The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
If the creature they encountered on the planet was Gary Mitchell(Just finished watching the TOS ep: Where No Man Has Gone Before). Energy field, outside of the galaxy... entombed on a planet.. it would have been a nice tie back to the original series... Gary would be pissed off at Jim and all of humanity for leaving him there.... by then he could have mutated to the power level we saw of the creature in the movie(can project itself, etc..).

Oh well... VI sucked... and we didn't get a rock creature. :(

There is only 1 thing that could ahve made Star Trek 5 good.

If Spock hadn't gone on camping trip.

Kirk = Splat

If it didn't exist.

The odd #'rd ones exist for a purpose... so that we can enjoy the even numbered ones... too bad Next Gen Nemesis f*cked up the rotation....

Star Trek: Nemesis
Star Trek: First Contact
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

vs.

Star Trek: Insurrection
Star Trek Generations
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
Star Trek III: The Search For Spock
Star Trek: The Motion Picture

I have a soft spot for Motion Picture though....

This quote and "Noooooooo", from ROTS has got me perplexed beyond belief. WTF is wrong with this line. If you say Shatners delivery then sure, but people seem to rag on it as if the word suck. I thought it was a very cleaver way to make a point. The alien is like i'm God bring the ship closer, and Kirk states the obvious. I actually think it's one of the best lines of any Star Trek movie.

It's not so much the line, but the fact that it represents the retarded story of Star Trek V.

Hang out with Steve.
I liked Search for Spock and Generations.
Final Frontier and Insurrection sucked, Nemesis wasn't much better.
The Motion Picture would have been better if they'd cut back on the 30 minutes it spends with the crew staring in awe at the stuff built up around V'ger.
The rest are great.

I think McCoy said it. I may be wrong.

And I don't think it's a particularly terrible line. It does, however, illustrate how bad the film's plot is:

Handful of geeks manage to take control of the Enterprise. Why?
Uhura has to get naked and dance to distract geeks. Why?
Enterprise is magically staffed by 15 people. Why?
Scotty knocks himself out on a bulkhead. Why?
God needs a starship. Why?

(Is it possible both Kirk and McCoy said this line?)

Kirk said it.

Why do you call them geeks? Interstellar Hobos would be more accurate. :p

I think they both said it. If I remember correctly, McCoy said it first, then he got hit by a lightning bolt or whatever, and then Kirk says "Why don't you answer his question - what does God need with a starship?"

Have you seen the Director's Edition? It actually gets rid of a chunk of that footage.
