The Master Chief Collection and Ori and the Will of the Wisps can be played with their enhancements from any external drive.OK, sweet, so I can transfer Gears 1-3, Blue Dragon, Dragon Age 1 & 2, Witcher 2, Ori 1 (plus any of the older Gold stuff) to the external SSD, but I should keep: MCC, Gears 5, Forza 4, Destiny 2, Halo 5, Ori 2 & Phantasy Star2 on the SerX HD because they are Series X updated?
What about Final Fantasy XIII and Lost Odyssey? Should I keep them on the Ser X HD because f the update files?
Do I lose any performance gains (loadign times, etc) booting them from the external SSD rather than the SerX drive?
Sorry for all the questions, I've always been primary a PS guy and just bought XBox's because, but this gen, I'm trying to put some effort in so I bought a bunch of $hit, lol.

In addition to those, certain other cross-gen enhanced games like Rocket League and Sea of Thieves can too.
Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4 need the internal drive.
You can check which enhanced games must be stored on the internal drive by clicking start/pause/options on the game tile, then clicking ‘file info’.
If it says ‘gen; Durango’ / ‘console type; XboxOneGen9Aware’ it can be played from any external drive. If it says ‘gen; Scarlett’ / ‘console type; gen9’ it’s internal only.

They will load slower but they still load a lot quicker than on XB1. XB1 games seem to load faster as well on a external drive than they did on the Xb1 console, so its a win alround compared to last gen machines.Good info, TY.
Do you know if there are any loading time losses by moving the 360 game onto the external drive?
Nice, I just wanted to clear HD space for Borderlands 3 that I picked up at Target for $10 and Wolfenstein 2, which I picked up at WalMart for $5, lol. Plus I have a copy of Kingdoms of Amular on way as well as Magna Carta 2, which I overpaid for on AmazonThey will load slower but they still load a lot quicker than on XB1. Avowed will not drop this year(its targeting late 2022-early 2023), but Starfield may be a 2021 title.yeah, I'm all set with games on XBox until Avowed/Infinite drop later this year.
I’m not sure if you’re using a HDD, I use a SATA SSD and there’s barely any difference in loading compared to the internal. Digital Foundry did a comparison video, the difference is nominal.Good info, TY.

You’ll continue to get varied opinions but my vote is to play them in release order. I wouldn’t skip 4 & 5 like many others suggest. I feel the hate for those entries has a lot to do with nostalgia clouded memories sprinkled with a dislike of 343i/MS. I never played any halo campaigns until the MCC collection released and I enjoyed them all. What’s the play order through the Halo games? I’ve seen some say to play the way they are listed in the collection, Halo 3 ODST before 3 or play by release date.
Agree with this, 4&5 get shat on from people who like the original games and don’t like change. However, objectively they are still very good games, rated 87 & 84 respectively on Metacritic. You’ll continue to get varied opinions but my vote is to play them in release order. For Honor is now XSX optimized, running at 60 fps, super smooth.
SSD is part of the reasons the games load faster on XSX, the rest is the difference the CPU makes helping the game move and uncompress data and help the game engine load it at runtime. They make quite an impact for BC titles. They will load slower but they still load a lot quicker than on XB1. Try Morrowind or Deadly Premonition from the internal one... mouth watering... .Yeah, I’ve just compared loading Batman Arkham Knight and Battlefield Bad Company 2 on my PC SATA SSD vs Xbox Series S USB HDD. Both games were noticeably quicker on the Xbox! I was agog at how fast they are.
Dudeeeeeeeee, check out the Philhawk!
Yeah, GOTY. So many ways to do quests and eventually to end the story, the humour, attention to detail and, of course, the gameplay. Is it just me or did Wasteland 3 get snubbed on a lot of Best Of lists this year? Plays great on Series X, and an amazing game all around (imo). Deserved more praise...

Also FO3. Loading is almost nonexistent and it makes playing so much better.
The only time I ever had a CTD on my Series X was in FO3, but it was only one and after about 150 hrs playtime instead of dozens of crashes on the 360. Old games on new consoles is drastically improved and much more enjoyable.
Yeah and we had another baby earlier this year but looks like we have to wait until this next year's tax return to get stimulus for her because she wasn't on our last years return (just in case anyone is in same boat as me and didn't know)Looks like you scoundrels got your stimulus checks. XBOX Elite 2 controller is on backorder.

That being said my stimulus bought 0 games related items, literally went 100% towards general bills. This year was rough but at the same time was very good in helping us get our debt paid down.
Congrats on the baby !
Most people couldn’t tell if it’s there or not, so they have to make sure to emphasize it as a feature.I hate the fact that now every game has to point now that they have "Ray tracing"
Should finally be getting the Series X on Monday and will be playing Gears 5: Hivebusters as I have read and seen nothing but great things about it so im looking forward to playing it. Anyone else played it?
It feels like a prequel to the escape game mode. It really should have been there at release to introduce you to the characters and story you play through in that mode.Should finally be getting the Series X on Monday and will be playing Gears 5: Hivebusters as I have read and seen nothing but great things about it so im looking forward to playing it. Yeah, it is pretty great. As I said it before, it feels like a really fun B-movie version of Gears. It’s short and full of action. Also, looks amazing.

I feel all weird about it but I actually think Immortals: Fenyx game is like ... quite good actually ... was not expecting this. I'm playing it on the XSeX and it's been a blast so far.
