Brand new ones come factory charged with solar energy
Haha that sucks. While the ones I got a few months ago said they were factory charged (by renewable energy) they still had to charge for an hour or so till the lights turned off. For some reason my controllers always report them as 80-60% charged for weeks at a time.
Which sticks are you guys using? I was thinking about using the tall stick for my right analog stick.

I'm on H4 controls on the Elite controller as well. The following buttons were mapped:
P3 -> A (so jump is on a paddle)
P1 -> LB (so boost is on a paddle)
P2 -> X (so reload is on a paddle)
P4 -> Y (so weapon switch is on a paddle)
LB -> B (so crouch is on LB, crouch is less important than boost imo)
RT -> Trigger stop engaged for less travel time to shoot
LT -> Sensitivity lower by 5 so I throw grenades on accident less
With this control setup I don't have to take my fingers off of the joysticks at all...once I retrain muscle memory to not move my right thumb toward the face buttons and memorize my layout (which is the easy part). Right now I feel like a bumbling moron trying to play, sometimes pressing paddles while still reaching for a face button. I know that I could be doing better out of the gate with just a default controller, but then I can also tell that when I get the paddle use as second nature I will be a better player than without. The minute amount of time being saved by not moving your thumb between face buttons and joystick, and the ability to aim while able to do other actions it should make a noticeable difference.
As far as the future ability to assign a paddle to take a screen shot or record video, it is likely tied to the 2016 programmable button feature of the chat pad.
When you look at the pages (amazon) for the chat pad, it specifically notes that this feature is coming 2016 and is not available at launch of the chat pad. One would think they will include such a feature on the elite.
The build quality alone makes the price, this thing is awesome. Still playing with the sticks and paddles trying to find the perfect setup. My brain just isn't wired for buttons on the bottom yet, starting with two reload and weapon switch for H5.
Do you really think it feels much different, apart from the new pieces?
I find it sort of disappointing. I thought that maybe the buttons would have microswitches like a mouse, or at least the dpad would be improved. It kind of feels the same go me, with the added pieces of the paddles and hair triggers.
It's definitely an improvement, but I'm not sure that I think the build quality feels much better than the regular controller.
Not exaggerating -- every controller outside of the Elite feels like a cheap toy to me now. This controller is amazing. The biggest surprise was the softer/smoother material. HUGE difference.
Can somebody please explain to me what hair triggers are?

triggers activate without being fully depressed (about halfway but it can be customised through the software too)
I see, thanks. Sounds pretty neat.There is a switch on the back for each trigger that cuts the travel distance of the triggers in half.
You can also change the settings within the app to modify the activation range of the triggers further. So you could have it consider only a very small amount of travel from base position be the entire 0-100 input range.
Didn't preorder, any ideas where I can find one of these for retail price? Seems to be sold out everywhere:-(
Microsoft Store seems to be the place to go according to quite a few people here.
Give 'em a ring.

I really like the look of that d-pad. They should make it the standard on the pleb controllers too.
It works way better than I expected. I already prefer the thing to the regular directional pad.
Thanks Microsoft Store. No one in Phoenix had them I walked in on a whim and got the last 2.

edit: make these a thing
You were the one! I walked in 5 minutes after you to get one! The guys said someone walked out with two! I now have to wait until Thursday!
PM me its yours
Am I just crazy or can anyone else not tell the difference between hair trigger mode and regular mode?
Props That's a cool thing to offer to someone.
Not sure how you can not tell the difference. It's pretty drastic. Fifty percent reduction in travel distance. It's incredibly noticeable for me.
Can you physically feel the difference or is it only evident in gameplay? I don't have a system to test with right now, but just clicking the triggers on the controller I can't feel any difference.

I'm staring at this thing and I honestly can't tell any difference whatsoever. Nevermind, I'm an idiot. I was thinking it was modifying the paddles, not the triggers. Whoops!Absolutely you can feel it. Make sure you have slid the little sliders all the way. Hold the controller so you can see the trigger sink into the controller. If it's engaged, trigger will only go half way in. If it's not, the trigger will go almost all the way in.
Since UPS is incapable of release day deliveries from amazon I won't have mine till tomorrow so much for the benefits of Prime.
