YAKUZA 5 LOCALIZED FOR PS3

God, this makes me so happy. I had lost hope completely. Thank you Sony, thank you! Hopefully it comes out in U.S before July of next year sometimes.

Yes. Yakuza games as awesome as they are don't change much from game to game all that much specially in terms of gameplay. I will catch up on the story through in game cutscene viewer or youtube but have no feeling towards playing it. Now I just really want Yakuza 0 so I hope we get it within a year of its Japanese release. Besides, the idea of gaming on the PS3 again doesn't appeal to me.

I can empathize with this -- it was the same mindset I had before playing 5. However, after playing 5, I really can't believe that I ever thought about not playing it. The combat is faster and tighter, Kazuma's super saiyan mode makes you feel like a bad ass every time it goes off, and the taxi driving mini-game is easily my favorite Yakuza mini-game in the entire franchise (and I've played every game).

There's enough new stuff in 5 to make it feel fresh. Trust me on it -- you'll thank me later.

Digital is enough. Thank you SEGA (when was the last time I thanked SEGA?) and thank you Gio Corsi. I was mad as hell when they announced Yakuza for China, going crazy with the hastag #buildingthechineselist on Twitter. My apologies xD
Now, seriously.. Yakuza Zero or I'm going mad again.

I have no history with this series, but I'll play my part and buy it for you guys. There is no reason this shouldn't have happened earlier.

You are an awesome person.

Coming into this thread to say that you're skipping the game but telling everyone else to buy it so you can get Y0 is something else.
Congrats.
If back when we were begging for this game someone had told me that some fans would react with "I'll watch it on YT" or "I don't want it cos it's digital" I would've laughed in their face.

also saying that Yakuza games don't change much while saying you have no interest in playing the one that brought the most changes? sure, ok

Damn, was trying to get a physical copy of Yakuza 4 on ebay but prices are higher than I expected. I'll just get the digital version.

I'd hug you if I met you in person, just for this lol.

Anyways, looking at my game cases, it kinda sucks that I won't be able to put Yakuza 5 beside the rest of the series. But at this point, I don't care. I'll buy it and play the hell out of it.

I think I might run through 3 and 4...even Dead Souls before 5 releases. I'm so pumped that I'll do a Yakuza marathon.

Wow this is huge news. I only played Yakuza 3 but I liked what I played but never got around to playing the others. I'll probably get this when it comes out.

I really hope we get Yakuza Zero. I downloaded the Ishin demo off the Japanese store yesterday just for fun and it's pretty good looking! Will give Yakuza 4 a go and then move on to Yakuza 5 when it releases.

That's why I said Im a terrible person lol. Y4 was the first Yakuza I played and thoroughly enjoyed, looking at videos of other games in the franchise convinced me that its best not to play them annually because I don't want to get burnt out on the characters and gameplay. I mean we give western games flack for annualization so I don't think Yakuza is free from this, don't get me wrong its an awesome franchise but its not one that can be enjoyed everytime simply because nothing really changes from game to game unless one REALLY likes the story and setting.

I liked what I played of the Japanese Y5 demo a couple of years ago, so definitely gonna get this when it comes out. Also opened up my Y3 box and found the battle pack dlc voucher expires on 28th March 2015, which I hadn't actually redeemed.

Sega didn't want to slap some English subtitles and menus on the game until Sony stepped in, no way are they going to work on a new port...

You're understating how expensive localization for a game can be. But yes, it took Sony to even get this to happen so a PS4 port is out of the question.

pretty generous expiration date. so many other Sony games had codes that expired earlier.

I haven't played a Yakuza game, I plan on picking up 4 this week (along with Suikoden 2). Hopefully 4 is a good place to jump into the series.

I said it earlier in the thread but it probably bears repeating

I strongly recommend playing at least 4, but ideally 3 and 4 before playing 5. 5 is not a friendly point to jump into it, story-wise.

I still have bouts where I remember this is happening and then just stare off into the distance. I'm trying to figure out what I did to deserve this.

With all this excitement, I decided to mop up some Yakuza 4 trophies. I finished every substory a while ago, but still had quite a few to go through: pachinko, darts, bowling, weapon master, star of the coliseum (all of that was pretty easy), mahjong (this took 3.5 hours of trying which was really awful) and finally the hostess trophies. I gave after about three hours of going through Hostess Maker and I have one more girl left. After that I'll have to complete every remaining hostess substory (I only finished two during my initial playthrough), clear the Ultimate Skill missions and play through the games two more times (on Hard to unlock Ex. Hard and then on Ex. Hard to unlock the trophy). Already put about 90 hours into the game haha.

I'm new to the series - where and how should I start

Isshin/Zero is PS4 right?

(I would want to play everything on the PS4 - but oh well)

That ain't the intro music we going to get if it ever gets localized anyway. Yakuza 3, 4 and now 5 all have different main theme from the Japanese version.

It just seems to be an instrumental version of the theme songs. At least in 4's case.

3 had both the opening and ending removed for an instrumental theme and a new created piece used in their place respectively. 4 only lost the opening (Butterfly city), which to be fair didn't mash up as well as For Faith did in the Western version.

5 is interesting because while it's more than likely that the opening song will (sadly yet understandable) be cut, they also have to deal with the licensed music inserted through out the game, that has to take some effort to replace them if they aren't renewing the licenses.

Getting Daigo to dress up like a woman and act like a couple with Majima to draw out zombies was pretty funny haha

I loved that part, I found it especially amusing given with what went down in 4.

I'd love to hear what kind of finagling they had to do with Bandai Namco concerning Taiko no Tatsujin.

Happy for you guys, but I'll keep on importing RGG games from Japan.

Guys, I never played Yakuza and I'm hoping to get both PS2 games but I'd like to know if any content was cut from the western releases?

I know a few side missions were cut from Yakuza 1 and probably from 2 as well. There was a mission where you dress up in a purple gimp suit that was slashed.

Also its pretty telling they put Yakuza 4 and DS on PSN.

Try and get some new fans.

Could someone else make a thread for that news by the way. It was mentioned briefly on the stage so im sure many have forgot.

Guys quit these dreams of physical copies, Ishin and PS4 ports of Y5. Start with the Y5 we're getting and move on to the next most likely title which would be Zero. It was hard enough to get to this point as is.

Also its pretty telling they put Yakuza 3 and 3 on PSN.

I can't see Yakuza 3 on either EU or US PSN, it just says "Disc Only". Seems to be just 4 and Dead Souls.
