They will never sell an Xbox One without the Kinect. It's the only differentiation they have over the PS4. If the tried to sell a Kinect-less system at the same price, you would be left with a device that compares unfavorably to its competition.

There is no voice chat with 360 and Uno. You can text chat however.
And enjoy the benefits of that OS while gaming on the 360, bless you MS for putting in that HDMI-in port.

I want a free Xbox One. Currently I'm having to wait till Christmas because I don't have the money to pay for it entirely by myself.
Well I've been off live for quite a while now, like two or so years. I've had my Xbox since like 2006-2007, I'm more of a ps3 person but I got a 360 for LO and Tales so I casually play my 360 currently so I was surprised. Even my current tenure says 0 years because I haven't had live in so long.
I'm not sure about games to get O.O... I wasn't planning on getting a One yet.

MS have been giving away free X1s to certain people. I'm not sure what the exact conditions are though. I think they send you an email and a message on Live if you win one.

Ugh, cancelled my Amazon Day One Preorder a few months ago due to work/financial limitations. Now I'm feeling like an idiot- so many good launch games coming out and I hate to be on the sidelines. What's the best strategy in picking one up on launch night? I'm totally down with waiting outside for a midnight launch.

Start hitting up your local best buys about stock. I assume they will have some stock for people who did not reserved. Assuming that is the case, if you have time to spare, line up early Thursday. I don't know where you live, but I drove by when the PS4 was launching, and the line began at 6pm at my local BB.
