Well, finally got my hands on it. Interested to do a performance and visual analysis on the game as I think it's one of the nicest looking titles on Wii U. Really pushes the hardware, it seems.

I'd definitely read any analysis you do! I've been hoping this game will get covered by Digital Foundry.

There have been multiple reports on NeoGAF of people having issues due to using cheap Flash drives with Wii U. It isn't entirely clear how common the issues are, but they aren't purely theoretical.

See, that's the catch, Nintendo sent us the digital version so any initial coverage will be focused on that.

*HOWEVER* I will definitely be purchasing a personal retail copy for myself so I can update the article (though I'm sure others have tested it too).

I got burnt by this myself. My Wii U suddenly stopped working when I used a flash drive on it. Granted it was not a brand new flash drive so it was pretty much my own dumb fault. I live in the Caribbean so I had to ship my Wii U away with a relative to have it sent to Nintendo to fix. Took 4 months for me to see my Wii U again

Since Nintendo does not recommend flash drives because of limited read/write cycles? This is nonsense these days. Modern flash drives have more read/write cycles than you will ever need unless you buy some noname stuff, but noname hdds could be as buggy.

I don't understand. I remember the feminine outfits are the same for all female characters. Do you mean that one of those outfits is different if I equip Lyn with it instead of Elma for example?

She has an altered default model. The equipment itself wasn't altered.

You also have to watch out for random access speed issues.

People have had real issues with this, I don't know what brands they were using, but, especially with how hard the Wii U is on flash memory, it is better to be safe than sorry.

That can't be a flash drive issue, right? If the flash drive fails then how did it mess up your wii u? Unless Nintendo specifically said so. I find this one weird.

Yes. It just looks different on this one character.

From what I understand, Lin now always wears undergarments that prevent the most revealing outfits from being as revealing. These garments do have multiple shapes, depending on the outfit selected, but the equipment that you'll see on other female characters is unaltered on Lin; she just always wears something underneath it.

I think that most agreed that straight digital is the fastest overall, but disc+data packs isn't so far behind where it's not anywhere close to be a detriment. Straight from the disc is another story.

Yeah, I'm guessing it was some bad luck. But it was really the only thing that I did differently. Like I said, it was an older flash drive that had been used elsewhere, I tried to download the game I got from my Mario Kart 8 promotion and it just never worked. Then the Wii U suddenly stopped functioning.

I did buy a brand new flash drive specifically for my Wii U and it has been working great so far though.

There's not a lot of main quests in the game, and while each mission is substantial, there's not a lot of them. The reason it takes so long is that it's content-gated: You have to do a lot of other stuff before you can unlock story missions. There's a long period between each individual story mission.

Yeah, the level of pop-in is quite extreme, and that would detract from a lot of experiences. It definitely seems to be a rather remarkably optimized game in any scenario, which is quite welcome in this day and age.
