My major beef with the game. Ugh. The voice acting was really bad.u_neek said:It's more like: HA HA HA HA........ HA.....HA........HA HA.....HA...

Miburou said:It's my favorite Final Fantasy game. It's also the first RPG I've played in Japanese, and the only one I've ever replayed (the NA version). I loved the battle system, liked the characters, and think that it pulled off the whole cinematic-RPG thing very well. Also, the voice acting, as flawed as it might've been in some cases, still made it better than if there was no voice acting.
The worlds were breathtaking and varied. The music, while not my favorite, was always appropriate. And the battle system is the most fun I've had in an RPG. The only real flaw was the crappy animation when the characters were talking (not during the cut-scenes).
I also actually liked the linearity of the game. You're supposed to be a stranger from another world who's tagging along wit ha group on a mission, so it only makes sense that you have no control over where you're going.

Actually...I never gave FFX a chance because I was so turned off by how poor FF7 was (that and I didn't feel like buying another PS2)Wakune said:Only the people where FFVII was their first RPG...and Nintendo fans
AssMan said:I couldn't stand FFX's linear world map, sphere grid sucked ass compared to junction system, music was meh, and the main character was even a bigger douche than Zidane.

Pimpwerx said:I liked the materia system over the sphere grid (which pretty much forced you on a track). I would much prefer the fighting system from Vagrant Story though...*dodges fruit*. PEACE.
Zeo said:FFX is awesome, and I don't even think it gets that much hate, other than some pretentious "gamers" on forums.
It's probably the most mainstream popular FF ever, behind FFVII. Especially with females.
rod said:ffx is the worst ff ever imo. i loved the battle system and the sphere grid though. but the game was so fake. tidus and yuna? gimme a break
Tellaerin said:Fake? I think you're thinking of Squall and Rinoa.![]()

Tamanon said:Ya know, Final Fantasy X doesn't deserve the hate
Optimistic said:Yes it does. It's so utterly generic in almost every way -
*The characters - cookie cutter amalgmations of various characters from previous FFs. There was barely an interesting character in sight.
*The music - worst FF soundtrack ever. Not one memorable tune. No seriously, I can't even fucking remember a single one.
*The plot - seriously, what a piece of shit. Same shit in different clothing, only it doesn't seem like the developers even tried with this one. It was an uninspired, tedious mess.
*No overworld. What the fuck. I expected linearity, but fuck me this is taking it too far.
The only aspects of FFX I found even remotely entertaining were the excellent graphics, and the sphere system. The battle system was neithere here nor there...it wasn't offensive, but neither was it really entertaining.
So in conclusion, FFX deserves every drop of hate that falls upon it. No I take that back, thsi game doesn't even deserve the attention required to hate it. Just don't go near this piece of shit, stick with FFs IV to IX instead.

Tellaerin said:I could go on for pages about why I think you're wrong here, but considering how many times I've done that before on old GAF, I'll just give you a quick recap of the high points instead: Squall is an emotional cripple who lashes out at the people who try to befriend him, and repays their kindness with abuse through most of the game. He is, in short, an asshole. The excuse for this is that he's withdrawn from people because of the painful events of his childhood. Tidus also has issues (with regard to his father) that have left their mark on him, but he doesn't let those issues control him. He hasn't withdrawn into a shell over it and he doesn't treat the people around him like an ass. Right from the outset, he's a better (and certainly stronger) man than Squall was. I might have overlooked FF VIII's other flaws, but Squall's unlikeable nature pretty much poisoned the entire game for me.
The romance between Tidus and Yuna developed naturally, while Squall's relationship with Rinoa seemed painfully contrived. The whole thing felt awkward and forced, particularly the way we're expected to believe that a character who's spent most of the game being an utter dick has been magically transformed through the power of love. In fact, that entire subplot felt like a straight-to-video teen romance flick - moody loner jock (Squall) is brought out of his shell by bubbly cheerleader-type (Rinoa).
Last but not least, if you honestly believe that FF VIII had a better story than FF X, either you didn't finish X or you're on crack. VIII was such a train wreck in the plot department, it'd make anything look good by comparison. I've got two words for you: TIME KOMPRESSION.![]()
