Very nice. This is a HUGE leap over LIVE in terms of unifying the services and community.

Also, note the "Add Points" down below. That's probably where you purchase points in bulk to spend later on those infamous microtransactions.

Some interesting(?) stuff I noticed:

- 2 new maps ready to download for PD:0
- beat SOME_GAMER_NAME in PD:0 and win a free 360 faceplate
- Co-op in PGR3

I love that they've integrated arcade into the dashboard this time, that feature is sure to waste my money and time no end..GAF TEXAS HOLD'EM TOURNIES!

Now that's slick. That control of the visualizer could be very useful. I can see alot clubs adding HDTVs with xboxes to play music.

video messages. yeah i think im gonna have to be cautious opening random videos

sends wario a video of me shaving my privates... wheres your cheap ass games now bitch?

Im starting to think you have to use the media extender for videos..which means having a media center PC

Yes, that has already been confirmed. You can use any flavor of XP for Photos and Music, but you need Media Center for all the other multimedia stuff.

Really? That fucking sucks if true. It was one of the features I was most hyped about. Being able to send vid to the Xbox for viewing, now I can't even stream cause I've only got an XP system. That blows :(

It's NOT true - you just need XP.

When the search function is turned back on, search for XP and 360, I'm sure it will turn up. Read it in multiple articles linked in the carnage right after the PC.

I just went and read the spec sheet from MS. I swear it said Media Center edition of XP for streaming videos... now it just says any version of XP. :D

360 just keeps getting better and better... sorry for the mix-up.

It actually says:

Xbox 360 instantly streams the digital media stored on your MP3 player, digital camera, Media Center PC, or any Microsoft® Windows® XP-based PC.

It doesnt actually say video from any XP machine (that i can find)

and on the entertainment page it says:

Stream recorded television, videos, movies, music, and photos from your Windows® XP Media Center PC straight to your Xbox 360. Enjoy all your digital entertainment on demand throughout your home with one integrated system.

with no mention of standard XP options.

This is what worried me originally, coupled with the fact i havent seen "video" on any of the pictures of the media pages, i really hope you can use XP to stream video (it might work out that way, all this stuff is just semantics and mock-up GUIs) but i cant see anywhere microsoft have specifically stated that is the case.

from factsheet...

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox360/factsheet.htm

Digital entertainment: Amplify your music, photos, video, and TV. Watch progressive-scan DVD movies right out of the box. Rip music to the Xbox 360 hard drive and share your latest digital pictures with friends. Make the connection, and Xbox 360 instantly streams the digital media stored on your MP3 player, digital camera, Media Center PC, or any Microsoft® Windows® XP-based PC.

if you could stream from XP without MCE, you could stream from earlier versions of windows too...

edit:
Factsheet also says: Wi-Fi ready: 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g

when we know that doesnt mean what it says exactly...

Amplify your music, photos, video, and TV

Well you'll definitely need Media extender to watch the recorded TV, so that first sentence definitely isnt the proof we need.

Is it me or it looks way too much pc-ish? I mean, I don't care, but I expect something a little more stylized for a console, maybe some 3D tabs, glossy 3D buttons and all that.

A little, yeah. I think it looks pretty stylish. When I think about a PC-ISH menu I think of the PSP XMB media bar. With the icons it reminds me of a PC menu. PS3 is supposed to have something similar. This looks sleek in comparison.

Good user interface and all....but I'm a little tired of Microsoft hyping the dashboard/Xbox Live/Customize your xbox/Make t-Shirts/play checkers stuff......seriously, I just want good graphics and good games. They did this with the Xbox too...hyping the dashboard. Sure, a cool dashboard and other things help, and MS delivered with the Xbox, but I'm tired of hearing about irrelevent things.

That "play video message" is frightening....

*imagines opening up a video message, only to be greeted by some dude performing goatse*

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Dashboard is hardly irrelevant...especially considering how much time we will looking at it now. I would say that it is very important aspect and MS should be hyping it. The games will come. MS has proven that with Xbox.

The way I understand it is that the references to MCE and recorded video/TV refer to watching MCE-recorded video/TV. If you download a TV show (for shame!), you can stream that to the 360 off of a regular XP machine. What I haven't seen answered is how codecs/updates will work, although it seems that most of the (popular) codecs are fairly complete at this point.

screw next gen, I want to ride Jedi's quad!!! No rendering!

I like the UI, btw. But I like LIVE a lot, I've never had any worries about that part of the Xdude.

looks very similar to the Media centre menu.

It does look good but at the same time, seems a bit too complicated for the average gamer to use.
