Smart, maybe obvious, that melee attacks give more TP. Maybe that was known, but good to have such a dynamic for switching off, deciding between playing it safe or getting in close.

I'm not digging the art designs either looks way too old school (not a style i like back then either).

I hadn't played any of those PlayStation-ish JRPGs back when I was growing up, but when I go on YouTube and see some of the prerendered cutscenes of games from back then, the characters' appearance in this game seem similar to that. So I think it might be that the characters' looks are an homage to those PlayStation CGI cutscenes that people may have seen back in the day (but now you can finally play the game with characters that look that way, haha). But it was a huge relief to see that there will still be fantastical races such as the Nopon, and some new ones too.

One thing I really liked about playing Shulk was that we engaged in conversations with others. I REALLY hope this create a character will as well. And don't just mean text, mean voice speech as well. Just with different perspectives based upon being male/female voice.

I thought I heard the MC yesterday doing the usual battle cries (love them or hate them, haha)

Will listen closely to confirm/deny.

Having played Xenoblade 1, this looks pretty awesome....

They said during customization you can change the voice, so I'm guessing there's still some of that.

Time to analyze obsessively

I have to say, Nintendo's e3 has really been nice for us, not only do we get trailers of the games, but we get to see the games really get "presented" to a fuller extent rather than simply having their existence acknowledged. It's not just a choreographed trailer or teaser, this is full blown, live gameplay, and they not only did it once, but they're giving us another extensive look at it. Their Digital Event really did shatter my expectations. And best thing is that nothing's really spoiled too. It's a case of "the more I know, the more I realize I don't know."

Xeno Wii "spoiler".

so the character we play is a doll/robot/
"golem" like Shulk
, right?

The eyes make me believe that. Would also fit in with the theme of creating only that character

Great! Hopefully just not battle cries, and actual voice conversations.

Anyways, REALLY looking forward to this game!

The music sounds amazing. Be interesting to see how/if/to-what-extent the topple systemhas been reworked. Also, range/melee skills only charge while you have that type equipped.

I hope they keep this in.

It's part of why combat was so fun, getting to hear everyone yell out their attacks and interact with eachother.

Gives you the impression that you're travelling and battling with actual characters instead of just AI that only expresses itself during cutscene moments.

I am ready for this game. Gotdamn does it look good. Dashing in the field, with bigger jumps before we get the mechs is going to be such an improvement over Xenoblade.

I'm very curious about the online aspects of this game... previous trailers have shown a party made up of characters named Player 1, Player 2, etc but they haven't really confirmed that yet, have they?

Not yet, but my guess is "avatars", the self-created characters, are the only ones that can cross over into other people's games. Sort of like DQIX.

These streams have only reaffirmed my conviction: X remains my MOST WANTED GAME.

I was rewatching the first Treehouse showing on my TV earlier, and there was a section in the menu for Guest Characters. There were also sections for Comments 1 and 2 on your character's status screen. What I think is going to happen is that you can lend your main character to other people as a Guest Character, like the pawns in Dragon's Dogma
I think, not actually played it.

Then you'd use the comment section to advertise, or explain your character's build for other's to use them. The previous trailers had characters that all had the same boots and things, so I think they were teams made entirely of custom characters.

Geeze, already I want to deliver justice to those damn aliens for what they did to Earth, just careless disregard for humans? Nope, not gonna take it, kill every last one of them.

After it pans out and shows all of the crashed city the screen went black and showed a "Social Information" box in the top left corner. It had the player name and some other things I couldn't read because I can't read Japanese. If "social" was the affinity chart then why would this appear? We need to know what else was in that box, anyone have the footage and can read Japanese?

This is the only possible lead I see right now for information on multiplayer.

The rest of 2014 is a long year.

Not I'm just crossing my fingers, toes, and eyes that this isn't a "Winter 2015" release date....

Wish I could hear more of it without Treehouse waffle lol. Trailer music was ace though, and original Xenoblade has some of the best video game soundtracks ever.

Definitely agree. I was a little disappointed to see they didn't bring back the original composers and had someone new (when they first revealed the game), but the music is sounding great so far, anyways.

Ah. Who did Xenoblade Wii's music? I always thought Monolith had its own composer. Guess not.

The amazing... Yoko Shimomura (she only did a few tracks, but they are also some of the best ones imo - the title screen music, colony 9, epilogue for instance)
ACE+
Manami Kiyota
Yasunori Mitsuda (the ending song)

Probably wasn't anything huge but I'm watching the stream at work and have no audio. What was the Twitch stream screaming about regarding Shulk?

I wonder if that, along with the detailed character creation system, indicates that maybe in Xenoblade you can only essentially control the main character? That would... be a step back in some ways, because the best thing about the party system in Xenoblade was how some of the other characters especially later in the game played completely differently and it was fun to make them the leader. I really hope this isn't the case.

Another thing I noticed is that by going through all the class options shown late in the video, they actually revealed all the melee and range weapon types in the game for the main character:

Melee = Knife, Long Sword, Dual Swords, Shield, Javelin, Photon Saber

Range = Assault Rifle, Dual Guns, Ray Gun, Gatling Gun, Sniper Rifle, Psycho Launcher

Quite a number of these are familiar weapon types for different characters in Xenoblade, but there are also the more interesting types which aren't present at all. No wands or biters for example. So yeah, I really hope that when the Treehouse guys said that every character has their own unique set of classes, they weren't mistaken or something. Maybe ability to control other party members opens up after the Prologue or something?

Wait is this true?, that'd be really bad I want to play like the others

Pretty sure we will be able to take control of the other characters. We could in Blade. Maybe the MC is just customizable out the wazoo and the other characters have their own set of classes.

Wasn't too hyped for this game until now but the gameplay footage was just so good...

I really hope they fix the many issues the first game had.

Thanks for pointing this out. I just checked the new Treehouse demo to see what that says. It's achievements. So this confirms the "Social" tab is online social and not the Town Social system from Xenoblade. The pop-up says that the player has earned an award. The award is "This is NLA!", and it lists Ethan after that so it's probably tied to characters instead of the WiiU account? Not sure. Hope that helps.
