Microsoft are now finishing off their work on a upgrade for Xbox Live.

Internal Microsoft sources has admitted that they are busy finishing a upcoming Xbox Live patch. It will fix bugs and errors people have been having with their console.

It will fix achievements bugs as several players have yet to get their deserved achievements and points for tasks succeeded. Also, it will prevent certain games from freezing.

But the patch also bring new features. There's talk about downloads happening in the background( ) aswell as support for webcamera. Supposedly Microsoft will launch their webcamera just as the patch is released, something that is due to happen very shortly.

Microsoft has of course not gone out in public with this info as of yet.

MS has always been good about regularly updating Live. The XBL we have now is so much better than what we got in 2002 and I'm sure the XBL we have in 2008 will be tons better than what we have now.

The achievement thing is interesting... I always just assumed that it was a developer problem. I wonder if the patch is updating individual titles or if there was an inherent problem with XBL itself.

Since I won't be using the camera, and I'm sure it is blockable if you don't want to see others, who cares?

Regarding party chat, I guess if they don't fix it soon I'll be using Street Fighter II's 'virtual arcade' as my dashboard chat room.
