Asha has not been in power long enough to declare that she has done more for Xbox. Right now, it's all talk, hopes and dreams.

Does that mean no PC Ports of Xbox games? I'm confused, the pc gamer in me wants all the Xbox titles on PC but i also know that why buying an Xbox when you can play the games better on PC?
 
Fuck me. The state of this company.

If they wanted to make a statement develop a blade ui option.

Want to do something cool? Have promotional boot ups, ie "Sega!" Or the dreamcast swirl to promote deals or upcoming remakes. Have the option of past gen x box boot ups.

Or you know, give us a few decent games.
 
All little neat improvements add to the overall experience, said it for years , so it's nice to see some progress in that regard.

Let's see how the actual content turns out, it was very tiresome with the list of excuses repeated from the last leadership and their sycophants.

Yup. And that kinda piss me off tbh. What has been their plan??? I like Gamepass, and quite a few of their games, but most things Phil & Co has done the last decade has just pushed me away from Xbox.

They still have a mountain to climb to get me to move away from Steam though. From my perspective Gabe is the final boss for basically everyone in the industry at this point.

I am in the camp of wait and see. She is still launching Phil's console and still launching it with the same Phil-osophy that PC (and other services like streaming) are Xbox. I do not have high expectations on the console side but I hope it brings me a good option for a new Windows based gaming PC alternative.

Yeah, Phil Spencer acted like he provided God's gift to console at launch and then when the market didn't treat it as such, he pretty much gave the thing the cold shoulder.

Hate to say it but you are right... i felt like Spencer was a decent rep in his earlier days and it just kept going downhill since like halfway through his run. Don't know if this was due to pressure for higher margins or what but its crazy to see actual positive momentum again for the brand.

I hope she can add some exclusive features or games to make the purchase feel more obvious. The selling point especially if you already have living room PC is weak from what we know right now.
But I feel like this is truly the final Xbox, so I want it. I just hope they can go out with a real bang. No holding back this time.

I just don't think he really had a plan other than "buy stuff". He had basically no eye for quality when it came to games, but he was a decent presenter I'd say.

It was his(?) push to Game Pass. They really misunderstood the market. The signs were there that the majority of gamers were not going to go streaming. They went full throttle at the expense of the Series X. I know I come across as anti Xbox sometimes but I am disappointed in how they handled EVERYTHING this generation. All while Phil was winning awards. That is why I am not sold on Asha yet. Like I said earlier, she is still launching Phil's console and vision of Xbox everywhere.

Yeah, I agree. I'm leery of any CEO who says they are "still learning", but I'll give out the props when they are earned. Her change in direction for Xbox highlights the level of ambivalence for the console under Spencer more than anything else. She isn't setting the world on fire. At least she acts like she gives a damn.

I don't see it that way. Xbox fans (I am one) want to see her as the savior of Xbox... EXACTLY as how they saw Spencer in 2014 and for years... People were like "hey he has a Skyrim Tshirt !!! Obvious proof that he is a TRU3 GAM3R!!!", all people overhyped "Good Guy Phil" for YEARS, and at the end...

I feel it's the same for her, any little thing "OMG AWESOME", I like the new logo but... It's a logo... Does it solves everything... well ANYthing about Xbox ? Sales are still shit, the consoles are still too expensive, the exclusives are still gone, the closed down studios are still closed, the fired people are still fired... But yeah, 2$ discount on gamepass and a green logo, cool.

I'll need more than this to start to appreciate her work for Xbox. :)

I don't disagree, but I'm highlighting the lack of anything from Phil Spencer this gen when it comes to Xbox consoles more than anything else. He did more to tell folks NOT to buy consoles then he did promote them. Yeah, the gaslighting response to all that was hilarious. Jury is still out on Asha, but at least she is trying to generate some excitement.

It started out okay, pre-launch hype was good.

But it was quite telling when he said that they lost the most important generation. He had already given up. That was odd even if he had a point. The top head can't say stuff like that.

Imagine if Nintendo had said the same thing after WiiU.
But Nintendo didn't give up, they just ended the generation in less than 5 years and created the Switch juggernaught.

You think the move from console was Spencer? I always assumed that Nutella and Hood pioneered this.Once things got out of hand Spence and Co swept under the rug and rebooted. They couldn't keep Spencer for a rebrand at this point. I'm not saying some of this wasn't under Spencer, the games took a long time to get going and the catalog was all over the place. I'm not even sure he championed Gamepass more than he was given a mandate but was given the ability to buy more studios because of it. Either way MS is a multi headed beast and too much changes in that organization to be consistent it seems with the way they handle things.
