  • Xbox returns to gamescom with over 20 titles to play, including the first public hands-on opportunities for multiple games.
  • Play Hollow Knight: Silksong with a new demo – on PC or ROG Xbox Ally X.
  • The Xbox booth will also include a theater experience for The Outer Worlds 2.
  • For those who can't attend, check out the official Xbox @ gamescom Broadcast: Live From the Showfloor on August 20 & 21.

We're excited to return to gamescom in Cologne, Germany from August 20-24 to connect with our fans from all over the world.

This year, the Xbox booth will be full of fantastic upcoming games from Xbox and our incredible third-party partners coming to Xbox, PC, and Game Pass this Holiday and beyond – and yes, that includes Hollow Knight: Silksong. On top of that, there will be the first ever public opportunity to go hands-on with the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, as well as other fun activities and photo opportunities. We'll also deliver two days of broadcasts live from the show floor on August 20 and 21, join up with our amazing community for another FanFest, and more.

Keep reading for more details on everything we've got planned for gamescom 2025.

Xbox Booth

This year the Xbox booth will feature over 20 games from our first party studios and our amazing third-party partners – spread across more than 120 gaming stations – alongside photo opportunities and experiences.

Attendees will be able to go hands-on with some of our upcoming game releases and hardware, as well as experience updates to some of our most beloved franchises, including:

  • ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally Xour two new handhelds crafted in collaboration with ASUS that combine the power of Xbox with the freedom you expect from Windows. Players can go hands-on with games including Hollow Knight: Silksong, Roblox, Sea of Thieves, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, with additional hands-on experiences with more games available at the ASUS ROG booth.
  • Grounded 2 is heading to gamescom! Attendees can check out hands-on demos of the shrunken co-op survival adventure from Obsidian Entertainment and Eidos Montreal.
  • Ninja Gaiden 4: Gamescom attendees at the Xbox booth can get the first public hands-on with Ninja Gaiden 4, a cutting-edge adventure where legacy meets innovation in a high-octane blend of style and no-holds-barred combat
  • MachineGames, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, is bringing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to gamescom in celebration of the upcoming story DLC, The Order of Giants. Attendees can play the base game on the showfloor, snap a themed photo, and step into the boots of Indy himself and attempt to find and piece together a mummified cat puzzle—a daily competition where the fastest participant wins a prize worthy of the adventurer. All activities and activations will be available at the Xbox booth starting Wednesday, August 20 through Sunday, August 24.
  • World's Edge is heading back to Cologne for gamescom 2025, bringing with it the legendary worlds of Age of Empires and Age of Mythology: Retold. With a significant presence on the show floor, the studio will be showcasing the depth and diversity of the Age franchise, offering fans a fresh look at beloved titles and teasing a few surprises along the way. Hopefully users can play with the customized OS. That's what everyone wants to hear about.

Doublefine Keeper walking lighthouse thing going to be there?
I think that is the only game left in the Microsoft gun chamber that I'm vaguely interested in. And only because it is Doublefine.

The FFVII Remake port is one of the games that will be available for visitors to play at the event. Sounds like it's close to being ready for release? Another shadowdrop release like FFXVI?

I miss old Gamescom and E3 where all the companies attend and players around the world have really fun.

Attending Xbox is good step.

Gamescom is pretty much the same as it was pre pandemic.
Its a massive convention of games where you get to play a bunch of games.

This is from 2024:

The only real difference is that now we also get ONL where most of the announcements happen.
So if you dont want to watch every single day, just watch ONL and most if not all the big announcements will happen there.
Watch the other days for any other announcements you want to see.

Silksong?

Oh My God Omg GIF by The Office
God I want this so much! Hopefully they make all demos downloadable and playable at home!
I Hope Please GIF

I'm currently doing the final touches in a long Hollow Knight playthrough, I'm at 102% completion now. Only one charm left that I know of! Plus Fragile to Unbreakable Greed.

Was announced at the last showcase. FF16 was shadowdropped.

Yes, I know it was announced alongside FFXVI, but I was surprised that it's already available for play by Gamescom visitors, and that's led me to speculate about an imminent release, similar to the Shadowdrop version of FFXVI.

But a colleague here/up reminded me that it's due on "Hollydays," and I think it's still several months away.

Silksong thoughts

There's a rumored Nintendo Direct happening this week, and I've got a feeling we might finally hear something about Silksong. The situation feels similar to when the original Hollow Knight dropped on Switch — Nintendo might want a surprise announcement to pad out the current thin lineup (especially with Switch 2's current lineup).

Best case (aka crazy shit): shadow drop on Thursday.
Reasonable hope (copium): we get an actual release date in the Direct.
Most likely (normal clown shit): nothing at all, lol.

If we get radio silence again, then I guess the Gamescom demo is just a preview — showing off the game ahead of a full release later. I was kind of hoping the demo would serve more like a teaser after launch, with the game already available on other platforms and the ROG Ally demo being a way to drive extra hype.

"Confirmed" games on both days of the show, does not include any new announcements during their day 1 stream.

I count 9 games I'm interested in. Plus new Xbox Ally details. Should be a good show.

Bandai Namco will be there as well so hopefully new Hot Shots gameplay.

Perhaps a couple of more games making their way to the green side that haven't been there so far 🤔

MS has a solid lineup of games. Looking forward to Gamescom this year. Lots of exciting games that's just around the corner.

RE9 is my most hyped game on the show but for that list it'll be World of Warcraft Midnight easily!. Cronos the New Dawn and Metal Gear 3 Remake might be interesting too.

You talking about former console exclusives like Silent Hill 2 and Rise of the Ronin?

Sony won't have much of a prescience because they have the EU on lock and blew their load on that China POP event.

I don't think SH2 gets announced before its government mandated one year is over.

Wondering if it's too early for them to announce Rebirth on other console(s).

They are also announcing/revealing World of WarCraft: Midnight. My WoW days are long since over, but maybe there's a Gaffer here who is still playing.

I don't play WoW anymore after Dragonflight, but I'll always take a look at the newest expansion out of curiosity. The game would probably be in a better state if Metzen was given full creative control.

I mean, he is "Executive Creative Director". I have to admit that I am not completely familiar with all the American management titles, but it sounds to me that he is pretty much in charge.

I still do kinda but I'm mostly on and off WoW all these years. I usually play a month if the expansion interests me and an extra month or two if the major patches for an expansion looks great. Midnight definitely sounds interesting with what the end of TWW brings and from their interviews. It's easily the game I'm looking forward to most on that list since Resident Evil 9 isn't on it.

Dragonflight was the shittiest expansion ever worse than Shadowlands in my opinion. TWW isn't that great either but Midnight should most likely be amazing and setting up to have a chance at being one of the best expansions.

Midnight should be all Chris Metzen along with Last Titan. 11.2 aka the last major update of TWW seems to be the part where Metzen took over since he came in late.

I'm referring to this
During an interview on WoWCast, Chris Metzen stated that the current World of Warcraft development team is "much more democratized" than when he previously worked there. He explained that upon his return, he had to adjust to this new dynamic and find his place, rather than having the prominent voice he once held in the past. He views his role now as enabling the team to collectively breathe a variety of experiences into cohesive stories, rather than imposing his own singular vision.
Could be better now that he's been there for a while, but I expect him having to conform to the new vegan creative process.

I really hope Midnight is amazing. I'd like to see WoW get its spark back.

Gonna be interesting how they handle the RoG price announcement.
Doubt they have high expectations for this thing. It's beta test hardware for the OS. Shit it out to market and then full steam ahead on their treasure trove of next gen devices.
