MS better put all of these details on the box, because parents will buy it not knowing any of this. Fiascos will happen.
They'll make you pay for hd/4k re re re releases. Bc is dead. Publishers are now going for maximized profits and that basically means you are just borrowing games for 60$ for a few years.Honestly the only reason the no used game thing bothers me is because how future proof is this system? In 10 years when there's a new system out will I still be able to play my old games? Also will these games always be available digitally? I love playing old games from time to time and not being able to do this seems tragic. I guess emulators?
Specifically USA because half the services don't work in Canada.
NeoGaf is still a minority in the large scheme of things.
One of the most vocal and knowledgeable minorities, but a minority.
The X1 will sell to the casuals in great numbers in the US and UK, especially if there is a subsidized price plan. And the publishers probably know that, even with this pro-publisher DRM solution. And it is something they want enough that Sony not playing ball in some way (note NOT the SAME way) could lead to seeing the X1 had numerous exclusives, timed or real, extra support, etc... just so the publishers can promote sales on the platform they prefer.
Like it or not, it is a pretty easy business choice when you look at the numbers.
ms is taking the advantage of idiots and i like it. Good step indeed for business.
I still want one. these policies do not effect me in the slightest. I don't sell games, xbox is always online for me so it's fine for me.
day 1 for this and the ps4 as well. I'm in it for the games, not the politics.
this is not a defense of microsoft but rather a criticism of a ridiculous argument
if your internet is regularly out for 24+ hour increments, then you have far larger problems than not being able to play your xbox in this hyper-connected day and age
a broadband connection is practically mandatory in the 21st century.
Wow this isn't too bad at all really? Right? Am I right
after this the ONLY reason to buy an xbox one would be if the OS of the ps4 is a total bullshit and dosnt have any of the thigns of the xbone
but this will never happen
MS as a big xbox brand supporter....im saying ...you have failed hard this time
ms is taking the advantage of idiots and i like it. Good step indeed for business.
Pc only where drm alreadyrules?

Yeah sorry, I didn't mean to say it should. My point is, here's the reason why I won't buy one and I don't like the dismissive attitude of people here that are basically telling us to "deal with it" and "stfu". I am very disappointed to not buy one, and I'm worried about my console gamer future. If Sony pushes something similar, and it looks like they may, I'll be done with 28 amazing years of couch gaming. And it breaks my heart. Maybe I'm just too old and the kids will love it, what do I know ?This is a very niche corner case. Let's not pretend it's common or a prominent use case. I don't doubt some people do it, and it certainly sucks for them, but I don't think that angle is of high concern.
I care about using it today, but also tomorrow. Nobody ever buys a product like this for using it just for today.
2. My country does not have access to Xbox Live, will I still be able to buy games from the cloud? Or I'm getting the middle finger?
I am concerned about the future prospects of my potential investments on the Xbox One as a platform.
I put in money today, just to have their policy revised and the servers being switched off sometime in the future.
And given the money mongering attitude of guys such as EA, God only knows what they will up to.
I am out as a consumer from the MS ecosystem. If Sony does it , out from there as well.
Good question. I suspect that no Live = no Cloud = Middle finger.
Exclusives and if Kinect and the media interface is a draw to you. I can see a decent number of people picking it up for that reason.
Oh I definitely do.I'm not even talking about backwards compatibility. If the system needs to check whether I own the game ever 24 hours... then what if they stop supporting that and I can't play my games. See my point?
In which case it will be reciprocal.
Fuck buying games from Xbox Live. Good luck buying games from your local store.
every xbox user inside of him (im the first) know that sony ps had, have and will have more exclusives
we kept defending ms hoping they would adjust their route....but no...they didnt listen didnt understand...
also if the new kinect 2 look good enough isnt anymore that "WOW ITS SOMETHING NEW" that excited millions of users...and ps4 is going to sell a dual camera too
media interface? here in italy i still use the xbox 360 just for 2 apps (that soon will be also on my ps3)
in the most of the world ppl dont r excited about football games and nfl partership ( in europe we watch soccer )..espn and other shit that we dont watch and dont want
in most countries of the world...netflix dosnt work ...and where it works..the most used device was the ps3...
i dont know what kind of partnership xbox one will have...but i really dont see and cant imagine they have somethign that could be a "game changer"
honestly ...xbox one failed hard
Thank you Microsoft for finally spelling out your policies at last.
Well that's the xBone crossed off the shopping list for good.
Your move Sony...
So if Sony pulls similar, you'll buy neither console? really?
I can't see it to be honest. A game will come out that sets the gaming world on fire and most of us won't be able to resist. The bullshit they are pulling will become less and less important to all of us rapidly degrading everytime a 'last of us' is released and scores 10s across the board.
This is the new normal. What is really terrible is they just could have avoided this by allowing you to play from disc and only from disc if they wanted. Just push digital sales and they would have what they wanted.
Well someone needs to forward the memo that people aren't going to pay $60 for games that you can't trade in.
Honestly the only reason the no used game thing bothers me is because how future proof is this system? In 10 years when there's a new system out will I still be able to play my old games? Also will these games always be available digitally? I love playing old games from time to time and not being able to do this seems tragic. I guess emulators?
Kayle, you have seen the light
I asked you the same thing on N4G a few months ago.

not sure if anyone on GAF really follows Blunty but it seems he's taken the same path as Total Biscuit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et8X0H6JslY
new video he just put up where he pretty much sides with Microsoft and insults those who disagree with him
what is with some these bigger name (sorta?) youtube gaming personalities siding with Microsoft on this crap?
Oh I definitely do.
Technically it's not your game. You buy a license already on current systems. All you own is the plastic case, manual and disc but not the content on the disc.
So what I would imagine would happen is pretty much nothing as I expect some ridiculous Terms you will have to agree to play games, which will allow MS to take away more of your rights. So when the check-in service stops, so will your license. Welcome to next gen gaming...
Let me shoot you a scenario.
The Xbone just checked your system 23 hours and 50 minutes ago.
Your internet just went out. In 10 minutes you have to have your system checked.
Is this not a real scenario? Doesnt have to be out for 24+ hours. Just has to be out enough that the Xbox cant check.
Correct?
