Who, unfortunately, was not listed among the composers for this one.

ACE+ and Kiyota really did most of the work there. Don't think we're going to miss her much.

But damn does she compose awesome titular themes. The title music for Xenoblade still gives me chills.

People do it all the time, with help from guides and forums such as the one we're on right now
yeah people do it. i'm guilty of that as well, but it's a drop in the ocean. it's not going to affect their localization process. i mean, you're actually proposing to delay the game for the japanese public... they would riot lol.

Doesn't reach the levels that the original XCX trailer for Wii U reached, but I swear I won't get hyped again. It gave a couple of good trailers and Hiroyuki Sawano more work, but it still hurts. I do like the character artstyle more than the final bland/lifeless/bigeyedanimedoll style of the previous game. World is not nearly as impressive.

I just realised something. The North American trailer uses the European font style for 'Chronicles'. This could possibly mean that Nintendo of Europe are in charge of the localisation and dub.

I don't think Xenoblade's first trailer showed too much either.

It seemed like a very basic trailer, just running around a couple environments and quick flashes of a few cutscenes.

What I want to see is stuff like the battle system and if there are any mechs.

Will wait for reviews before buying this (XCX feels like a bullet dodged, even the positive reviews made it clear in their contents it wasn't a game for me), but it they recreate the brillance of XC1, I'll be happily wasting months on this.

If you mean riding the mechs then I doubt it will be there.

Initial reaction upon seeing pants: "What the fuck"

After watching trailer: It actually looks pretty cool, and it's a sequel to the good one! Too bad about no Shimomura, though.

I see they're going the Fire Emblem route? 6+ million copies confirmed.

Kozaki's FE artwork is actually among the least "generic anime" the series' art direction has been for each game's respective era. It's a distinct visual identity, which X2 lacks.

Even Zelda is doing it so....

Not a new development.

The world looks excellent, but that generic anime character design is really putting me off.

Still, I hope the game is good. Didn't really like the first XC but I enjoyed XCX, so I hope they refine the game systems further and bring back the big story elements of the first game.

If I ever get a Switch, I'd be looking forward to this game.

It really feels like Monolithsoft is now big enough to have 2 teams.
Xenoblade / XenobladeX
I expect another game from them being announced in 2018 or so an this time, maybe related to X or something.

At first I thought the chara design wasn't so good but it doesn't say much really.
It has some kind of interesting steam punk feel and if Takahashi is supervising I don't see it having bad writing. His name is even mentioned over lines of japanese script.

Those characters ... why? D: They need to fire all their character designers and slap the person that hired them in the first place. Chronicles' designs were OK but X and this are awful. Why mix these generic anime characters with realistic 3D environments? It looks so off.

Game looks glorious. Very curious to see how this ties into the first Xenoblade enough to warrant the number 2 rather than some other kind of suffix ala X/Chronicles. Is it the world Shulk created? Are any of the old cast still alive? Will there be any familiar landmarks (aside from that bionis' knee looking vista)?

So much I want to know, here's hoping we're not waiting too long.

holy fuck! re-watched the trailer again and i didn't catch that the whole mountainside was actually a goddamn monster! I thought the monster was appearing from behind the mountain -- i didn't think it was the actual mountain!!!

Xenoblade Chronicles is one of my all-time favorite games. Xenoblade X, however, was a huge letdown. So I don't really know how to feel about this one. It looks good, but so did those X trailers.

Let's hope it doesn't suck...?

Also, no way this is coming in 2017. I just refuse to believe it.

It's not even that it's anime, like you said it's how generic it is. Whatever, I'm still in.

On a positive note I really liked the song that played at the end of the trailer.

I agree with those of you that aren't liking the "moe" character designs. The characters are far too clean and colourful looking for a direct sequel to the original Xenoblade. It's an issue for me as the character design in the first Xenoblade blended an anime aesthetic with more realistic human features (refer to picture above) and gave them a more "gritty", "lived" appearance that not only fit well with the kinds of themes the game tackles but also gave the series a unique visual identity.

Also, it's a direct sequel where the characters look nothing like the characters from the previous game...

We're talking about the game with Titty Robots, right

I'm not sure I agree, but it doesn't matter. Honestly, as generic as they are, I prefer these characters to those... things we got in XC and XCX.

Fire Emblem has always hung onto the coattails of common mainstream trends for its character design and art direction without creating much of its own identity; before Awakening and Fates it didn't have much of an identifiable style associated with it.

Yes. While I didn't really like the outfit designs in the original Xenoblade, the characters themselves had a nice blend of realistic and anime style. It worked a lot better in my opinion.

With the character designs in Xenoblade 2, all I can think of is Sword Art Online when I look at them.

I hoped for Xenoblade Chronicles X 2. :(

At least the character design looks good. I get that a few people may not be fans of it, but it's better than the past abominations.

Yes, the game had some rather crude outfits and depictions of breasts. Fortunately, it didn't devolve into hentai territory as the game's plot solely revolved around the brutal war between a human-like people and machines as well as the mystery of the monado. The character design complimented the harshness of this scenario.

Fucking atrocious character art that instantly turned me off. This is monkey paw shit for me.

Did you mean Xenoblade X? I'm really hoping the idea that monolith soft will be working on two different Xenoblade series is true. One a traditional fantasy story based jrpg and the other a sci-fi mecha exploration focused one.

Glad they got all the original composers back (except Shimomura). Manami Kiyota is especially welcome since she wrote the majority of the music you heard the most in Xenoblade.

I wonder if Mitsuda will just be contributing a song again, like the first game. Would be nice to hear more from him.
After his (great) stuff in Stella Glow, I really hope he composes more for this game. Than the first Xenoblade.

I'm all for these character designs after the huge fuckups that were X's designs. Not super distinct but perfectly functional at least.
