Eminem said:he made one? i thought he only made the survival one, which is very different. though i could be wrong....
Eminem said:yeah, this is a very tough opening week. in survival i went with the rams
Archaix said:I can't in good conscience ever go with the Rams in survival. Granted, "Pick whoever is playing the 9ers this week" worked fairly well last year, but I don't think they'll go 2-14 again(I don't think they'll go better than 4-12, but it's still poorer odds).
Even Pittsburgh is tough to pick because they generally start out badly. And I don't want to pick the Pats so early. At the moment, I'm leaning towards the Bengals...now I've got to go take a shower.

Above are the names and confidence points (out of 16) of people who picked Oakland over New England. Guess you couldn't understand the butterfly ballot. :lol

New England having lost Ty Law and Tedy Bruschi was not as attractive a pick to me as an Oakland team that had gained so much. Midway through the second I was feeling real good about my pick.
I'm assuming you picked the Pats, Mat? Why? Because they won the superbowl last year? Because their coaching staff (that is missing two key components from last year in Romeo Crennel and Charlie Weiss) is godly? Because your 'friends' did? The fact of the matter is, if you even saw the game, had the Raiders played the kind of D that they played late - the game would have been totally different.
I don't understand the butterfly ballot? Maybe you should shut the fuck up about a sport you still know very little about friend.
Matlock said:Although the Pats are not quite the team they were last year, the advantage was still in their hands--Bill Belichick. Even though there were a couple of huge changes in the roster and staff, I sat back and thought to myself...Over the last few years, constant changes on the team hadn't really impeded progress.
On the other side of the ball, you have a team that, on paper, looks excellent. Lots of veterans with stats behind them. But...they don't really meld together well as a team. Is it the fault of Norv Turner mediocre coach extraordinaire? Is it the fault of the massive egos?
...who knows.
What I do know is that when I looked at the teams historically and stat-wise, and didn't just "follow my friends" (other than Bowser, all of the core GAF Sports Clique supported the Raiders, nice coincidence!), I came up with the conclusion that the Patriots were ultimately the stronger team with a much better chance of winning.
'course, last night was scary for a half, as the Raiders were playing at a level that reminded me more of the Vikings than anything else. They showed promise, I admit...but the second half came up, and things just turned back to the Pats. Collins remembered who he was, the defense cracked here and there, and the Pats pulled it out. Have to give props to the Oakland D and special teams, because they did some nice things here and there...but after their performance tonight, I seriously doubt they'll make a wild card spot, much less break .500.
P.S. Butterfly ballot is what lead to misvotes for Buchanon over Gore in Florida. Too old of a reference?
P.P.S. I don't care if I'm wrong the rest of the season, but jesus christ...picking Oakland over New England? That's an anomoly, further evidenced by nearly 90% of Yahoo fantasy sports users picking New England.

Cerebral Palsy said:7) As much as I hate the Raiders, I AM FUCKING SICK OF THE PATS.
Not like I backed up my pick with 16 confidence points or something. I lost a whole two points in that pick. And if the Raiders defense actually showed up for the first half of the game it could have been very different. Anyway, I'm not losing sleep over the pick. A game that really could have went either way, and minimal points at stake.
