Xbox PC store's biggest problem is its inconsistency

For example, it has Re2/3/7 but not Village for some reason. Da fug MS? Also missing all the From game, stuff like Hogwarts Legacy, and for some reason Silent Hill f is on there but not MGS Delta? Really weird choices MS.

That its a bag of mince is its biggest problem, not that its missing some random titles.

Also why would you want to buy/preorder games like that from the most expensive store on the internet?

The ability to even sort and discover content in general is an even bigger problem on their PC and console storefront...and that's the thing that makes them money.

Many of these console companies now that retail stores are fading, need to improve their digital storefronts. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo all have barebone storefronts that mostly just advertise the new big games (or their 1st-2nd party games) that already have the marketing budgets to reach people, but don't do great at showcasing anything smaller or older. They waste screen-space, have basic sorting options, and don't do much to learn about your purchasing tastes from the data they're already collecting.

Steam wasn't great for a while right after the flood of early access/greenlight, but it forced them to create solutions around those problems.

It's ok because next Xboxes will let you install Steam

I don't get these called problems it downloads pre loads super fast and boots game in less than sec where mentality to hate anything you dont agree with come from.

What Microsoft is finding out is that people generally prefer Steam mainly because Steam / Valve are pretty agile and quick to add consumer-focused features. Discovery in the store has been getting constant refinement for years. Dynamic search filters, easy to use wishlist functionality, reviews, curators, genre hubs, user tags, refunds, franchise grouping, community integration with friends, etc. are all features that most other stores lack.

Take if from a guy who has developed a few of the features that were cribbed by Valve - it's actually kind of hard work. Not only does it take manpower and resources, but you have to have the ability to understand your customer's needs to be able to cater to them successfully. You can't just throw money at the problem, you have to hire talented and passionate people who can make these changes without getting stonewalled by committees, or bogged down with pointless corporate nonsense.

It's the reason Epic hasn't really been able to make much of a foothold in the PC games space. And it's the reason Microsoft will inevitably fail in this endeavor.

Seriously, who the hell cares if some unreleased game doesnt pop up on a digital store?

It's not like it suddenly makes the game real, playable, or any less months away. It's just a placeholder on a server

It's consistently inconsistent.

Think Barack Obama GIF by The Democrats

None of that is MS"s choice.

It's developers who ported to the Windows Store, which is not all that well supported because it sucks dick and nobody uses it but GamePass gamers.

Which is what this entire initiative is about, 2 things:
- Converting XBox gamers to PC gamers
- Trying to take market share form Steam in the PC space

Oh yeah a 3rd thing:
- Gaslighting everyone constantly about what an Xbox is lol

Does anyone know why games in windows store are a different version of feel like they are behind from steam versions, even missing features sometimes.

Third party games in the Windows Store (and any digital storefront) have to be updated by the developers / publishers. Most developers publish their 1.0 version on the Windows Store and call it a day, even if they keep developing new features and things for the same game on Steam.

Microsoft has a QA process that's pretty lengthy and fairly harsh (a side effect of their Xbox / console business), which makes most developers not want to go through the hassle of updating their code. For reference, on Steam it's 100% automated, and they don't have to interact with real people like they do on the Windows Store.

GOG has this same problem as well, though they're less restrictive than Microsoft.

Again, Steam / Valve has figured out that automating this process has led to a greater number of developers preferring to release their games on Steam.

its got better than it was but its functionality is very poor compared to Steam.

Bloody expensive as well.

Its no mystery and its not incosistent:

In fact its perfectly consistent in that if its not a game thats on Gamepass its not on the PC store because they know nobody would buy it there over steam anyway.

Kinda bad if big publishers/franchises are missing from the biggest company's store.

the absolute state of EGS is proof that market share is gonna be nearly impossible to claw away from Steam, and I have no idea why MS would try.

- most popular game on the planet is exclusive to EGS
- they have been giving out legitimately free games with no strings attached since it's inception
- multiple popular GaaS like Genshin are on EGS and not Steam
- moneyhatted big exclusives (thankfully they seem to have slowed this down)

All of this adds up to astronomical customer acquisition costs that have went basically nowhere. And EGS is a much better launcher than Xbox.

Certification.

MS has to cert every build/update.
Steam devs/pubs handle when an update goes live once its on the Steam servers.
The MSStore version might be behind a version because that build is still going through cert.

The Xbox PC store is a mess. There have not been any visual or UI updates since it launch. The Xbox team has been focusing on improving everything else in the Xbox app. Im pretty sure the Xbox PC store is going to go through a relaunch before the next Xbox releases. Once they relaunch the store, it is going to have a lot more support since the team focusing on bringing games to the Xbox console are going to redirect its focus to bring games to the Xbox PC store.

It's expensive because people would still hate on it, it's become so common place to hate on everything ms and people can't see how this is destroying the industry. If ms where still competitive we'd had tonnes and tonnes of Sony exclusives sad really.

. All I want to do is enjoy my game I'll buy it on the cheapest platform and doesn't buying pc give you console version too ?

Sorry your post make no sense.

Some people delete native windows 10/11 features to "debloat" the PC and then for some mysterious reason Microsoft Store becomes bugged.
