Only three more items to fully upgrade Colony 6! Though i've heard the Black Liver Bean is perhaps the hardest item to get, can anyone confirm?

The other two are elements that I hopefully will get rather easily from creatures on Prison Island.

Yeah, wasn't there a Xenoblade concert, or whatever it was with the Monado replica, I wish there was a DVD of it; I'd so buy it.

Actually; the arrangement I'm thinking of was from one of the Press Start concerts, which are never recorded. Some of the orchestrations we don't have recordings of as a result include "Beyond the Bounds" and "Dancing with DomZ".

looks like I have to fight some Level 100 UMs to finish my Collectipidia :(

how fun

Beating a level 100+ UM is just a small part of the battle.

Rebuilding Colony 6 to Housing level 4, improving the Area Affinity to level 5, learning Shulk's Hero's Privilege or Riki's Buy Stuff! in the skill tree and inviting Je'rell to Colony 6 are the other parts.

I think that's the same one.

I'm pretty sad that we'll never hear them, and just thinking about Xenoblade's soundtrack again makes me doubt Sawano even though I liked his work in the past.

What's so bad about rebuilding Colony 6? I've never really felt it that difficult?

the stuff I have to do to get my 100% as spoilered I need to go look these things up and have a plan

I am not sure if my Colony 6 is that low I'll go check how far I am

Man do they really think Americans are that brain damaged that they need to put Chronicles in the title when Xenoblade is already there big and bold.

Go speak to
Juju
and you can see your percentage, number of residents and also the current levels of all reconstruction.

thanks

now it is all coming back to me

everything is already level 5

completion is 94%
population 142

I need a
Black Liver Bean and Love Source

that bean is a pain to spawn T_T

oh well I'm close to finishing just have to grind a few more levels to go get that UM

Could you guys possibly make another thread for pure Xenoblade discussion? I haven't played it yet, and won't be able to for a while, so I keep having to dodge around all the posts made about it (especially the ones discussing plot etc) despite being in this thread for X related info.

Sorry for being a pain, but I want to go into Xenoblade knowing as little as possible.

I hope they keep the option that player can only know enemy's level and aggressiveness when we target it. Being able to see information far away from enemy ruins some feeling of exploration. I always turn it off in Xenoblade.

would you guys be upset if X used some bits of Xenoblade music?

just as fan service in little areas maybe

Zelda goes all out to remind us sometimes I would like this series to do the same if they want to use the Xenoblade name

Hearing some of the previous game's themes in Sawano's style could be amazing - I'd have no objections if they decided to make Shimomura's Xenoblade theme the 'Prelude' of the series.

Take a look at the Gundam Unicorn soundtracks as well, they contain some of his stronger pieces.

Anyone just getting into Hiroyuki needs to hear his Ao no Exorcist OST. It's essential primer material, and the best demonstration of his range.

As big a fan as I am of Hiroyuki, he's got a lot to live up to with X, coming off of Xenoblade's compositions. Luckily, the bit I've heard is ON POINT.

Thanks guys. I'll be sure to check out some of his other pieces, he is quite talented.

Replaying Xenoblade for the 5th time (seriously).

Just got to Frontier Village, 7 hours in. This is more of a speedrun this time than anything else.

They will probably use a Nopon-related music from Xenoblade since X and XX both have Nopons. Probably a remix of sorts of Frontier Village or Riki's theme. Just my guess.

I really want an in-depth interview with Monolith's artists about the creative process behind XX. The art (and art direction) on display here is some of the best I've ever seen in a game.

Really? I think it's pretty generic scifi stuff aside from the more epic landscape stuff, like the peak in the second picture. That kind of stuff is cool.

The trailers and screenshots look even better after around 10 hours of Xenoblade.

I'm hoping that they improve the facial animations, or at least match the expressiveness that the characters have in Xenoblade (during cutscenes).

And it seems that doing all the sidequests pretty much overlevels you for story battles. So far I've been over leveled for every boss so far.

The cutscenes are still as awesome as I remember though.

Generic sci-fi is a description that should be reserved for the likes of Star Ocean and Phantasy Star (Online). From the fauna and environments art, to the music, to the unconventionally-designed city - the execution in general, really - XX is in a league of its own.

Generic for Phantasy Star??? WTF? Not at all, unless you mean the online ones.

I do (mind you, I wasn't particularly impressed with the traditional entries, but I, at least, won't call them generic).

Yeah, I just don't see it. It looks good, but it's nothing to gush over about. It's stuff I expect to see in a sci-fi world, from what we've seen, I think it's generic.

Maybe I'll be proven wrong when we actually get to play the game, Xenoblade took place on two giants after all. I'm sure they have all kinds of imaginative stuff in store for us.

e: also when talking about a game's art, i personally don't think music really counts

You actually sold your copy of Xenoblade?! YOU MONSTER!

I did.
When I heard it was a 100 hour RPG with billions of quests and I was about to start up a HUGE courseload at Uni AND part-time work, I took the money when I needed it.

Then I regretted it... :(
Then I bought it again when a forum buddy was selling stuff to pay for a broken car. I hate saying I lucked out by his misfortunate (and didn't pay up the nose for it), but it's in my Top 10 games of all time these days, so.... :S
God, stop talking, Dice.

Between this and the first Xenoblade, I think the studio has built up a pretty unique aethetic that I dont feel many other, if any, games share. Whether its in the mechanic design, nature, rock formations, etc. It's a pretty singular look. There's also elements shared with Xenosaga, but I feel Xenoblade as a whole is avery unique package in terms of world design, and I expect X to follow suit...

So uh, I'm only just now aware of the bitching regarding a graphical downgrade? I thought it looked fine aside from some of the faces. Anyone got a comparison?

I'm pretty sure most people took back those downgrade comments after Treehouse showed a ton of gameplay footage. Here's a comparison from earlier in the thread.

Thanks for finding the top gif from the original reveal. I think this is the closest comparison I can find:

Yeah, the problem seems to be that a lot of people only watched the Nintendo Digital event and didn't watch the Treehouse footage at all, and since the Nintendo Digital event pretty much focused on just story and the character models look worse than the environments do, causing people to assume that there was some time of downgrade. But yeah, after the Treehouse footage, it thankfully seems those worries were overblown and premature.

Yes, yes they are. You can find one opposite

Only a small chance for it to pop. After saving and reloading for at least an hour, possibly 2, I was able to get the three I needed.

Are people comparing the Shulk(lol) face from the initial trailer to the ones from the Treehouse demos?

The Treehouse demo ones look vastly superior, just look at the character creator footage, and the close ups during a few of the cutscenes.

Yeah, I just don't see it. It looks good, but it's nothing to gush over about. It's stuff I expect to see in a sci-fi world, from what we've seen, I think it's generic.

There's plenty to gush over: the stunning skyboxes, the unique, sprawling landscapes, the exquisitely-designed fauna, the atmosphere of primal, majestic grandeur, the dizzying sense of scale that's so effortlessly conveyed - I could go on ad infinitum (and this is speaking for a single locale). Have I seen certain of these elements in other sci-fi RPGs? Sure. Have I seen them executed so beautifully and masterfully? Absolutely not, and that's where XX distinguishes itself. I wouldn't be able to pick up any old sci-fi-themed game and expect to see the kind of artistic quality and identity we're seeing here, and to say so would be incredibly unfair to the game, I think.

I dunno, maybe it'll click with you once you play it.

e: also when talking about a game's art, i personally don't think music really counts

Well, I wasn't lumping that with art; it was just another an aspect in which it was superior.

Thanks for this. To me, Sawano's music sounds a little more 'mature' and subtextual. It seems to have fewer melodramatic hooks so it's not quite the JRPG/Final Fantasy/Chrono Trigger/Squaresoft/Nintendo anthems that we know and love. But that's not a good or bad thing. I remain optimistic as I think it will support a darker-toned story a bit better.
