"I hate saying something is a "classic" when it's just been released, but RE 4 is the game every developer is going to rip off over the next five years.." - Hilary Goldstein, IGNXbox

Would people be happy if the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4 looked like that?

*lights fuse*

Nothing new here folks. This game was on Saturn for import years ago. I had it. The story sucked then and its gonna suck now. Think RE if RE sucked and you were stuck on an oil tanker the whole game.

considering darkworks (the developer) have been doing horror games for a while, not really a RE4 clone.

also this was announced months ago.

I played a game similar to this one on my friend's Dreamcast. I can't remember if it's the same name but I it took place in a vessel or some kind. It was a total RE clone.

This game has been in development for two years, well before the "new" RE4 was shown. So save the "RE4 clone" comments.

The team previously did some of the Alone in the Dark games, BTW.

Yeah, apparently, every 3rd person shooter with zombies/demons/monsters is a re4 clone.

RE4 INVENTED THE 3RD PERSON MONSTER SHOOTER GENRE!

Going by the preview code, it looks quite promising. Best "ship in the blizzard effect" ever. I almost got motion sickness first time I played it. And there is nothing worng with the graphics. Sorry.

EDIT: A nice touch was a room half filled with water. The water waves back and forth and if you make an electric cable fall from a panel on one of the wall, you get electrified when the water reaches it. Man, my english is bad today.

I herd this game is about the parasol company making the Y Virus or something.

It might not be that bad, the screens have me semi interested.

I thought the same thing when I looked at the pics. It was called Carrier and I suddenly feel like going back and playing it again for some reason. Even if it was crappy.

Yah it sounds like its going to be pretty cool. It's also one of the rare survival horror games where the enemies actually carry guns with them and aren't just lunging at you to bite you.

RE4 also being another. :D

EDIT: What system is this. Character model looks like that kat from the Dead Aim series. Once upon a time seems this was an RE clone so is this a remake or what?

That's Deep Fear from Sega. And that one did not suck at all...

Carrier, not a bad game either.

Deep Fear introduced shooting whilst running which RE should've adopted. I don't know how many people played the English language version but Dubios voice acting was superb. Also the ending was quite good but the end boss reminded me a lot of RE:CV's end boss (or should that be the other way around).

I think RE:CV came out a good two years after Deep Fear.

The sad thing is, if this were a sequel to Carrier, I'd consider it.

I say we turn this into a Carrier thread. Remember the invisible dudes?

Or the first cutscene after gameplay with the doctor getting infected?

Good times.

RE was nothing but a flagrant Alone in the Dark clone to begin with, and it is not like RE4 has reinvented something. Hello 3D backgrounds! Hello good art!

Heck, if we are going to be protectively anal Cryo's The Devil Inside (a sadly underscored but good game from AitD designer) came years before and had a laser sight.

BTW when this game was announced months ago nobody called it RE4 clone, not on a single thread about it. Funny.

Better than a "HAY GUYS RE4 IS GOOD LET'S LATCH ONTO IT AND CLAIM ANY GAME SIMILAR TO IT (especially those not on the Cube) SUCKS!" thread, anyway

The way the ship moves around is pretty cool. Though if it does that the entire game it could be not so cool.

Outside looks really nice.

Probably not many since Bernie and friends killed the US release. :(

Also, didn't Namco Hometek drop Deep Fear originally (now UbiSoft's picked it up)? Is the game looking to be any good?

He is saved!

Climbing onboard the sinister hulk, McCormick finds the great liner deserted. Why were there not survivors amongst the crew and passenger compliment? Just to clarify Cold Fear is not the sequel to Deep Fear. Deep Fear was set on a submarine station not an oil tanker (or an oil rig) and being stuck on it (and the feeling of claustraphobia) was the actual theme of the game, hence its name. It also added extra elements to the genre by having to use a breathing equipment in flooded areas. Also the enemies were created by the person who designed the aliens in Men In Black.
