So watching the streams for a couple of hours now..
Is this the most bug-free launch game we've had in a long time or what? N is typically good at this but this one seems to take the crown just for the sheer scale and complexity of it all.

Could be, I hope so, but I think we'll find out when the game is actually released and the masses get their hands on it.
Damn I'm close to importing a Wii U and this game now. My wallet and the voice of reason in my head both object though.

For a game on this scale, yea it seems that way. Of course the sample size so far is tiny with only players from Hong Kong that got import copies.
Can you tell me how do you consider the plot and characterization of the first Xenoblade ? And how would you rate X far you've come in these aspects in comparison with the first one ?

Glad to see your impressions of the game. Especially on the navigation ball since, oddly enough, that was actually one of the features I was very eager to try out.
Also, I was wondering if I could get an impression about how good the on foot exploration is. From what I watched on the streams, it seems massively improved from the first game. Was also wondering if you could post some browser screens from the game if you ever got the chance.
Hope I'm not asking for too much.

I love XBC's combat, and this looks like a good improvement on it except that it seems like everything takes *way* longer to die than most fights in XBC. I don't know if the streamers are just bad at videogames, or if the balance is off. I hope it's the former.

Aren't most of the streamers using the loli tank girl? If so that's probably why everything is taking so long.

It's the TV in the common area. I'm only here for 5 months before I fly back to my country so buying a TV for my room isn't really an option (the Wii U is expensive as it is

I wouldn't do this if I was still in Europe, but Xenoblade Chronicles is my favorite game ever and this game releasing during the time I'm studying in Japan... not buying it would be mental torture
. Besides, it might be good practice for my Japanese It might be worth playing either game before judging.

You really need to play it. It looked kind of dumb for me too before I played the game on my own. Then I realized how great it is and I never thought that any fight was boring in my 120 hours playthrough.

Really? You'd think a giant game like this would have a big manual. No wonder some of the famitsu guys got confused on some of the systems with no tutorials.
Every streamer I've seen (and I've been watching A LOT of streams) is using their avatar and rarely switch characters. And if they do, it's not long before they go back.

I think I'll be using Elma most of the time because I consider her the "main character". I am assuming your character will just be in the background for most of the story similar to how White Knight Chronicles did it (which is a bit sad). I honestly wish they had just scrapped the player created character and went with a real protag (I guess Elma qualifies based on how much of the trailers seemed focused around her). I get no satisfaction in making a character because they usually end up being mute and irrelevant to the story. The only series I think did it okay was Mass Effect but mainly because your character still talked a lot and was involved in everything going on. I don't think your character talks in Xenoblade X.

And that is sad. I miss the PS2 era. You'd always get a colorful manual with everything to the characters, world and game systems. Nowadays your lucky to get a pamphlet with 2 pages of just the controller layout. :/

The GamePad is busy displaying all the other stuff. Just like in Xenoblade, you need all that stuff there during combat. Otherwise you don't know what you're doing.

It is but not much can be done about it at this point. Hopefully the a.i isnt as bad this time. Only boss fights I lost in xenoblade were because the a.i wouldnt do their damn job.
What happened? Too many spoilers? From what I can tell (I'm on my mobile) johndoe's stream is still up.

But yeah, I'm with you on that about the MC being created!:O Not sure what you were gonna say, but that's probably a good thing.
Mute protag doesn't have to mean he/she isn't real or irrelevant. Maybe it is in this game as I haven't played Xenoblade X yet and I'm staying far away from story bits til release, but there have been times were a mute protag was insanely important. Chrono Trigger for example.

Yeah, it'll be hard to go from Shulk who was vocal and did awesome badass things in cutscenes to a create a character that mostly just stares at the screen from what they've shown of the cut scenes while the other characters do things.
Still my most anticipated game though. No parity on release date sucks. :/
You missed SolloCat, he had a doll but he is advancing the stry too fast to my taste.
Though, the doll was really cool.

Spoil me, because this is something I've wanted to know for a while. Does the MC play a big role in the plot, or is Elma essentially the main character?
I don't know why everyone think Elma is the main MC since Lynn is also really active during dialogs too.
Edit : by the way, the player do have regulary a lot choice to show his reaction during dialogs like in Persona 4.
