Xenoblade Chronicles X - Review Thread

I honestly think I'll wind up keeing my WiiU forever just for Tropical Freeze, Smash, Mario Kart, Mario 3D/U and X.

Unless Nintendo makes better versions of those games down the line with NX...
 
So how are the menus in this game in terms of loading? The original had some pretty sluggish menus. Kinda felt like I was loading a page on my internet browser and the connection was slow. At least with the gamepad now I won't have to load up the map.

It would be great if they offered BC with cloud saving so I could just port my progress over to the NX.

7/10: terrible
6/10 and below: worst game ever made

Bummer, I was hoping for tons of sliders like Mass Effect. I will still do my best to make one ugly hero.

From what I gathered there are some ancient ruins in Cauldros (the volcanic region) but there is only a big city filled with NPC, New Los Angeles. That OK tho, the city is BIG.

I'm kind of wondering if NLA was planned to be accessed seamless from any point originally because that ring / wall around it could have been perfect to put a load screen between the city and the wilderness.
 
can the OT for the game have a big flashing red text that says that the data packs are for disc only?

not that people would read it, since they apparently can't read the eshop description

I can do red text but it won't be flashing, sadly. :D

I'll put all of that into the FAQ section and the overview tab at the beginning but nobody reads OTs anyway so... :D

You're doing the OT? Oh man, I can't wait to see how you'll crush the poor souls that keep asking about the data packs! This will be extra fun! ^_^

Metacritic is already a gated community. If you start a random review site, your opinion won't be "valued" until your site is approved for inclusion. Weighted scores aren't a huge stretch from there.

If you don't like it, tabulate an average yourself or try Opencritic
 
So i'm and hour in by now. English voiceacting is cheesy but still good. I've been locked to many conversations and cutscenes whch are supposed to explain a lot but are kinda boring. Fighting and runnign around is fun though.

I wrote to amazon CS. The first response was a typical apology and bumping up the shipping to one day so I could get it Monday.

I calmly replied that the product page STILL lists release date delivery if you pick 2 day ship, so why would I be satisfied by a Monday delivery? Will the product ship before the release date, etc.

The same lady came back saying the estimated date on the order was incorrect and that it would ship before the 4th, the order is now under priority (I doubt that means anything) and that it should be fine.

I'm starting to have my doubts though. Regardless, I think I put in the appropriate papertrail to come back to them if it does end up being late. I sure as duck am not waiting the whole weekend for this game. I'll be at best buy Friday morning if need be

Is this for the standard edition or the special edition?
 
My order from amazon.ca keep saying it will arrive the 4th

I hope it stay that way I'm checking daily to see if it's changing lol
 
With regards to the data packs, I wonder why they aren't just included on the disk? I know what they are for, but is the disk drive for the Wii U that bad?

Apparently streaming data off the disc drive is a lot slower than streaming it off a hard drive. All of the data is there on the disc, otherwise you'd be required to install the data packs, which isn't the case.

Personally wii u is the best of the 3 new systems as far as overall game releases go to me. It's really really worth it. Get that smash/splatoon bundle
 
Also I'm getting excited enough that I want to boot up one of my old Xenoblade save files and play around. Watching some of that chuggaconroys lets play instead for now.
 
If my SE hasn't shipped by the time I'm home from work tomorrow I'm gonna start getting worried. The guide git bumped to release date delivery from shipping a few days ago so I'm not giving up hope yet.

Menus are snappy, but there are pages and pages and pages of menus.

Huh...thats news to me. I haven't touched Watch Dogs on any platform yet but I wonder why no other Wii U games that I've owned haven't done it. Granted Some of Nintendo's 1st party games are usually compressed to the point where I think they using blood magic and pagan rituals.
