Have you ever had a game that was installed on your PC so long, that you played so much, that you thought you'd never not have installed?
I can only think of one in my case right now, and that is Starcraft. I played the hell out of that game in undergrad school, especially since the neighbors all played too, so the lameness of a crappy public game wasn't quite as prevalent. Now, a few years and a few formats of my hard drives later, I haven't had it installed for a long time, and I don't really feel like it either.
Right now, I'm thinking that BF1942 is in the position that Starcraft once held. Sure, the mods are great, and many are still works in progress, but eventually they will stop working on them. BF2 will possibly replace it for me, assuming I've got a better PC by then, and then it will occupy that spot of ubiquity for me.
