Xenoblade Chronicles X - Review Thread

Never say never though :p it's possible when there's an in-game option, like in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

To transfer to the 3DS version of the game, yea.

And obviously that will become a non-issue once they implement the cloud save support they announced recently.

Still have to plough through The Witcher, but seriously tempted to pick this up.

From what I read, the game has a multiplayer component, but it doesn't look like you'll be able to actually co-op the entire story, correct? Only select co-op missions?

I have all the packs downloaded.
The lack of a pre-load option coupled with the $90 price tag on the Australian eShop led me to choose physical when I have been going all digital where possible on the Wii U.

Note for reference: and then you can transfer the save to any Wii U, it's not locked to a single one.

I don't know of any other Wii U game where such a manipulation is possible, though.

Ah okay that's interesting. But it's more of a workaround than anything and a very unique case.

Yes you can....do it from data management, but only for a game you play from disc that have separate save files.
So if I understand this correctly, I could start the game (physical copy) on my own Wii U, then copy my save onto a thumbdrive, and continue the game on my parents' Wii U (same physical copy) whom I will be visiting for the holidays?

Edit: Had the wrong post quoted, my bad.

No you cannot do that. You cannot transfer Wii U saves to any other Wii U.

Weird. Just checked on mine, download was 20GB (20,001MB) and install was 19GB.

Did you look at the download stats during the actual download? Because they give you different numbers all over the place, it's confusing. Required space should be 22.7.GB (JP) or 22.9GB. 19GB after install is correct.

Don't suppose there will be some sort of preload for EU eshop? Wishful thinking I know...

I did have a physical copy pre ordered, but after picking up a cheap 500gb drive for my WiiU I ve decided to go digital.

nintendo pls

Cloud saves have already been announced. Just a matter of time.

No point in doing preload a few days before release. If they were gonna do it, they'd have done it weeks ago along with NA.

Of course there's a point to doing preload a couple of days before, come on. No matter how soon or late, preload is always good.

No preload is always bad.

That's a great thing, I guess. I never faulted them for lack of cloud saves since their online is free, after all. In this instance all they had to allow was read saves off of a thumbdrive after writing them from a different Wii U.

I find it very sad that to this day there are a lot of people out there that need reviews from sites (sites which their whole existence depends on the publishers money) to justify a game purchase or not.

There's tons of objective,pure,non-paid information out there. And above all trust your own eyes and judgement people.

There are plenty of reviewers who I don't think are for sale.

But I think most of this thread is people who. Awesome already into the game and are rooting for the game to gain widespread praise. Nothing wrong with that, it's perfectly normal

After what happened with the saves on Wii, I'm sure it's understandable why they didn't. Not saying it doesn't suck there's no alternative but I get why.

My main point is the second half, if they were gonna do it, they would have done it already.

Just bought a wii u for this game yesterday. Found it on sale at toys r us yesterday and I already paid the game off for my pre-order so I am ready. :)

Reviews are basically marketing so great reviews may help the game. My own opinion crystallized a long time ago. :D

I don't know.I'd prefer it if the sales came from positive word of mouth and Nintendo's own advertisement rather than from the reviews.
Don't get me wrong as someone who loved the previous Xenoblade and bought a WiiU mostly for XCX i'll be happy if this game gets as many sales as possible it's just that the influence these reviewers have over some people pisses me off.

No offense, but I hope this isn't some "youtubers are way better than traditional reviewers".

Nice to see mostly positive reviews. Though I have to wait until Tuesday for Amazon to ship my special edition. I'll try to contact Amazon CS to see if I can get it earlier.

Downloaded the packs today, and have had the Limited Edition preordered online for months.

The Saturday release means it'll arrive Monday or Tuesday though, but eh, I can live with that. Will pick Yoshi's Woolly World back up and try to finish that off before this arrives.

I'm pretty much set. The Limited Edition has been preordered (thankfully mine wasn't cancelled, as I heard the retailer has done so). and the data packs have all been downloaded.

Aaaand, I'm visiting my dad from Friday to Sunday, so it'll probably take until Monday that I can pick up my copy. Oh well.

Sorry, should've been more clear: I meant including the packs. The game itself is about 24GB, IIRC. Packs, I don't recall reading the size

The packs are 10GB installed, but need 15GB for unpacking etc. But you don't need the packs if you have the game digitally.

Downloaded the data packs (So long The Wonderful 101 and Hyrule Warriors =( )...!
Happy to see the good reviews after the pseudo-bad impression at the Japanese release.

I think I do. With the digital packs, will the physical version be the same performance wise as the digital version?

Almost, yes. Digital still wins by a slight margin but the difference is negligible at that point.

The eShop page tells you very clearly that the data packs are ONLY for the disc version. That's the only reason they exist.

There were no bad impressions, just a balanced variety of opinions with the majority being positive. Really not sure where this "bad import impressions" fairy tale comes from. I hope you're not all referring to that Eisenbeis (who didn't like the previous Xenoblade game either for silly reasons) guy who wrote that one Kotaku article lol.

Wasn't gonna get this but the reviews pushed me over. Was always gonna try the first xenoblade but I'll start with X.

I'm a big mmo fan, so the combat seems right up my alley. Game looks gorgeous and seems incredibly hardcore/rewarding.

Definitely won the battle against just cause 3 for my holiday gift of choice.

If you also like MMO quests, you'll love this. I don't really like playing online, but I solo some MMOs because I love their sense of exploration and quest structure. When I got the first Xenoblade, it felt like an MMO designed for JRPG fans like me. It was the best of both worlds, and I couldn't stop doing all those quests!

It seems like XenoX doubles down on the MMO elements, so I'm pretty sure we'll have lots of fun with it.
