Xemu has been looking good lately.

Xemu had a new release a few weeks ago and it is starting to feel worth playing.

I tried out a bunch of games on it and it am only seeing graphical issues on a few games.

They finally fixed that problem with Otogi where the player character had no textures. The game looks perfect now.

I did notice some audio delay in the opening cinematic on Otogi 2.

So, I have been going down memory lane gathering those oddball xbox games.

Here is a good list of Original XBox exclusives.

Is Lost Odyssey perfect yet?

ooooooooh my bad guys

What OG Xbox games are both not available elsewhere and worth playing today?

Outrun 2
Otogi 1/2
Mech Assault 1/2
Brute force (ehh...)
Ninja Gaiden Black
PGR2

are the ones I can think of? any else?

I have Splinter Cell 1 permanently ready for XEMU, to see when they finally implement the console's soft shadow filtering. Currently SC1 seems to render perfectly aside from shadows lacking that filter.

Applicable to all SC games on XEMU. And Double Agent still needs tweaking to avoid the rainbow edges.

Got my Series X to cover most of the Xbox emulation so all I really care about is how well it can run Jet Set Radio Future and the Project Gothams.

Rallysport Challenge and the sequel, Gunvalkyrie, PGR, Jade Empire with special edition DLC (additional character), Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, Steel Battalion, Top Spin. I also have a soft spot for Bloodwake.

Is there any reason to want Outrun 2 vs patched coast to coast on PC?

Racing games are imo still way distant, there is a lot of stuttering when all the cars are on track

Project Gotham Racing 2, Forza Motorsport, Sega GT Online (the better later version), Racing Evoluzione are all almost unplayable here

a lot of games seems to work great, but in the tought phases here we go, big stuttering

on the same PC i'm emulating Gamecube and PS2 flawlessly

Adding to what bender bender already suggested: Blinx The Time Sweeper, Dead Or Alive 2 Ultimate and Dead Or Alive 3, Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volley, Crimson Sea, Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders, PGR1, Jet Set Radio Future, Sega GT 2002 and/or Sega GT Online, and my dear Breakdown

I think the XBox one has a unique colour palette and lighting still missing on every other version. I don't know if fans patched it on PC down the line

This game and its (non-existant) save system made me so mad at the time :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Oh OP don't forget ToeJam and Earl 3

I always think about the time I was babysitting my little nephews and they accidentally erased my 50+ hour PGR save since there was a button prompt to do so on one of the frontend menus. Hard to be upset about it, but it did hurt a little bit. lol

was the water texture shader fixed in FarCry yet? because last time I tried it the water texture looked like a Minecraft texture

Top 3 Picks for me:
  1. Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
  2. Jet Set Radio Future
  3. Panzer Dragoon Orta

It also seems like you can bump up the internal resolution without weird issues like in PCSX2.

pretty sure that always depends on the game in both emulators.

I bet some Xbox games will look weird at high resolutions because the lower resolutions could hide stuff like polygon seams for example, that will become obvious at high resolutions and stuff like that.

also post processing always has the potential to break with resolution changes

Can you run Xemu borderless fullscreen now? it used to force exclusive fullscreen and space out my screen all the time
Yes. You can. It now runs fullscreen and pops up the menu bar when you move the mouse. So, you can switch games and still be in fullscreen.

Otogi 1/2 are backwards compatible, same with Ninja Gaiden Black.
so those run at 1920p on Series X and 1440p on Series S.

the big one that isn't available anywhere and is worth playing is Jet Set Radio Future. it is insane to me that Microsoft didn't work with Sega to get that game into their back compat program

I played the shrek game on it recently and it ran fine on my 5600x/3070 system
the game really sucks though
also increasing internal resolution by 2x quickly made the emulator incredibly demanding on the CPU side and I experienced a lot of slowdowns with it
that said, shrek is probably the first deferred game made, so it could be why it is that much demanding with resolution scale and all
emulator experience was fine, no bugs, crashes or sorts, no gamepad issues with my dualshock emulated into x360 gamepad

i was surprised too, as the game had a lot of graphics corruption issues couple years back. now it is completely flawless in terms of graphics. it really looks good for a 2001 game

Last time I tried playing with it Ninja Gaiden kept crashing non-stop and had some major texture issues with water and lava. It also stuttered a lot despite running on literally the best PC money can buy as of today.

I was actually amazed how many PS2 games do wide-screen pretty well.

Rallisport Challenge 2.

And some older Forza entries probably.
