YAKUZA 5 LOCALIZED FOR PS3

no we need the HD Remakes of Y1 and Y2. At least give me Y2 on PSN so I can play through all of them again before Y5 comes out!

From a quick search, it seems that Y1 and Y2 have 60 Hz options, if anyone can confirm this for their PS2 versions, I would love if SEGA released them in coming weeks on both EU and US PSN.

I have a retail PS2 copy of Yakuza 2, but can't remember if it had that option ^^;

I can confirm it, they do.

I just want to play 2 without having to hook up my PS2. Lazy status.

Sega should setup an online store so that gamers could buy a disc version directly from them. That way they only produce the quantities that are ordered

Pretty sure that's not how it works. The cost of producing discs one at a time is much higher per disc than printing thousands (if not millions) of them.

I got all the games released but i still havent played any, just 4 hour of the first .
i didnt have the courage to start it since i thought we will never get the 5.
I will start them soon and just got e bluray of the movie.

You know, I'm glad we're finally getting 5 localized, I know I'll pushing for it in the hopes that it does well...because I know it's not cheap to localize this one, especially if they decide to keep in certain licenses. I also hope that Sony themselves help market it because that would be great, it's not like SEGA didn't try with Yakuza 4 and actually did some what with Dead Souls, but a boost in awareness would be welcomed.

That being said if we DO get Yakuza 0 localized, GAF I have a suggestion (that I'll be pushing either way) for the OT title: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWZ_UqLWjUQ

US Numbers w/ sources, others beat me to it though:

Yakuza 1: 56K, Yakuza 2: 24K (first five months)
Yakuza 3 did 52k, 4 26k and DS 6k
Worse than TW101

It really can't be overstated how niche this series is, and how lucky we were to get any of them. Pick a God - any God - and pray to them for the Yakuza 5 we are about to receive.

I hope we can make this perform at least as well as Y3. Let's contribute as much as we can by spreading the word and doing our part.

The games have, I believe, performed better in Europe. Don't recall where I saw the numbers, however.

Hopefully, awareness in general for 5 will be better since it was a part of a big conference like PSX. But I agree, the more we can do to keep the game fresh in people's minds, the better.

I just did my part and bought Yakuza 4 on PSN.

Surely that will show Sony and Sega that there is genuine demand for the franchise.

just saw this news and... it's absolutely GREAT that this is happening! I held off on playing Y4 because what was the point if the sequels wouldnt come over but NOW? DAY ONE to show my support (i would have played it eventually because i just love the Y games though)

dude, Y4 is excellent. so many awesome new characters.

Well, it doesn't change anything.

If Y5 performs we WILL see Zero as well, that's almost a guarantee.
It might be worth giving a shot anyway just to see if it'll take off on PS4 when it didn't on PS3. Not that that seems particularly likely, though this time the series has built a reputation, the PS4 is the lead platform, and the quantity of AAA titles has gone down in general and this seems close enough to one. Also this time they can play it safe, have a limited physical release, and be primarily digital otherwise unless it actually blows up.

Yakuza ~80k
Yakuza 2 ~40k
Yakuza 3 ~50k
Yakuza 4 ~20/30k

Considering it took almost two years for Yakuza 2 to be localized, and it came out on PS2 in late 2008, when most people were jumping over to the next gen consoles, that number isn't exactly surprising. Then of course 3 and 4 received fuck all marketing, and were pretty much sent out to die.

I guarantee that Yakuza would sell well on PC. There's not a doubt in my mind.

I'm not even port begging since my PS3 is still hooked up and I'll be buying Y5 on day one!

Heh I'd like to think so too, at worst it'll do as well as VC did which based on certain Tweets, did really really well.

This will be the only full price game I buy in the forseeable future.

Day fucking one, I'm so god damn happy.

That said it's going to be odd being the only Yakuza one I don't have as a physical disk.

Well the future of the series, as with any series depends on the fans, without support, stuff stops coming over or just stops entirely.

So always show your support when you can.

The numbers don't tell the entire story, though. Sega did a pretty bad job of selling the games, skipped some spin-offs but released others (that were critically panned), never really working with the media to help get Yakuza like Tecmo has been trying to do with Musou games recently, releasing games with boxart like this

The game was never going to be a huge success but they could have gotten better, not-declining numbers if they gave a shit.

That drop from 3 to 4. Wow. Knew the series sold poorly, but I thought it was consistent from 3 to 4 and Dead Souls killed it by being terrible. Definitely gives some perspective.

those are US sales, a lot of people imported 4 from europe and bizarrely, australia, because there were limited editions and steelbooks and stuff

Okay, I just bought Yakuza 4.

Time to get into this Japanese Crime Drama, while I wait for Yakuza 5 to come out.

One thing to keep in mind is that managing the 'hub world'/the city will take a while, you will get lost sometimes but will end up memorizing much of the city for faster navigation.

Another thing to keep an eye out is how Taiga Saejima can learn his special moves. Ish is always hilarious.

...and yes Akiyama is a boss.

I'm not sure that could account for a 20k drop, could it? Seems like even if a lot of people imported from elsewhere, you'd lose 10k max. Even that seems ridiculously high and importers would only count for a few thousand.

Akiyama is the best character in the series that wasn't in the first game.

In the hype I ordered Dead Souls even though it's a spinoff. Hope it's a least alright.

Can't wait for Yakuza 5 day one!

Dead Souls is fine. If you like the rest of the games, it's a fun side story. Hopefully you've already played 4 though. It kind of assumes you know what happened in that game and has a bunch of jokes/references to the plot. I think it even tells you when you load the game you should play 4 first?
