I've never played a Yakuza game, but I really loved the story and gameplay in Sleeping Dogs, probably more than every other GTA style game. Should I look into this Yakuza 5? Is it a good entry point?

do you realize how much text has to be localized? how tragically few people check for this? this is the only way we'd be getting this. please believe if we compared shelves i'd wager i love physical goods more than most of you, but the logic here is about as good as in those early Bayo 2 threads: this would not be happening any other way.

Get Yakuza 4 now (3 has a great story but more dated gameplay). It is not open world but really fun.

right, and when Yakuza first launched over here, sega advertised it & even threw $$ at big names for a dub that we never saw again (which i'm cool with anyway)

that's them testing the waters. if you see more physical Mikus, it worked. We literally got 5 yakuza games even before this announcement, so they're not exactly comparable situations.

Hey I bought that turd called Dead Souls as well. Sony seems to be collaborating with Sega. Which means it would be EASY for Sony to just press a limited amount of copies. They say #4theplayers all the time. Where is the problem? I would definitely buy that day 1. They just don't want to spent money on it and they also didn't bother at all with backward compatibility. It's their own fricking fault.

Even a game like Drakengard 3 got a physical release. In US only, but I imported that. I actually imported the limited edition, which was limited to 5000 copies. They could do something exactly like that. Ask for $100, I wouldn't care. But nope, digital only.

I don't pay top dollar for DD is the only thing.I have too many other physical things I would like to buy that become more pricey/rare as time goes by, while digital titles have sales often, and prices for such a title that I would pay.

EDIT: physical would warrant a day-1 preorder, digital I will do, but not right away. Not a "no buy" just a "buy later".

However, currently there's plenty of evidence with PS3 titles being digital-only and PS4 versions doing just fine in physical print. Tons of Namco and K-T games have done that like Gundam and Dynasty Warriors (however the EU market did get those physical PS3 copies). I have no doubts with a PS4 coming out, but the fact of the matter is that there will be no physical copy of 5 no matter how many are purchased. (Still a slim, but doubtful possibility).
