Ok from http://www.toei-anim.co.jp/tv/xenosaga/index02.html I've checked up on the official complete staff list. It's not as bad as original envisioned because it's now more complete and there were some errors in the previous one.

Supervising Director: Shigeyasu Yamauchi (Bunch of DBZ movies, Saint Seiyu)
Chief Director: Koga Tsuyoshi (Assistant director on One Piece and Yugioh movies)
Production-in-charge: Ryuichi Sugimoto (One Piece movie, various Toei stuff)
Series Coordinator, screenplay, supervisor: Takeda Yuuichirou (Banner of the Stars, Banner of the Stars II)
Character design: Nobuteru Yuki (Escaflowne, X, Heat Guy J)
Animation Director: Satou Masahiro (Nadja, Saikano, Gilgamesh)
Mechanical Design: Hiroyuki Ogawa (Elfen Lied)
Art Director: [can someone transliterate this name?] (One Piece, Digimon Tamers, Interlude OVA)
Color Design: Kunion Kunio (Utena TV, Utena movie, Kaleido Star)
Composer: Kousuke Yamashita (Nobunga's Ambition game series)
Production: Xenosaga Production Commitee
Collaboration: Toei Agency

Ok so it doesn't SOUND as bad. But it still looks awful. Here's hoping for the best, maybe being Toei and cheapass as they are for each ep, this can run for really long and cover ALL the episodes! :D

Dead

well not really...yet
Supervising director did Saint Seiya?? ahahah AWESOME

Series Coordinator, screenplay, supervisor: Takeda Yuuichirou (Banner of the Stars, Banner of the Stars II)
see that gives off a glimpse of hope

The 15 second TV Spot is up.... looks...... hopeful!

*url is dead*

edit: Oh and here's a slightly touched up image of the XS Anime poster pic that was in Newtype (original photo taken with a cellphone, thanks Bebpo!)

*image removed, better quality image below*

Yeah, I'm tempting fate here, but...

...considering how badly EP1 and 2 sucked, how much worse could the anime be? At the worst it would just be a shorter path through the same dregs, right?

(*thinks Bebpo actually understated how bad EP2 was, but...)

Yeah he "liked" it more than I did, but then he usually does. :)

I agree, if the anime can be a serious and faithful adaptation of a complete story. Why not? Ep2 sucked balls anyway. But seriously, even THINKING the anime might be good is tempting faith at this point! ^^;;

The art so far looks pretty average, I won't judge it until I actually see the animation though. Is it confirmed that it is going to follow the events in the game, or is it going to be a side story/pseudo sequel type thing?

Serious faithful adaptation? Think, man! That's the road to ruin. Yet another anime with an ending so answerless we might as well have never watched it.

For once, I'm looking forward to the brazen script changes that an anime studio can provide! A point to the story! Questions answered!

...

...oh god it really is going to be terrible, isn't it?

I'll just go huddle in the corner with some Keroro Gunsou episodes now. -_-;

Hot KOS-MOS action mmmm gotta love that hottie. She is just smokin bros hot hot hot.... yeah this will be good to watch on saturday mornings.

Roshi

Wario64

works for Gamestop (lol)
This might not be too bad considering Xenosaga was like an anime to begin with, long cutscenes and all. Might be suitable as an anime than a video game

Kiriku

SWEDISH PERFECTION
"Series Coordinator: Takeda Yuuichirou (Banner of the Stars, Banner of the Stars II)"

This sounds promising at least. Even though I liked Crest of the Stars more, Banner of the Stars I and II were definitely good as well. And they are similar to Xenosaga in setting, obviously. I don't know how much of an impact the series coordinator has on the overall result though...

His role on Xenosaga The Animation is as an overall supervisor, scriptwriter and story editor which is largely the same role he played on BotS 1 and 2. Basically he would be incharge of adapting the game (or in the case of BotS the novel) into an episodic anime series and if his previous work says anything he would either be writing all the scripts himself or at least half or more of them.
