At the end of the first game, Shulk decided to create a new world. I think this is earth from the second game
Unlikely. Shulk created a new world without fate, so it wouldn't end up the same as our world. There would be no United States and no Los Angeles in his new world.

The basic idea in my opinion is that both games have essentially the same starting point: Both start in our world, right here, right now. And in both cases, something goes wrong in the near future. In Xenoblade, we accidentally destroyed the whole universe trying to create an artificial big bang right in our orbit. In Xenoblade X, aliens destroy the earth - but that's probably humanity's fault as well. Both games begin with the destruction of our world, but it's the same world in both cases. They're parallel, not consecutive.

Kinda hoping they make some mind boggling crossover thing that meshs Gears, Saga, and Blade together in some weird Philosophical way.

Xenoblade X will be the Bioshock Infinite of the Xeno series!

If it's anything like other anime mecha stories...

One of the most surprising (and best) moments in Xenoblade: (late game spoilers)
"Landmark: Saturn" popping up on the screen. I was like WTF, lol.

In the first play-through video, the Treehouse guys mentioned that there would be recognizable elements from previous Xeno games. The way they were a bit coy about it made it obvious they meant Xenogears and Xenosaga in addition to Xenoblade. As an avid Xeno fan, I'm looking forward to what's in there. I hope the colony ship is called the "Eldridge".

Man, such a great moment that was. Need something as crazy as that in X. The story is totally going to go off the rails, you can already tell.

It's pretty amusing. After three gameplay trailers (the third one being relatively unimpressive, in my opinion), I really wanted a story trailer. Now that I have one, I just want more trailers akin to the first two, haha. The story trailer just had little substance, I think.

Wait, are you guys really watching videos on eshop? I can't find anything on my NZ eshop.

Hahaha man that was hilarious!!! I must admit, I got fed up with gameplay towards the end so I switched to a Youtube let's play. When it got to that point, I had to rewind just to make sure...

Also, a tip from me to new Xenoblade Wii players, cast away your inner completionist and try not to grind or do too many side quests... I got pretty exhausted and I wish I had pushed through the very extensive story instead...

If it's anything like other anime mecha stories, we're definitely going to space. See you guys on the moon.

spoiler for another game -
Even in W101 we got a freaking epic mecha battle up in the heavens. I highly doubt they'd hold back in a game of this scale.

Probably will get to go to the planet's moons, but I doubt there will be interstellar or long range ship travel.

Its amazing how the other humanoid humans look so good; while the design of the humans is bad. Humans seem to be done in a different art style; colliding with rest of the world.

lol, totally agreed. Just based off what the JP version of the trailer said about the "BLADE" thing, the story is definitely going to go in some interesting places. Can't wait. :)

I certainly hope not

Well, I meant about how Infinite connects the Bioshock games together (like what the poster I quoted was talking about).

That said,
I loved Bioshock Infinite, so...
:P

My reaction to it was basically:

Also a tip for new owners - DO NOT USE SHULK, REYN, AND SHARLA THE ENTIRE GAME. Worst combo! I mean, it's functional, but very boring and fights are actually harder in some ways. And don't use Shulk full time either. Switch characters around often and try new people - they each have a different playstyle which adds a lot of variety to the game.

from the 3 mains they showed?

needs her hair model fixed a bit too jaggy for my liking but since I'm a brown skinned brother she is wifey

I got over hating the models as soon as I saw customization was in

I sort of expected the character designs to be mediocre in comparison to the rest of the game since Xenoblade was the exact same way. Hopefully they'll do better in this department next time.

Nooo F you! Shulk all the way!

Shulk was the most boring character to use, he had the least customization when it came to arts. Making crazy specific builds with the other characters was a blast, I only played a lot as Shulk for the first quarter or so of the game. I hope the MC in this game gets more arts.

In my opinion, Shulk was too good. He had visions, could stop fatal attacks with his arts, speed up attacks, and had overall decent stats, especially if you build good relationships with certain party members. Not to mention he was the only one who could hurt a Mecha until a third way through the game. He became broken if you unlock his final talent tree. I played with all the party members, but I always went back to Shulk when it was time to get serious.

My only major grip with the entire game was that the endgame was too short and I became overpowered because I did a bunch of quests. I just destroyed the final boss. Also, the new game plus was too limited. Needed bonus bosses or to sharpened my new sword plus.

Edit: The lack of arts for Shulk was to balance out his natural ability, which were extremely powerful. If he did have customize stats like the others, you probably wouldn't even look at the other playable characters.

I know your heart is in the right place, but if people don't use Reyn, they will never know what time it is.

I giggled because "RE:YN o'clock" never gets old for me.

Sharla is awesome endgame when you don't want to worry about healing at all with anyone else.

I remember having a lot of fun with Melia, Seven, and Riki (usually supplemating a heavy hitter in some spot or another). Riki worked pretty well as a healer since Shulk only did so well. Riki all around had weird and fun skills to take advantage of. Dunban would topple enemies. Melia was just intersting/fun to play as. And I liked Shulk because I didn't want to buy anti-Mechon weapons and lose a customization slot.... He got less fun as things went on though

After I got 7th I used it as my main character for the rest of the game.

Get its 40% haste armor from the Machina village then get some good Double Attack gems so you get 40% there too and watch the chaos.

I don't think you'll have to worry about arte selection. Here's the current class list for the main character.

Looking at the Class list so far for the main character we have

Drifter

Assault
- Samurai Gun
-- (Unknown)
- Shield Battler
-- Heavy Striker

Command
- Sword Fang
-- FullMetal Jaguar
- Long Lancer
-- Star Crusader

Forcer
- Psy Seeker
-- Elite Planner
- Blast Fencer
-- Galaxy Knight

They said the names aren't final so they might be different in the full version. Apparently every character is supposed to have their own set so I'm not sure if it means some are shared or not.

It's interesting to see some people list Xenoblade Chronicles X as a game where their interest is deflated once they see that the combat is not action but rather is cool-down/autoattack based. I've seen that sentiment a few times. I wonder what people see that lead them to think it's an action game. Well, it only happens of course if they are unfamiliar with Xenoblade in the first place, in which case it's not like the wool's been pulled over their eyes. I hope some of those people still give it a chance.

6:50 confirms you can change the time of day, though it seems you can only do it at specific locations.

Oh, that's neat and good to know!

my party towards the end game was 7(playing), Shulk, and Sharla I think

I played as Shulk in the final battle though because it was cool

I liked using Reyn and Melia for a while, but Riki and Dunban never really worked for me

Yeah, I think aesticially it can be a hard sell for people who haven't played Xenoblade since the combat looks kinda weird from an outside view. Enemies not really reacting to most hits, you taking damage when it looks like you weren't hit, etc. It basically took the frothing love for the game for me to give it a chance and once I sat down and had the combat click had a lot of fun.

I think Xenoblade's combat is something you need to experience to be sure if you'll like it or not (assuming you're skeptical).

Even though it can be compared to MMO's, Xenoblade's combat didn't really feel like one to me. I think that's partly due to your vocal comrades and how they interact, as well as the Future avoidance mechanic as well as having many arts that require either working with your team to pull off (Topple) or require proper positioning to achieve their full effect.

It also helps that every character plays differently. I'm assuming they'll be improving on these aspects in Xenoblade X.

Yep, I agree. I grew to mostly like it for what it is. With in battle class switching and maybe an altered topple system as well as an additional layer for positioning (high--low), I think the systems are fairly deep and engaging. Even though it's not necessarily twitchy or "quick" like an action system, it's a neat set of mechanics to learn and hopefully have some interesting encounters with the ability to test strategies and party composition, etc.

watch both treehouse gameplay videos and that made things MUCH worse for th wait until I am assuming Q3 2015

I had to read this twice, at first I could only see MUCH WORSE and I was all D: until my brain decided to wake up.

Ahh I'm really in 2 minds whether to play Xenoblade again, or carry on hoping for it to be released or remastered on the WiiU >.<

Also Melia is the best! Such a unique play style. With Seven tanking (cause Seven is badass), and Shulk for this Monado skills.

Edit: Ok it took me about 30min to cave and then sort out Xenoblade on Dolphin.

[...]
but I welcome the customization over this. I liked how treehouse play white male first run and black female second run, everyone should be happy, seeing the lady run animation made Ubisoft jokes possible
I must've missed something... because I don't get that reference...

a speed up 14 minutes at that lol I wonder how long the video would be if you did that run in real time

I actually ran up all the way a few days before the game originally launched in Europe because someone was asking the same thing. I can't exactly remember but it took about 45-55 minutes. It's probably still somewhere in the original OT...

OMG OMG treehouse X in 1080p on my TV eShop

YESSSSSSSSS

apparently not in Europe (yet)

The thing is.. besides the visions, every other char could basically do the same thing, one way or the other + they were more interesting to play. Especially Melia and Seven were pretty overpowered... even if Seven is probably on top when it comes to maximum dps, Melia on the other hand is versatile as fuck and can do pretty much everything you need: buff your comrades, kill mechon (without the Monado or anti mechon weapons), stop fatal attacks, ridiculously high dps and she also completely breaks the game with her kick.

The games biggest flaw is how well it sets you up with the initial party. You feel save with shulk, reyn and sharla without realizing that it's basically the worst combination possible.
(I beat all the post game 100+ Bosses with Melia, Dunban and Seven btw)

I usually had Melia or Dunban in lead, with Riki or Sharla in the third slot. Probably not the most effective combination, but the game's fairly easy overall anyway.
