You can't buy a XBOX series x/s in Canada

Is the demand that high? The hat trick of Expedition 33, Oblivion remaster, and the remake of Warhammer (exclusive to Xbox and free on Game Pass) is finally working.

At the new price points, why would anyone? They've effectively withdrawn themselves from the market.
Actually these prices will keep them in the market.

Selling consoles isn't that important to them right now because they can sell games on PS5 , Switch & PC . Selling consoles actually hurts them because they lose so much money each unit but now Xbox consoles are basically for people who really want a Xbox and they are selling them for profit & not for a bigger user-base.

From the moment Phil Spencer did the interview a few years ago saying they was losing $100 to $200 with every Xbox sold I knew they wasn't happy selling consoles anymore.

They would rather sell 10 Xboxes for profit than to sell 100 at a loss.

With sales drying up I figured there would be excess stock of Series consoles all over the place. Where are they all going? 🤔

To be clear, you can actually buy an Xbox in Canada directly through Xbox/Microsoft.

The retailers that still have stock will likely sell what they have and not order anymore, but if you're in Canada and you want an Xbox you can get one. Just have to order one online.

Not a slight against you but I think a lot of people don't know how retail works or at least they don't think about it.

These retailers have pretty limited quantities and central warehouse depots also have pretty limited quantities. The first thing you'll see is local retail start to dry up and when corporate retailers aren't putting in orders for fulfilment, you're going to run out of warehouse supply pretty quickly.

Sony has been stockpiling supply and they said they have three months worth of supply. What they mean by that is based on retail demand, they'll be able to supply retailers for 3 months, not consumers, but retailers.

Exactly, retailers aren't going to buy Xboxes that are going to sit on shelves unsold.

If you raise the price of an XSX from 500 dollars to 650 dollars, yeah, you'll still find someone willing to buy the inventory you have, but the question is how long can you sustain that.

It'll be VERY interesting to see the Circana reports next month and the month after, because what I suspect is that Microsoft has done a soft discontinuation of Xbox hardware.

Did Europe get restocked when they ran out some months ago? Might be MS no longer building them unless they receive an order slowing everything down.

It's listed on Amazon Canada, but it's completely out of stock, except Series S, which there's 1 left of as of this typing.

I assume this is the exact same "goes out of stock and stays out of stock for weeks if not months" phenomenon we have seen occur with Xbox stock across Europe and Asia over the last year or so. It wouldn't surprise me if the little stock that is being produced still largely goes to the U.S. at this point.

It's getting increasingly difficult to find one here in Sweden too. So... what's happening? Are they simply starting to discontinue the Series X/S generation already? Would be very interesting to hear how many units they're producing right now, if any.
