Really.
That is a bug without doubt
Unless you can actually set them to start off a certain way, its still fairly useless for the most part. I mostly use the get your ass back here and concentrate on this target commands. The other stuff like get out of your dolls etc since i dont have mine yet it doesnt really matter.
Im still trying to figure out the hate system, since its a bit odd how easy the enemy changes targets off of the loli tank. Wonder if the enemy AI specifically attacks the lowest lv members constantly on purpose.
Even when I tested it out myself, seemed a bit random with pulling hate and such. Its been bugging me for a while, since in MMOs I usually play a tank and if the game works the same way the damage output + taunting should generally keep the enemies on me. As only Elma can out damage me if she hits multiple crits after buffing herself up.
Due to this I took off the taunting abilities for now and just went for more damage and defensive buff for when in a bind. Since Im usually always fighting stuff a 5-8 levels higher than I am depending on the monster type.
Other small issue with the title is how the battle system works, it relies far too much on doing what the AI tells you to with the skills otherwise you will not be doing optimal damage. Big difference from the original Xenoblade. Not as big of a fan with this system as the previous game.
Everything else with the title is pretty great and most def one of the gems of 2015.
The overworld is very nice looking. I've still been to only two environment types, so looking forward to seeing more.
The complete lack of anisotropic filtering is terribly disappointing in a game like this, though. Depending on how you position the camera, you have the ground textures looking like they're straight out of Monster Hunter 4.
I'm still only level 15, but yeah, the aggro system doesn't make a ton of sense to me yet. I still haven't really looked into the soul voice stuff, so maybe there's some options to help generate hate in there? I don't know.
So far, I haven't really had to care about who is being targeted, but I have only been fighting mobs maybe 3 or 4 levels higher than me at most.
Some screens from my friend
Hey Hasemo, was browsing through twitter and I found that you posted the same screens you posted here. This is actually excellent for showing off what twitter compression can do to to an image. Gonna use these as an example. Hope you don't mind.
Open up each of these in a new tab, zoom if you need to and switch between them to see the differences

Awesome stuff.
For the future: make sure to just post links to pics from other zones that the first one.
Outline on pacing and flow:
- Game starts out slow with dumby quests but you free to go where you want, I did for about five hours. Then I died to a big monkeylizard in a lava pit.
- The first three chapters hold hands with the player to get you into the world and system. Like quest requiring exploration criteria, game makes sure you were outside and looking around.
- After chapter 4 the game really picks up. Quests get better but main story is the real star. No spoilers but later is even better!
- If you get stuck on hard boss. Hire online player with great gear to help.
- Get DOLL! Drive around, run over low level monsters, then fly!
- I like this story better than Xenoblade 1. Xenoblade 1 was very straightforward, this time more over the place and surprising at times. No Shulk sees future to spoil events of the future.
The Really Good:
- The world in a doll the first time you fly is jaw opening. FFXV won't have flying.
- Dolls
- Flying Dolls. Can we replace ugly characters with dolls? Next Xenoblade should be about just Dolls. In space.
- Flying
- Monster Hunter. Monster Hunter with giant robots.
- Exploration is great, world is huge and beautiful. (Some ugly graphical issues: no AF, lots of blurred textures even with install pack, pop in. Don't think even my PS4 could render this well, would render better but still. FFXV demo looked better at some things worse at others.)
- The game directs you to many interesting points but many others are very hidden and secret for you to discover.
- The story really picks up after chapter 4, like a good book that leads you into world and then speeds up. First few chapters are world build.
- Plenty to do after or along with the story.
The Good:
- I really like how you can hire other players to make cool team but also help if get stuck. World boss events and doll unlocks give everyone a goal but bosses are hard.
- Graphics are good.
- Most of the music.
- Most of the characters. They have some great quests to them, some characters are really great. Elma is great.
The Xenoblade:
- The combat. Its mostly the same + Dolls. Soul Voice replaces Visions for synergy and efficiency that you need to be good at for harder fights. Game is pretty easy early on but you have to get good at combat for later story bosses, have to be really good for hard world bosses. Soul Voice success helps for keeping enemies Hate-locked on a damage taker.
- Combat can feel airy but that's how it is in Xenoblade. Obviously not as good or physical as Blood or Bayonetta 2.
- Bathing suit/super robot/kamen rider cutscenes. Silly. Super serious cutscene = wearing shades and a bikini.
- Lots of dumb quests of kill monkeylizards or collect their tears but a lot more good quests than Xenoblade 1. Character quests are really well written but some characters are very dumb.
The Bad:
- Some of the music. NLA music is bad during day but I don't spend any time there.
- Some of the characters. Spoilers so won't say who.
- Graphics can be really bad at times if you care that much.
- Some long load times between a few cutscenes.
- Some text is teeny.
The ???????:
- Start is slow but only two hours or three long. Can probably really run through it now that I know how to speed up the chapters. Maybe even an hour on a new play.
- Doll is level blocked but by the time you get to dolls you should be only a level or two away.
- The music as a whole, hit or miss tracks.
- Silent protagonist "with choice". You have role but you never talk outside battle. But lots of cool development for "you" in story. Elma is big character though and she talks plenty.
- Heroic bravado. Clapping. Jean Claude Van Damme.
That all for now. Favorite game of the year but I only played Bloodborne and Kirby so far, best RPG in a time. Good luck FF, please be good.
Alright here we go, she's ~70 hours sunk and finished with the story thanks to a Golden Week binge, I'll just copypasta her list.
Did Vena enjoy it more or less than Xenoblade 1?

Good that he/she appreciated story more than Xenoblade , but I think it was too easy to do better .
It seems that the characters are once again poor .

My friend (being the "cool" guy he is) has a Japanese Wii U and a copy of the game. Got back from volunteering and he wouldn't let me play ;-;
Soul Voice seems like a worthy replacement to Visions, since it increases the feeling of involvement and camaraderie. Burst Affinity was nice because I was basically being "SICK BRO." But here it's like being "LET'S KEEP THE PACE UP." When I hear someone call out to me, I just get motivated. Want to see more, but I didn't sleep and went to my shift so it's time to crash.
Also, here's a clean version of Oblivia's day theme.

I'm still only on chapter 4 but I pretty much agree with Vena's friend except for the part about it being better than Bloodborne (story is still yet to really pick up for me though so impressions may change). It's a great game but there are a lot of minor issues that will likely annoy western reviewers though. I predict a metacritic of 80-85.

..Game picks up and gets pretty good at chapter 4 onwards. Chapter 5 was a blast after I hired a player avatar who did a ton of damage even though he was at my level.
80-85 would be low for this title given that most of the "wiggles" are pretty much identical to its lauded predecessor. And Xenoblade looked like sin, too.

Fair enough, maybe I'm low balling too much but it feels as though reviews have gotten a little tougher since when XC was released. It just feels to me that reviewers are always whining about wanting shorter, more action packed games with less chaff whereas in Xenoblade X it is very much not a pick up and play in short bursts type of game.
Personally I'd give it a 8.5 to a 9 from what I've seen but I get the feeling that a lot of other people won't see it that way.
Random picture from Sylvalum, the forth continent.
Level 50 Doll prices. My poor in-game wallet.
These two are totally random. I swear.
Sounds like the music is going to be divisive across the board. Not just in an overall sense but in the individual songs. I've definitely felt a gulf between the "really good" songs to the "why oh why?!" terrible songs.
What does this even means? O_O
From streams it really seems the maps are really big. Primordia seems to be bigger than Gaur Plains and Colony 9 combined O_O and that's not even counting the fact that you now can fly to the upper areas. Can someone tell me if there really are only 5 continents? The game is supposed to be 5 times bigger than xenoblade but that would mean 1 continent = xenoblade size map, and those continenets don't look xenoblade big. please put in spolier text for those who don't want to know.

So storywise it's closer to the earlier Xeno games' complicated, twisty plots? Really all I wanted to hear, XB's story was fun too and some of the twists were great, but it was a bit straightforward. I like convoluted stories.
^there is a dedicated thread for story discussion with spoilers. Link in OP!!
This post could contain a major story spoiler (I'm not sure, that's why I'm asking) so please don't click it if you haven't finished the story. For anyone who has though, it would be great if you could answer my question.
Potential story spoiler:
I'll keep this quick.have aDoes Elma? If so, have I just spoiled big part of the story for myself? All I'm looking for is a simple answer, so please don't go into detail if this is true.second or "real" form
You want me to go into a spoiler thread? I'm trying to avoid spoilers, that's why I asked here.
If this is against the rules of the thread, I'll delete my post.
10 bucks says I found another saga fan who has no clue what actually happened in xenoblade.
Yes, she does.
It's an important part of the story, but just that fact alone won't really indicate why it's important.
