This seems to confirm what Monolith Soft hinted at about their release pattern, switching back and forth between fantasy and science fiction. There isn't one Xenoblade series but two. The Xenoblade and Xenoblade 2 games are part of the fantasy series. The Xenoblade X and future X games will be science fiction.

I will miss Tanaka as character designer though. Great character designer with his own style, but Monolith fucked it up in X. The Xenosaga 1 models looked better

Yeah, I really like Tanaka.
I actually don't mind these, though Tanaka's are better.

Still, my favorite game of the presentation, as expected.

I don't believe the 2017 after XCX's launch teaser.

Uh... did you see it? Looked like a 2009 game.

Says someone who is a big fan of a girl which does music like 1999. :P

Actually I dont know if it looked great. It looke good I guess but I need to see more. Monolith knows how to build a world so it will be fine in the end.

But lol at 2017. MAYBE in japan but not world wide.

I'd like this; X needs closure.

The original Xenoblade would fall under science fiction.

Looks like Bunnit/Bunniv and Tirkin/Chilkin are returning too. Maybe this really will have a fast turnaround time with a lot of asset reuse.

I'm sooooo excited we're getting a real Xenoblade follow up, but BOY I hate this art direction. They really need to rethink this.

I got damn hyped when I saw the title, but then I saw the trailer and main character design... Ugh.

I don't mind anime style and the other characters, but he's like mega man and it repulses me for some reason.

Exactly. I don't mind anime either.

But those character designs, they're so awful, that Nomura's designs look professional in comparison.

Was interested in the game, but I guess I'll pass. Characters look worse than XBC, where the designs looked already bad.

Hey, you never know. Maybe the big twist halfway through is that it IS actually a sequel to both and it finally actually explains, like.. Anything about XBX.

I'm thinking this a branch of sorts and style of games they would go for the series.

I'm on board with this. There's plenty of potential left on both sides.

2017 seems optimistic, but I can only hope. Looking forward to seeing more, and yeah, hopefully the cosmetic gear system sticks around.

This is legit the best thing they showed outside of Ocopath Traveler and SMT UE4.

Even Zelda didn't get me as hype.

Putting that 3GB ram to good use with those detail rich environments

Oh, wow, I always wondered who did XC's dub, thank you. Side UK have done a lot of great work, sheesh. TW3, AC:S, SOMA, Everyone's Gone to the Rapture - I had no idea they were from the same company.

Hmm, Side UK. I need to remember this company's name. The work they've done have been excellent.

I'm incredibly hyped for this, damn, didn't expect Monolith to deliver so soon.

Also I'll take pseudo generic anime look over some of the worst JRPG models I've seen in my life anyday.

Monolith really does suck with character designs.

They do...and have for a LONG time. Oh well, if it's one of their games, you can expect this and if you've played anyo of their games since XenoSaga, you know how it is. The rest of the games looks great, though. Can't wait to play it and it says it's coming out this year, too. I hope that's world wide.

-> Red girl and white girl wear similar outfits.

-> The shape of the Zohar/Lifehold is in their clothes and also in the Monado looking BLADE

-> The girls also have something resembling that triangle crystal that Fiora had in her chest during the events of Xenoblade Chronicles.

-> The Nopons are back!

-> Mounts!

-> There seems to be a emphasis on the sky this time which make me believe that this game will be what Nintendo tried to do with Skyloft (A bunch of floating islands in the middle of a sea of clouds)

I am really hyped rn =3

The 2017 date does seem to go well with the setting of the game because they are both a fantasy. There is so little chance that its coming out in 2017 its laughable.

Xenoblade X is really Xenoblade 10, you heard it here first!

A little excited for the ACE music, but maybe they will save Sawano for X-2. I hope they get the sound design right this time.

That Baten Kaitos esque whale.

Not a fan of the character design but the rest looks good. I hope XCX gets a port to Switch too.

oh damn Xenoblade is a mainstay Nintendo franchise now :D

anime faces caught me off guard but everything else looks amazing

I am also a sucker for an old fashion love story.

The super simplified cell shaded models with the Xenoblade X style semi realistic environments looks kinda weird, but its still better than the creepy dolls of the X games.

Hopefully with Xenoblade 2, they can leave X behind as a memory on Wii U better left forgotten

The original Xenoblade would fall under science fiction.

Not really. It was science fantasy with the emphasis on the fantasy, and was called fantasy by Monolithstoft when they talked about bouncing back and forth between science fiction and fantasy worlds with their games.

I loved X, chronicles never really grabbed me especially with the boring first couple of hours.

But monolith makes some amazing game worlds that are so damn unique. Will buy switch for this.

This would be the coolest fucking thing lol. For the next 20 years, we keep getting new Xenoblade titles that are more or less connected, with X being the odd one out, confusing everyone. Then Xenoblade 9 is released in 2032 and it connects it to the rest of the series.
