This Xbox Ultimate Game Sale 2025 is the biggest Xbox sale of the year so far! Microsoft has slashed the prices of numerous top titles, including Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Final Fantasy XVI, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, so have a good look through everything on offer below and grab yourself a bargain.

Color me surprised Final Fantasy games are actually discounted this time around, they rarely are during large sales like these. The Lightning trilogy is still not discounted on Xbox though, which is galling (just the shitty Windows versions which aren't Play Anywhere). Besides that it's mostly the usual crud.

Looks like I have all the 360 games I want from that list

Same, I think I've just about exhausted the X360 BC games I wanted either digitally or physically at the moment.

Wish they would add more stuff like Singularity :(

Seeing those old games reminds me of when I lost them.
Way back when Xbox 360 live arcade was some of my first digital games, I lost my XBox account because I wasn't keeping up with it.
I forgot my password and as I never really used it. My Xbox would just auto sign in every time.
I could not recover my password because during that time, My ISP changed hands.
A company bought them out and I had used the email as my contact. New ISP had a completely different name. Old email address no longer existed. :(
I tried calling ISP, but I was pretty much screwed. I was never able to get far with Microsoft support.
This was back around 2010.
Some of the games I lost
Castle Crashers
Hydrophobia
Kingdom for Keflings
Blade Kitten

So thats my sob story.

Microsoft should have rebooted the catgirl into a AA game instead of AAAA Perfect Dark.

Ill be getting Dragon Quest III and FFXVI.

They seem to be stingy with the 360 FFXIII Trilogy - but they do go on sale. I remember waiting a long time for a sale - but it did happen.

Why buy any of this shit when you can't take the VAST majority with you to the handheld natively? Let's just hope they have FULL backwards compatibility for their next console...

To play on the current console ?
Well lets say next gen starts in a year or 2, but Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, decide that their next console is a PC hybrid console and it's only going to have the Windows version of the Xbox store... How would 1 play an older 360 game on these consoles natively IF Microsoft decide to go this route? And if they do go this route, why buy these games that will be stuck on these consoles forever?

Games I buy to play now won't stop working on hardware I have now, after 2, 3 years.

I'm talking future consoles. But you're clearly being obtuse for the sake of it. Re-read what I originally wrote and then understand I am not talking about the current console generation. Buy them for today's Xbox. That's fine. But if there is no guarantee of taking them onto the next Xbox console, why waste the money today on digital goods if they're stuck on this gens consoles?

Because not everyone treats buying games like a serious stock market investment, they just play them for a while and forget about them.

Excellent. You do you. I'd like to know that what i'm buying today will come with me when I upgrade to the next generation of consoles.

Play them today but, like I repeated on the other post I wrote, I'm talking about taking these games with you onto the next console and beyond... If there is no guarantee why waste money here?
It's not wasted money if you get enjoyment out of it now. There isn't a guarantee about anything but the company who has made BC one of their core principles probably isn't gonna abandon it. Even if they did, you buy the games you want to play. Then play them. It isn't that big of a deal.

If you pay attention to the gossip is seems like they are making Xbox chips to supply OEMs to achieve Xbox library and PC play on the same box with the least tech and legal barriers.

Novel concept:

Make a separate thread to shitpost your issues with digital libraries and use this thread to post some fucking good deals and pick ups from the sale.

So what we grabbing boys!?

If you're worried about the future of Xbox or whatever, just buy Play Anywhere games. This isn't really rocket science, people.

Yeah spot on- only buy play anywhere games even if you don't want them and want the other games that are strictly tied to your console...

MS didn't even retire the 360 store until last year so anyone with a Series X/S library should be able to access those downloads for quite a while.

Seriously.

On topic: I'm grabbing/recommending Aliens: Fireteam Elite for $7.49. Own it on Steam already but as an H.R. Giger and Alien franchise buff I'm double dipping on console. It's 4K60 on Series X, with a variety of classes and satisfying weapons to use that sound just like the movies. It's got an excellent, Grammy-nomimated original soundtrack, with plenty of awesome setpieces and nuggets of lore to be found on missions. There's even an original novel that serves as a prequel to the events of Fireteam Elite. Overall it's a love letter to fans of the 1986 movie in the form of a co-op TPS. Worth mentioning of course that the game isn't nearly as active as it used to be (got a nice little bump in players last year around the release of the movie Alien: Romulus) but it can be played offline with bots and does have full cross-play across all platforms.

What's more, a current gen sequel in development was leaked a while back. Look up Project Macondo.

Probably just picking up Final Fantasy 9. New all time low price at 70% off.

who hurt you bro? you got some issues it seems.

Bruv this is Team Microsoft Xbox, were big on the BC scene, I think you have us mixed up with your other favourite console brands who dont concentrate on BC as much. Over here we care about your games and want you to take them with you to play across all of your devices, remember if your looking at a screen, your looking at an Xbox. Stay tuned for more info on the next Xbox console that will allow you to play your games like never before.

For now though if you would like to console yourself you could use Microsofts AI companion: Copilot.

Stay kind, Stay smart, stay connected.

Tempted by FF8 remastered…

It's a decent remaster and unlike FFX, they didn't fuck up the new Squall and Rinoa models.

But holy shit did they went overboard with the smearing vaseline effect to "smooth" the backgrounds.

Can you play all old Sony OR Nintendo games on current consoles?

Both are way fucking worse than Xbox in that regard but they are doing just fine, the games won't stop working on old hardware just the same.

Xbox is dying for many reasons but this ain't one of them or even a gotcha.

And after all that we don't even know what the back compatibility plans are for now. Apart from they were hiring for just this event..

Find it a bit disappointing this time, prices aren't super great either. I might bite on Mega Man 11 and FF16 though. Or none, I mean, it's not like my backlog needs it.

I can't tell if you're trolling, console warring, or you simply have a limited perspective. There is never a guarantee that the games you get will be playable on future hardware. Nintendo Switch didn't have backwards compatibility for Nintendo Wii U games. PlayStation 4 didn't have backwards compatibility for PlayStation 3 games. Xbox Series doesn't have backwards compatibility for any Xbox One Kinect games. Even on PC, compatibility for older titles gets more difficult as time goes on and technology progresses.

If the thought is that you're not going to purchase games without a guarantee that you can play them on future hardware, then you shouldn't be purchasing any games. That guarantee does not exist, and it can never exist.

Considering there have been recent MS job postings for engineers that specifically address this concern, it seems more likely that you are going to be able to play these titles on future "Xbox" platforms. In other words, while it is a possibility they could go down the route you describe, it seems probable that they will not.

It was being discussed here https://www.neogaf.com/threads/micr...odern-hardware.1683871/?utm_source=perplexity

I bought some play anywhere titles for the collection. That's another 30 quid spent on games I hopefully play one day lol

Well, let's just say you're trolling and looking for utter bullshit excuses

It's a nice sale, nothing more

I'm a bit disappointed. Most of these games have already been on sale. I only picked up Tomb Raider V,VI,AOD collection and Alisa. If you're a fan of classic Resident Evil, I highly recommend adding Alisa to your library. It is a solid game if you're a fan of survival horror.

even play anywhere PC stuff, might probably break. I have no idea how many Dos and Win95 games run on Windows 11. Maybe with compatibility modes, maybe via Dosbox and ScummVM or in an actual Virtualbox / VMware / Parallels virtual machine. Very old games getting an official patch to run on an OS that did not exist at game release is rather rare.

I bought the Suikodem HD Remaster collection and Octopath Traveller 2. I think this was Octopath 2's deepest sale on Xbox. It's on Gamepass as well though. I think Jedi Survivor is also cheaper than it ever has been before on Xbox.

That's an unfortunate name for a sale, especially in their current situation. ;)

I picked Sleeping Dogs super cheap because I wanted to replay it (again) and from what I understand the Xbox version performs better.

Why would I be trolling when Microsoft themselves seem to be the major party trying to push this idea that whatever you buy now you can take with you wherever you go? I mean, that is until you buy something on a console that is seemingly tied to that console and will never move from there... So if I buy something from this sale, I'd like to know whether it'll transfer across to other devices. I don't think that is too much to ask...

And please, spare me with the backwards compatibility of other consoles. I'm talking Xbox here. They managed to get OG and 360 games working on these new consoles. You can take all of your Xbone games across to the Series consoles, so I don't think it's too much to ask and expect that level of backwards compatibility to continue on going forward. Why allow these fucking corporations to get away with this shit? Stop sucking Microsofts cock for fucks sake and demand better of these trillion dollar companies.

Yep, Singularity would be good. There are a ton of 360 and OG Xbox games they could have brought but nah, that would require effort.

Overall at this point I pretty much got what I need to get for both digital and Physical BC games.

Console warring it is. Grow up you whiny little man-baby. Review my post history and explain to me how I am some kind of stan for Microsoft/Xbox. You should take a few weeks off from the internet. It would make the internet a better place, and maybe when you came back you will have matured a bit.
