Just finished the kizuna quest to get the flight unit for my Dolls.
Right but games are hyped up so much, games that sometimes have no game play shown, or a merely cgi trailer, or a short trailer filled with action and they get way too much attention. All before release and before we know much about it. I mean the concensus that oh that xenoblade game, as per Jose, 'i cringe when people put it up there with Mario and zelda, like go a couple of steps down'. It is not being seen as a must have, high quality game, when it is, and likely better than all these other AAA games, and this game has way more content. A shooter with a 8 hour campaign and online multi-player, which we get every year, gets wayyyy too much attention
Thank you so much, that means a lot!!! It seems great, I can't wait for itI think it'll probably be better, but I don't think I'm even halfway done yet, so who knows. The Soul Voices alone make up for the lack of visions in my opinion. The OC Gears, Dolls, and general customizability just make all of that even better.
The Dolls are a little hard to control, particularly when jumping, but they make exploring so much more fun. It was already fun on foot, trying to climb things and find the next area, but in the Dolls you can zoop around all over the place, even before you can fly.
I'm enjoying the story. The main story been reasonably interesting, but all of the little things happening around it make it feel much more alive. I think the later story quests will make everything even better, and I still have two continents left to explore(and large sections of the first three).
Yeah, I guess I'm just saying it just a shame how all this works. As the better games do not get the attention they deserve. Truly a shame. This game size and beauty is mind blowing.
Yep. Shame.Well, I wont go so far as to say better games arent being covered, as thats subjective (except not really, my personal tastes are above and beyond all others, as the absolute truth, through my approval does greatness flow)
But its definitley blatantly obvious that a games media coverage is directly proporotional to its marketing budget, and not the content or quality of the game.

Uh...pretty much just 'suggestions' you/your allies can call out in battle, for a specific color of art, and if someone else uses the suggested art, they both get HP and some extra effects for the art that completed it. I have an in-progress list of them(or at least the ones the avatar can select) in the thing I'm working on here. But what are soul voices and how do they work?
I was using the free Urban(light) until I hit 30, then switched to Lailah(mid). Probably not going to use any others, unless there's a cooler looking frame series somewhere.Out of curiosity, which mech weight class are you using? Light/Middle/ Heavy ?
- Quest design is bland
So what are kizuna quests exactly? The icon looked like a heart to heart icon from Xenoblade.
I think they are character quests.
Oh, like the main characters who can join your party? Elma, Lyn, etc?
But what are soul voices and how do they work?
You didn't read the OP?
*sadness*
I believe so. I think they flesh out their stories or something. Will need someone who is playing it now to describe it.
But what are OPs and how do they work?
He really said that?
its unfortunate, thats how it is, Xenoblade was more of a cult classic at best, so most people will ignore it, never consider it as worthy compared to bigger franchises like Mario and Zelda.
At least Nintendo does, in a way. and when the game comes its going to recieve positive reviews and some word of mouth.
you're not foxuzamaki
Mario and Zelda are IPs that have existed since before I was even born, with multiple masterpiece-tier entries, so those properties of course have had much, much more time to build up reputations, compared to a deliberately-un-Nintendo-like, T-rated game for advanced players, released in 2010 (2012 here in the US) whose second entry has yet to be released in all territories. Nintendo sure as heck is trying to make some money off of the Xenoblade ip though, what with the port that requires the New3DS, home menu themes, DLC for Xenoblade X, the Shulk Amiibo and his appearance in Smash, the bundle in Japan. Perhaps they know that among a group of enthusiastic customers, some may also be enthusiastic about spending money

Dumb question, but the game is telling me I need 15% exploration complete for the first area to proceed to chapter 4. Does this mean discovering new landmarks and planting probes, or is there another way to do it?
Also is there a way to tell on the map what field skill is required to plant a probe? I keep on getting told I don't have enough field skill to plant probes..
Just run around and discover new areas of the continent. I'm at 23% from doing some kizuna quests which take you to new segments.
Have you been playing it? Just wondering.
No, then?
Seems strange to be making such declarative statements about a game's quality (especially in relation to others) without having played it.
Have I ever mentioned how gorgeous this game is before?God this place looks cool. Nothing spoilery story wise, just a closer look at one of those floating islands we're seeing everywhere. It looks like it's from Oblivia so if you're super sensitive to "location spoilers" don't say I didn't let you know in advance.

Looking at it, it's just me or her face looks really good? Not that I think her face looks bad, but it really looks great on those picsElma looks great in casual tank tops.
Oh, someone asked for a link to a pic of the Overeds in the Enemy Encyclopedia. Here you can see that it shows you how many players have beaten them vs. been defeated by them in the lower box on the left hand side.
Spoiler Alert: this is an image of an Overed you fight in an early compulsory story mission, you have been warned! https://copy.com/0kxqh1jnpzzeYgNO
Huh. Does that mean that the game's sold at least 60k copies by now?
Elma looks great in casual tank tops.
That's Zeal from Chrono Trigger.
IMO, this game (and to some extent Xenoblade) is what 3D JRPGs should have been from the beginning but weren't due to hardware limitations or changed design priorities. The map is like an SNES RPG worldmap in 3D.
One of the best Primordia Miiverse pics I've seen yet
Female Vash, is that you?
I'd take way more screenshots if you didn't have to post a picture to miiverse just to do that. It takes way too long. When I get this game I'm going to be taking so many pictures of the sunsets and sun rises like I did in WWHD.
He's obviously being "hyped" by what he sees, though his point on a lack of coverage does ring true but that's more to-do with a the title being Japanese-limited for most western news sites. 8-4 had coverage of it on their podcast (with strong initial impressions), and they obviously will talk about it more in two weeks, as they are in Japan.
He's getting hyped by the strong impressions of many of the posters in here. The biggest negatives in as of so far have come from the music, entirely subjective, and the early quests being lackluster, which seems overall a universal statement. Everything else has been good to glowing, depending on who you ask.

God, that sky looks so fucking beautiful. Coming into this thread is just torture for me.

You can post them to an image uploading site via the web browser.

This also gives you the option for 720p screenshots instead of Miiverse sized ones.
You can use sites like Abload, minus or flickr or any site you want really. Just keep in mind that some sites do tend to compress your pictures.
Still doesn't make a lick of sense to me to call a game better than any other if you haven't even played the thing. Impressions from other people don't compare to experiencing it for yourself.
I don't think there's any grand conspiracy in the gaming media to not cover this game, although I admit I don't visit many gaming sites. Any lack of coverage is probably due to a lack of interest, both among the staff and perhaps their readers.
Oh, I didn't know that, thanks. You don't have to post a picture to miiverse to take a screenshot on the Wii U. You can just open up the internet browser, go to a image uploading website (I use abload.de usually) and upload the screen from there. It's pretty quick if you keep that webpage open in the background while playing. It would be nice if you could just press a button like on the PS4 (Share button) and it'd take a screenshot that you could upload later though.
