Dat draw distance.

Well if they can outsource it without taking anything away from the X team.

But I get the feeling people who want this already have played the 1st game and have no interest to do that insane number of quests again.

I want to play the first game but Nintendo doesn't want me to buy it. I didn't have a Wii when it came out, so I never really had a chance. So I would LOVE an HD remake, even though I could probably run the first on Dolphin pretty well.

Oh, i'm glad they gave us choices. It's just like how you can make Shepard hideous. It's true my preferred design is what is in my avatar. If I could make Kamijou Touma successfully in Xenoblade X, the game would be perfect already. :P

hurray for vast amount of options \o/

Definitely agree! If people want to make an older character - that's fine. If people want to make a very anime-inspired character, go for it. I'll probably go somewhere in the middle. Well, leaning more on the anime-side to try to make my character similar to the other humans in the game.

Likewise. Have they confirmed "romance" options? or is that just assumed?

Final Fantasy XIV pre-2.0 actually had a lot of similarities to Xenoblade in both of its combat systems. Watching footage, I wish A Realm Reborn was more like this game's combat or at least the last one.

Can you fight in these mechs, or is it just for travel? I'm assuming some of the nastier creatures is going to require the mechs to kill them.

Can't wait to explore in this thing!!

I wonder how Doll management is going to work since they seem to have removed the Fuel gauge as you can see here.

What's going to be the incentive to go on foot versus using a Doll in the open field? I imagine there will be places you can only enter on foot, but based on that video it seems like using the Doll in open areas is the way to go.

It could also be the case that there is Doll fuel or some other limiting factor but they just haven't implemented yet in time for the recording of that footage.

Hmm, I'm not sure. I would not assume there will be romance options. There could be, but... I don't expect a lot of "choice" with the game in terms of the story or anything like that.

We might get another Affinity system to unlock heart-to-hearts; whether they'd let the characters initiate romantic relationships or just platonic friendships is uncertain.

Check out this trailer. You see some combat in the mech. Also, Mech gameplay here.

True. The Heart-to-Heart system was neat, but I feel like it was too... I dunno. I probably only got to see a small fraction of them because of the requirements. For the first half of the game, most of the H2Hs I came across had no info about them, so I thought I was doing something wrong, lol.

Yeah, the name is really stupid. It's such a mouthful, confusing and the logo looks terrible too. I can't believe that's what they've come
up with after one and a half years of mystery. I don't get why it needs the "Chronicles" subtitle either. If you want to make Xenoblade a franchise, make "Chronicles" the first game and "X" the second. Xenoblade X still looks an sounds dumb, but it's at least way better than Xenoblade Chronicles X.

I wonder if Monolith originally hoped for Xenocross as the name.

Why do people even entertain the thought that what happened with Bayonetta will happen for this? It's not remotely the same process, Xenoblade was a Wii game (SD platform) and a 40-150 hour RPG. Bayonetta 2 is being made with many of the exact same assets and environments as the first and that was on the 360/PS3 (HD platforms). Xenoblade is never going to be remastered and put on the Wii U on the same disc as this game.

Even something like Xenoblade Exodus would have sounded better and been less confusing. Making the original game's unnecessary 'Chronicles' it's installment-specific subtitle would allow them to have a franchise name that isn't unwieldy and clearly communicate this is a sequel.

Whoa, now that is awesome. I hope the mechs can have some giant laser swords or something, not just machine guns. :)

I think that will be possible. You can see in both trailers that the Doll's have weapons mounted on the shoulder.

My guess is that you'll be able to change the hand and shoulder weapons on your Dolls which will grant you different arts. In the first trailer they show one using a one handed melee beam sword/saber to cut off a monster's tail. Two handed melee weapons have been available in previous Xeno games (Jin's ES) so I imagine there will be something like that in this game.

Pretty much. Xenoblade X would've been my preferred choice.

What's wrong with dreaming?? D:
I never said I expect it to happen anyway.

this post is begging for an avatar quote lol its cool man you have choices that is important, they gave us choices :)

I really don't think having more choices is always a good thing, and am really afraid that the character customization in this game will be there at the expense of additional character development and dialog. It is nice I guess that everyone gets to make their own special snowflake, but that has never been the reason I play a Tetsuya Takahashi game. This is coming from a person that gets tired of all the teenagers saving the world jrpgs, but what is the point of making your own character when that could mean that now the personal story of the game no longer has any relevance to the character you are playing as?

I'm not saying that that is a bad kind of game, it's just not what I play these games for. Also not saying that this game can't change it and actually have a ton of stories made into it depending on what race/gender/age you picked for your character, just that I don't suspect that that is the case. More options isn't always the best thing when there is a limited number of total resources you can spend on creating parts of a game.

Man, how I wish someone recorded the world's theme while traveling, without any comments or SFX, it sounded delicious!

Sure. I can totally see where you're coming from, I know I'm in the minority- at least here- when I say I'm in preference of the whole younger MC. But in regards to the silent protagonist/character, I'm open to both. It does not bother me that much since I've seen games that implement it really well and it's more of a design decision rather than a flaw.

If I had the option, I would prefer a character created by the devs with a personality, voice, and back story. I'm not completely against a silent protagonist, though. Some of my favorite games of all time have silent protags (Chrono games for instance), but... like I said, if I had the choice, I would choose a regular protag like Shulk, Shion, or Fei.

Being a silent protagonist isn't even the thing I fear the most about custom characters. It's how the story has to be written around the fact that you have no gender/age/race, or have multiple stories written to accommodate all the options. For example, the protagonists in the Chrono series were silent, both Chrono and Serge, but who they were as people were still relevant to the games they were in. I may have aged a bit and be tired of the children saving the world thing, but I would still prefer the main character to be another set teenager then to have the character you are playing as be irrelevant to the story, and unable to fit into individual character stories of the game.

So, is anyone else going to just call this game Xenocross Chronicles

Sounds best imo

I was going to just keep calling it X, but Xenocross sounds good too. Nice work on whoever thought of that.

I'm more inclined towards supporting the choice of a silent protagonist, but that's probably because of SMT. I'll be interested to see the full extent of the choices you'll be able to make in the game; even if they have little impact, a good dialogue wheel might be an atmospheric addition.

I did
Sounds much better, think I'l just refer to it that way

MAn, I only just started Xenoblade and Im hyped as fuck for this game. I still have the original trio in XC, and I actually love the combat system in XC

Music sounds great again

Yeah the thread title made me think the game was called Xenoblade X here in Europe, disappointing to hear it isn't. Xenoblade X doesn't sound that bad, but the addition of Chronicles really kills it. :(

Change that shit while you still can, Nintendo.

Do we know hhow ths game connected to the other?
Xenoblade Spoilers:
Earth was destroyed previous to the start of the game and the entrire universe replaced by the world on Xenoblade (A "Sea" Dimension witht the Gods standing, although there seemed to be stars and celestial bodies), at the end of the game it looks like a "cosmic" Universe was recreated but the Gods and sea turned in to a regular planet.
Hovwever this Game start with Earth's Destruction by the Aliens and the survivor Humans crashlanding on an unknown planet, however. If this is probably the resulting planet of Xenoblade as there is a Nopon on the trailer

It's very loosely connected. Like FF6 to 7.
They share some similarities but overall X is a far different game and set in a different universe.
Nopons are only in X to be overpowered and have the best Mechas.

Like what I theorized before, it looks like this game will be a few hundred years, or even thousand years after the events of Xenoblade, if there ever was a connection. The end of Xenoblade, plus the presence of the Nopon life, plus the distant technological advancements (like carrying the whole city of Neo Los Angeles by a space craft) makes this game a distant future from the events of the 1st game.

I really don't think the stories of Xenoblade and X are related at all after knowing a bit more about the story. The way X starts out, it was Earth with our cities, landmarks, continents, etc. (obviously had more tech and was in the future). But with Xenoblade,
the end of the game is nothing like that. It's just the ruins of the Bionis in the ocean and you can even see the Mechonis Fallen Arm/Hand in the distance. Xenoblade's world at the end is nothing at all like Earth... minus having salty sea water!

Nopons are likely only there as the token funny/furry race and as a nod to Xenoblade.

I loved Xenoblade so much, by far my favoriite JRPG of that generation and maybe even the previous combined. Now that X has been revealed as a Xenoblade game it sets up expectations that it's unlikely to meet (for me at least). But we'll see. Maybe I'll start a new game of Xenoblade Chronicles some time this year to warm up for this one.

World of XenoX could be parallel dimension.
