I need a new camera, looking to spend like £250 tops, what's my options? [/thread hijack]

Oh, Ixus 40, 4Megapixel. very handy camera and a reasonable price. cheaper than the sony cybershot and imo even better

Nice shots of the concert. I haven't taken many low light shots. Terrible handshake + blur cause I'm too lazy to change to a higher iso. What's the noise like at full size? The vietnam shots looks like they could use a tad more contrast.

Here's my fix + some more images

Is it just me, or in that cafe pic are they sitting on a fairly steep slope? It just seems kind of steep for all of the cups to be staying on the table. Is it something in the way the picture was taken?

Nice pics. Not sure what they make me envy more; the camera or the locations.

for a while I didn't know what to make of the camera, I'd expected something absolutely polished visually out of the camera but I was shocked at how ugly some shots were.. then I used it more and got better. Its a DSLR so you have to learn to use it properly, like a real SLR. This is no Point and shoot. I'm so glad I bought it though. I take it out with me everyday and take shots of just crap. I have 2x 1gig cards so it takes a bit of work to fill them up. Its not portable like a P+S but I have a big bag :)

The slope is actually not that steep but it slopes a bit. Sydney is boootiful :)

250 pounds? Try the Fuji FinePix S5000. "design and handling are on par with cameras twice the price" - digital camera world.

All from Spain last year on my old Sony Cybershot DSC-P5 (Sorry about the size, didn't want them that big, what's the best way to resize?) I'll Just leave the links (copy/paste) for most of them to avoid overkill.

Thanks for the recommendation, but it seems to take AA batteries, I despise AA batteries.

Li-ion battery is where I wanna head. How about the Fuji F610 or Sony DSC-P100?

try this site : www.dcresource.com for reviews. or www.dpreview.com. Looks around, read a bit and it should help.

Beautiful. These look really nice on my LCD. Why is it that so many of these places look so much more... modern than American cities? I'm jealous. :(

...unless you're a vegetarian, what's the big deal?

These are the same animals they grind up and inject into the hotdogs you eat. People really need to appreciate where their food comes from more.

I really want to emphasize that these were taken when my digital camera was brand-spankin' new, so I was still pretty uncomfortable with it and how the settings worked. I was coming off of some *ancient* Mavica, so I wasn't used to having as much control as my Powershot S60 gives me.

Anyway, the few good shots from my summer weekend in Chicago, resized to 640x480 so I don't break the forum tables:

Yep, Shenzhen, China. Sometimes we take trips to the Mainland, because it's very cheap there. One of those chickens costs 2 Yuan which is less than 0,30 US...and despite their look they are really delicious.

Slightly cheating since I photoshopped it, but I did take the picture with my crappy Kodak CX6200. Still, the photoshop adds something to it I think. I'm thinking of buying a camera with my bonus this month, is Canon the way to go for a good, middle range camera?

Edit: Some more I found on my hard drive.

I love these threads.
Here's a pair I took taking the train home from downtown Chicago. The window tint gives a very somber hue to these particular shots.

This is using my sister's old Olympus... she has a newer HP camera which I can use on rare occasions, it gets excellent zoom on things. I'll show more if these go over well...
