black/chrome accents?) also is ugly, in my opinion.

I don't care for the curved sides, but that's a nit, I suppose. More troubling is the vertical orientation, since there is no way that it would fit into my HT rack. I'm assuming that it can be put onto its side...but since the design of the console seems to be primarily vertical, it will look a little funny.

Color scheme aside, the controllers look terrific. I don't have an Xbox, so I don't have a personal opinion about Controller Type S, but it looks functional and clean.

If this thing does have integrated PVR capability, I certainly hope that it is capable of recording HDTV broadcasts. That would almost make it a must-buy, regardless of the games.

I don't like the idea of having a camera connected to a networked device, period. How long will it be before people start hacking Xbox 360 to get shitloads of voyeur pictures?

in the end it doesnt matter, but this is essentially a reaction thread to what the xbox360 looks like. so people are gonna say "it sucks" or "its not bad".

I was hoping this generation would have slot loading drives. Wonder why they chose a tray? Cheaper I guess? Slot loaders just look so nice. Plus you would have less problems with scratched disks and stuff I would think.

all the DC comparisons are pointing to what exactly? that this will be a failure?

but the DC itself was a great console, would have been fantastic if continued for two more years. surely most agree with that?

anyway, can we assume the same finish as the controller on the actual box as well? that could be pretty nice, shiny milky white.
