Pimpmeister general Mr. Hiroshi Yamauchi has announced his plans to retire from a management position at Nintendo. He will keep his consultation role, but all his other responsibilities are going.

The date for the change is 29th June.

What? So he was still an executive at Nintendo? Did he only relinquish his president role or something? Geez, Yamauchi is immortal.

WTF? I knew he was still involved in the company but I thought he already WAS in the consultation role.

This bodes poorly for Revolution if it was his idea.

Hey, strictly from a hardware perspective, the GC was pretty nice (other than the Indigo shell).

I'm talking about the DS. Apparently the idea of dual screens was his back in 2002 or something.

Would be nice if they announced the Ultra Famicom the very next day and everyone proceeded to take their heads out of their asses. :)

NOPE the revolution has no yamauchi input i believe the first EVER console from Nintendo Yamauchi free
You're high if you think Yamauchi had no involvement in Revolution. Delusional. Seriously. Where do you people get this stuff, anyway?

i believe iwata has said Mr Yamauchi has stayed out of this, and Yamauchi himself said all decisions are now out of his hands and he has full faith in what they are doing at Nintendo.

*in unison* "he wasn't already retired?"

Thats what I thought :(

He is like the Michael Jordan of basketball, past his prime but one of few men with the ability to retire multiple times

I wish it was from their ass, because at least then it would be entertaining =/

If they call the Revolution Ultra Famicom I'll be too happy to breathe. Oh, dreams...
And as far as Iwata-san coming off the leash, is that a joke? He's a money man. He sits there only thinking of the bottom line of the company. He's not going to go bananas.

Just read that there was an article today saying that DS can be played by people from 5 to 75 years old. Yamauchi is 77 so he probably felt the need to resign after reading the article :D

Also, Iwata is planning to start putting DS in non-game shops. He's looking into putting them in pet stores first, not to directly sell to customers, but to expose the DS to more people.
