They are a good band dude, mainstream whores they may be, you can most def hear tons of roots from just about any modern rock band, alternative or indie, in their discography *somewhere* - ditto for The Beatles, Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Velvet Underground, etc. do too, but I'm not entirely sure I can say that I enjoy most of their work

They're about a million times better live. I got Apple O' last summer because a) I'd heard good things, b) they're friends with Xiu Xiu, and c) they were playing here. I thought the album was pretty cool, but seeing it live was a whole 'nother ballgame. Fuck. It's so weird and crazy live. When we begged for an encore, they played the first song they played again. Check 'em out if you get the chance.

I wish Milk Man was as awesome as Apple O'.

actually that was pretty tough to do, because a lot of bands would come very close but neglected them as either they are too recent or i havent heard enough to judge them. stuff like synth pop and goth rock i left out, as i have been listening to that stuff fairly recently as compared to the bands i listed.

having said that, the cure, HIM and depeche mode would come pretty close. fantastic bands.
