Yet another new Project Gotham Racing 3 screen

Why would they post a real picture of some ratty street in New York though? What's the point?
Or, if they're going to do that, not also end up posting a comparison to the render version for the game. (aka, I agree)

I have no doubt believing this a render from PGR3 in-game graphic engine. There's nothing tremendously mindblowing going on here for a game machine with a decent amount of memory and better-than-this-gen texturing and lighting ability. Esp. for a graphics engine being used in a dedicated track racer.

Deal, even though I believed the source (that this is in-game).

dont worry i believe its in game too ...but then again i didnt notice not having depth or whatnot.

It looks a bit too blurry to be real.

then look at the middle stores awning?

My main issue is that the horrible JPG compression could kill lots of details.
Spork: Anybody in is right mind would have quit GAF since a long time ;)

Real life pic with 'straight edges'

You guys are silly. Obcourse that's not a real photo! All the straight edges of surfaces are perfectly straight! I've never seen that in real life.
That's a good point.

i dont see how anyone in their right mind could confuse that shot for real life.
There are some flaws, sure, but you don't think that could be passed off -- at least as a relatively brief glance, which is what many of us in the thread probably gave it -- as a bad photo or a poorly-compressed file (which it may be)?

Disclaimer: I have poor eyesight and am partially color blind, so maybe you're seeing something I'm not.

look at the shadows and look at the bottom left corner.

fuck man look at the shingles on the sign in front.

I'm confident that is in-game. Looks too flat on the surfaces (windows etc.) to be a photo. But it sure it photorealistic on a glance. :)

Now that you mention it... Yeah, I see that! :lol

I think it isn't a real photo. Check out the stucco brick and look at where it meets the red sign to the right. That's a flat texture used to model the brick because the edges don't have detail and gives away the flat look.

I see no reason why that couldn't be in game. It looks doable on current gen hardware after seeing recent titles.

In other news, new PGR3 Screen from Famitsu... Amazing

A GT4 photo area as been perfectly reproduced in PGR3? :lol

How much more powerful is the 360 than the PS2?
I guess I was just expecting a larger leap, photomode or not.
Well, I'd say the scenery at least provides a pretty big leap.

Oli i hope you can send me some of your shit you smoke. What do you expect for next-gen really? Reality? -- go outside! jeez...

Straight edges on a canopy but they went to all the effort to make the 'Eat Inn' and the other Chinese symbols perfectly curved and 3D?

Is that shot on the right a pgr3 shot or gt4 photomode?

Ahhh, what the hell, since we are now discussing whether it's real-life or not (and that's not 360 or PGR3 specific problem, it could be applied to any screenshot that tries to be realistic) here goes my 3D grafix reputation.

Here's what makes me think it's in-game.

2D windows without any depth:
19hl1.jpg

2D awning, 2D window:
26nj.jpg

2D bricks (just a texture):
32mm.jpg

Those tiles are 2D texture:

Now what fooled me thinking this is a real-life photo:

Very realistic soft shadow under that sign:
59cm.jpg

-------------------------------------------------------

Overall: 9.5 out of 10
Very impressive shot that could be very easily mistaken for a photo.
In fact it fooled some people here.

Those are prabably just flat textures bud.

Ben needs to learn some better grammar though. His wording stinks.

It's hard to find pics of that place.
That's it. So it is a photo. Someone get a rope.

Nevermind, looks like I was fooled again. The picture looks exactly like that photo.

Now the question is was it rendered in engine. I definitely doubt it.

Uhh, I hardly doubt any game on the Xbox 360 will be less than 60 FPS.
I think your wrong there. We will see the same problems this new next-gen, as we saw last (this still I guess) gen. Games will have frame drops, look ugly and even crash plenty. :)

It's all up to the budget and talent of the developers.

There is a difference though, anything looks good when you resize it to that size... :)

Edit, haha some people are so dumb in this thread. :lol
