Incredible issue. Can't fault Aja on the art although I can't believe it took so long to come out. Very excited for the next issue, but I'm bummed it all has to end.

If you enjoyed this series, then I highly recommend Mike Grell's run on Green Arrow.

Or mostly any Green Arrow stuff before New 52.

So yeah, issue #22 is out on June 10, apparently. My heart fucking weeps.

Haven't posted here yet, but I just read Hawkeye in the past month after getting an iPad as a gift and giving comics an honest go after trying a few years back to no avail. It's been great this time around and largely because of this series.

Hawkeye is genuine and charming. It's a masterful balance of comedy and drama, it's beautiful to look at, and it's wonderful to read. But here's the thing I really love about it:

Hawkeye broaches the idea that it isn't the mantle of a super hero, but who's under the mask, their experiences, and who they are as a person that's really important. They're not just a "secret identity" and they don't have to lead a mundane life whenever they're not in costume. I've become so very endeared to Clint Barton and Kate Bishop.

This honestly became one of my favorite stories. I'm desperate to see how it ends, but I know Fraction will nail it.

Aww, June 10 feels so far away...

You've just gone mad at this point, haven't you?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I find that link both hilarious and sad at the same time.

Ah well, I was going through my floppies last week and had a chuckle. All of my first-run Hawkguy Fraction/Aja/Wu/Pulido issues #1-21 are bagged, boarded and mint. First-run issues #1-2 of Lemire/Perez are also bagged & boarded though I should probably redeem the digital issues lol.

Just waiting for #22 to drop whenever at this point while I still keep up with the current run.

Finally got around to the LA Woman trade. Fucken love this run. Those lil inner-monologue insets killed me every time. Real cool style, real lovely stories.

Then I come in here to get a handle on what's up next and you're all losing your minds and it sounds like nothing is ever coming out ever again?? ;_;

Fraction's run is finished, #22 just has to be released. There's All New Hawkeye by Jeff Lemire, but it's not the same.

*sniffs*

It ended perfectly and I wouldn't change a thing about the ending at all...

Guess I can focus on All-New Hawkeye now lol.

Also, with this final issue, I have a complete first-run set of this series. I feel oddly accomplished regarding that fact.

Ending hella late, but who cares cuz it was fuckin' great. The plot threads it tied up and left dangling, the happy ending tinged with characteristic bad luck, the callbacks(Boomerang arrow, A/V Cables, collar stay, Clint's twist and snap into the Clown's Eye, "Thank you, Hawkeye" sign language), the framing, the details, the coloring...like how much more effective is this sequence because of simple color choices. The purple throughout the middle, multiple panels breaking it down so you focus on the gun and off of Kate, then a big bloody red with the full horizontal panel, the little line and the blood spurt giving it speed, the red giving it power.

And every single one of its 30 pages are this right and well-designed.

Great run of comics.
