It's that time of the year.
Let's do this. Take a look back and reminisce. Games you stuck with till the end.
Skip the dropped and abandoned like I did if you feel there are too many due to subscriptions.
In order of appearance:
Lake - a game for 13-year-old girls. Don't ask.
Cyberpunk 2077 - Proper finishing all side arcs and the campaign I semi-dropped in 2020 cause I couldn't fucking take it any longer. At the current state, it's TOTALLY OK. Not enough to wash the taste off playing 90 hrs of it on launch tho.
SIFU - PLAT. Best kung fu combat brawler EVER, true modern beat'em up.
Elden Ring - PLAT. 320+ hrs later wtf. GAME OF THE YEAR.
FAR: Changing Tides - Zen gaming. One of indie highlights of 2022.
Trek to Yumi - charming presentation but falls flat due to wonky combat, ultimately forgettable
Ghostwire Tokyo - some good ideas not enough to make up for a lackluster barren open world. Mid-range.
Returnal - Tower of Sysiphus DLC - PLAT, AWESOME expansion to my 2021 GOTY, nuff said.
INSIDE - 1000/1000 gamepass replay.
Horizon Forbidden West - Low key hated it despite 89hrs on the clock, how the hell did that happen? I mean it was barely alright. 2017 game rehash adding nothing of significance to the original, making it worse by a painful upgrade system, insufferable self narration and horrible climbing. Maybe I wasn't ready for another open world of this size after Elden Ring. Maybe I'm still not ready.
Martha is Dead - An actually good walking sim thriller, wow.
Thymesia 1000/1000 - Amazing indie soulslike underrated banger. Rough around the edges but totally worth it. Challenging, satisfying sekiro meets bloodborne vibes.
The Ascent DLC - 1000/1000 Good to see you back indent.
Stray - PLAT - I love the pussy but that ain't no GOTY pussy man.
The Last of Us Part 1 - PLAT. All over again. Happy it exists, now PS5 HD P2, please.
MoonScars - no joke great metroidvania, genre's best entry of 2022. Don't miss it if you liked Blasphemous.
SCORN - 1000/1000 - Proves the point for gamepass. Remarkable, weird, slow and just different. Love it or hate it, imo essential.
Plague Tale: Requiem - Not the AAA step up over the original I expected. The environments look nice but overall a letdown. Good story, great voice acting, copy - paste last gen gameplay.
Signalis 1000/1000 - The best videogame story of 2022. An amazing survival horror, exceeding all expectations. On pair with timeless classics of the genre.
RE: Village DLC - Piss poor DLC to a very mediocre RE game.
Return to Monkey Island - Best point and click I played in 2022. The only point and click I played in 2022.
God of War: Ragnarok - PLAT @ 96 hours. This is PS 1st party AAA. A perfect sequel to an incredible game. Absolutely loved it.
Somerville - Great art but the rest is all jank. Hoped for so much more.
Endling - Nicely crafted indie furry game that released on the same day as Stray so nobody noticed.
Pentiment - TL : DR. Very well written.
Callisto Protocol - PLAT. A painful one. I'm not done here.
