Xbox One will include TWO AA batteries

Has anyone had a PS3 controllers battery completely die on them and not take a charge anymore? It was always the doomsday story people told but it never happened to anyone I know. My Japanese import DS3 from early 2008 is still going strong.

My launch DS3 no longer charges. I have to use a long USB cable and use it as a wired controller. Didn't want to buy a new controller this close to new consoles launching. Most likely had to do with me leaving it uncharged for long periods of time since I did most of my gaming on 360 this generation.

That's actually what killed my DS battery by leaving it uncharged for so long.

I replaced mine by following a simple how to video online.

Not impressed with M$ doing the AA route again. I'd have let them off if they'd have included a rechargeable option in there so you yourself can decide but this stinks of money grabbing from accessory sales.

Just buy a DS3 battery online. It is easy to replace.

It's time to move on breh.
Quick swapping depleted rechargeable batteries for a charged pair off the wall charger and keeping on playing wireless is the superior method breh. Plugging a cable to charge a controller is the most awful shit. If there's anything MS does right is this.

Simply measuring how many of something is a very blunt way of determining quality. Sure, Xbox one appears to have 100% more battery, but is it that simple?

What is the storage capacity on the Xbox one version compared to PS4? I think dualshock 4 was said to have a 1000mAh battery. If Xbox one ships with generic budget batteries, their combined capacity may be less than that.

How about bandwidth? Although controllers are a low power device, how fast could the two batteries discharge if you really pushed them?

And don't forget that the lithium ion batteries in the dualshock 4 are a much newer technology than AAs. The architecture is significantly more advanced. Having two separate batteries can't be as efficient as a single unified pool of battery.

My friends cousins brother who is dating a girl who works deep with the Xbox architecture team told him that Microsoft have found away to improve the Xbox performance and that we may infact get a 3rd battery included in every box.

...not one...but TWO AA batteries?? Damn....MS is surely breaking out the fine china on THIS one to please consumers. Next gen = won

fuck off with AA battery packs, jesus.
AA gives you a fair bit of choice though; various types of rechargeable battery which are replaceable or an actual battery pack. But that said, I've not had any issues with the built in PS3 controller battery; the dual shock version didn't have the best battery life though.

Those batteries will be from Sony:

you left out the rest of the press release

The ps4 batteries have also been designed to feed back any excess power into the gpu using a proprietary system they have developed between polyphony and red bull f1 team.

This kers system will enable to ps4 to be 25% more powerful than the standard base ps4 at peak gaming performance.

Nah, they will work on doritos rod putted in mountain dew liquid. I call it special sauce reaction.

My GBC took 2 AA batteries and according to this highly scientific test it had the best battery life of any portable, Wikipedia also backs up the 35 hour figure.

I'm 89.3% sure that the GBC screen and infra-red port used exactly the same amount of power as the XBox One controller's wireless technology, therefore that's 35 hours of entertainment straight out the box. That's backed up by reliable science not vague promises and buzzwords.

In conclusion it's about time there were more AAs.
