So I just unlocked the "Komaki Roundhouse Attack" & I'm confused on how I use it. I looked it up in the abilities menu but so far I can only execute normal kicks & punches like usual.

Push the analog in the opposite direction of your combo and hit attack. You'll turn and start attacking that way

Park says that the post-abortion thing was the "first time" that he hit her, implying that it happened more than just the one time.

This is a detail that was a consequence from the choice of words in the translation. The "implication" does not exist in the original Japanese.

I'm glad you beat that level but what happened with your wife after? Were you relegated to the couch for the night?

Nah, she's not like that. Turns out she was more interested in what the male grunting noises that were going on for a half hour were.

Tonight I got three prizes in one round of UFO catcher and I feel like a god.

Woah, thanks for clearing that up. I remember that bothering me back when I played as it sounded very out of character.

Well decided to give up on trying to max out the dragon style , can't be bothered trying to find specific maiimas everywhere ! Would have tried more but destiny 2 next week .

But overall I really enjoyed the game . Wasn't expecting it to be as good as zero and it wasn't , story , sidequests , mini games were all superior in Y0, but the story was still very good as the yakuza games have better story's than most other games out there anyway .

I really liked the combat in this game though , loved the kiwami finishers . The story was top notch as usual and liked the relationship between haruka and kiryu .

Obviously a remake didn't have as much Dev money put at it like a new game like zero (well maybe not FF7!) but for a remake this was top notch .

Looking forward to 6 and then kiwami 2!

^ SOS- is hard still fun, given all the above? I played Zero on hard so don't really want to go back to normal.
Most of the times it is. But during certain story fights, when you are fighting a lot of enemies at the same time, it can get frustrating.

All in all, I still think you should play this on hard. If you found it to be too much, you can always lower the difficulty later on. (at least I think you can)

Ok I'm in early chapter 8 where you gotta find
the three gangs
with zero fucking clue where to go. I found one, but then the other two the game is "lol fuck u go fun around and get attacked every 5 seconds"

Go to the
park right next to the pocket racer place, beat up the fools there then go to the small lot in the Champion's District.

Fight can be tough so bring health replenishment.

2 was an (excellent) standalone story, it doesn't really have much impact on future games. The Kiwami 2 stuff doesn't look like it'll change that much since the new stuff seems focused on tying into 0. So you should be safe to carry on with the series while putting 2 aside for now.

3, 4 and 5 are much more interconnected though so it would be harder to separate one out and say that it's skippable, which is complicated by the introduction of multiple playable characters.

If you are only interested in Kiryu's story then 4 isn't that essential as he's kinda there for the sake of being there, the other 3 characters are more the drivers of the main plot. However 2 of the 3 new characters from 4 return in 5. One of them is in the 'there for the sake of being there' category so it might be hard to understand why he's there without playing 4 first. The other has a much more involved plot in 5 (after having a really involved plot in 4), which might be more difficult to follow without playing 4 first.

So I should just continue with 3? It still doesn't feel right to skip Yakuza 2.

It is almost completely standalone as has been mentioned. You can skip it and play Kiwami 2 when it comes out.

Or you could get a ps2 copy.

Or wait for Kiwami 2 first, your call.
I'll wait. Remake looks fantasic and probably comes with a lot of QoL improvements. I think I played Yakuza 3 back then up to fat boss. Is it harder than Kiwami? Debating if I should go with easy for the rest of the PS3 games.

There's always been a huge distinction in the series about killing yakuza vs killing civilians. At least, Kiryu makes that distinction and harps on it regularly. So, Majima taking out his boys is a little different from what went down in 0, because
Makoto was a civilian and a completely innocent and helpless one, at that. And there was the issue of her being pretty much entirely dependent on him almost right away, which is far more sentimental and hard to deal with than a gaggle of punks who put on fancy suits and like to think they're more important than they are.

And that's actually fairly consistent with Majima's character for most (all? someone with a better memory than me can correct me) of the series. You really don't see him going after civilians, but yakuza are fair game.

If you're looking for something deeper beyond that to be explained to you in 4 and/or 5, though, prepare to be disappointed. Like someone else here said, this is an issue of 0 screwing the pooch on his characterization and turning him into someone who he never was and selling new fans on a character who never existed.

Way more jarring for me, rather than the murder thing, was how 0 Majima was so ridiculously respectful of women, though. Because uh. In 5 it's revealed that
he used to beat his wife
so it's like lol what the fuck are we expected to buy the shit he's selling in 0?

You're bringing up a very good point with the Yakuza/Civilian thing. I think I can handwave the issue using that.

It's a shame that my favorite character in the series so far kinda died with Zero, but oh well. The series is still full of amazing charismatic characters, even this Majima is very fun to watch on his own merits.

Anyone starting to work on the plat with strats to share?
I'm currently "working" one the weapon/armor gathering and it seems to be a lot of farming for money. I hope one does not need all the weapons cause I'm missing a lot of the 400k+ point arena ones and I would hate to have to grind for that.

Plan is def get 100% cp before going legend since as I understand it you can carry over almost everything here. I'm already dreading the car chase on legend X_x.

Doing the
car chase
part. This is quickly becoming unfun, if you aren't going to bother with inverted controls (which sucks) at least have reasonable checkpoints

There's also some in between buildings and other places that require first person mode so keep an eye out.

Stand close and use first person mode (press R3). After that you should be able to get it by pressing X. Edit: ninja'd.

Go into first person mode and look at it.

look at it in first person

OBVIOUSLY! What do you think I am, thick or something?!

Cheers.

The problem with Majima is that the focus and importance he's been given through the series varies a lot. In the original he was a one off pseudo rival who shows up like thrice in the entire game and was never meant to be important. In 2 he's an ally with more importance but still not a big deal, aside from a couple great scenes... And in subsequent games he's kind of a pillar to the stories but still doesn't have meaningful protagonism, if that makes sense lol.

Then 0 happened and he was the GOAT.

I'm not sure what's his role in 6, but I don't think you should give up on him yet. I feel it's very likely that we'll see more of the "real" Majima in Kiwami 2 due to him having a playable scenario that's completely new and linked to 0.

I hope there are no more bosses with guns lol.

That's top 3 worst bosses in the series material and it sounds like he's not much better in this lol. In the original with the ridiculously limited and clunky combat it was a nightmare.

Well pistol man boss on the roof top was awful and the horrendous western theme didn't make it any better. This is what you're saving weapons for.

And therein lies a problem of sorts. For many (myself included) 0 was their entry into the Yakuza series, where Majima was the star of the show and where they never had any experience of the older PS2/3 games. So really for these new fans Yakuza starts at 0. These remakes represent a sort of soft reboot of the franchise so it's going to be odd in many ways to see a major character from 0 be relegated to cameo appearances, unless SEGA introduces some sort of new role for Majima with subsequent remakes.

Where can I find whiskey? Man, I hate this. I got stuck in those parts in every Yakuza game, I simply hate when the game forces me to visit all the stores in the map just to find an item.
I think it's the reason I only did the main plot in every Yakuza game, with 0 I tried to do some sides but I got bored, in Kiwami I did 20+ but I got bored again, I'm on chapter 5 and I'm thinking of just going with the story as usual.

Beats me. I locked out and got some from a locker.

If one goes through every Majima encounter and unlocks every Dragon ability, do you still get Majima Everywhere content, or does he stop appearing?

I got one by helping a civilian.

IIRC I got one from a locker.

So is anyone BESIDES Amazon selling the non-steelbook edition? I prefer my collection looking as organized as possible and steelbooks ruin that.

I'm also not buying digital, period.
