KCD2.

Didnt played E33...because I dont want. Game did nothing to me. Didnt like the art style, never liked japanese turn base tactics...where everyone stands around like a clown and than does some super awesome amazing crazy ultra attack move. Terrible. Hope this is not becoming the next trendchasing trend. :messenger_grimmacing_

But kudos to all who liked it and if it gets GOTY I am happy with that as well. Its just not my game. :messenger_peace:

Blue Prince deserves a spot on the options to choose from, so far that's my GOTY. Even though I'm getting a bit fatigued from the slow progression the concept is really cool.

Hoping Donkey Kong will be the actual GOTY and give me a reason to need a Switch 2.

KCD2 came out very and it is not vivid anymore in ppl heads, scope and execution are top notch, 33 is awesome but KCD2 is on another level.

Yeah I am going with Clair Obscur easily for many numerous reasons. They are the ones most deserving because of how everything come together in some weird black magic miracle in a few ways per its history.

Honestly has earned it, all of us here can respect that because of seeing such a rarity of events.

The only current-year game that I've played is Civ VII (290 hours) and so far is:

I haven't played a lot of the games on the list and I'm just starting Claire obscure but so far the most fun game for me this year has been doom. It's just pure action and dumb fun but fun nonetheless.

Expedition 33.

I haven't played Death Stranding 2 yet. Death Stranding 1 was and is one of my all-time favorite games, so that could potentially change it. But I think it'd have to be fantastic to topple Expedition 33.

Clair Obscure for sure

It has the graphics, art style, music, and passion from a developer that is a real gamer. This is how this business should work

Im still a long way to go with DS2, but even at this point I can clearly say, DS2 is looking like a game of the year and it is the best looking and best atmosphere of a game this generation. Dual sense use is also excellent. And the game is so much fun, excellent game play, good story, very cerebral and so much fun world building, deliveries, and allot of combat options.

You can't criticise how bad a game is without thoroughly testing. That's why I say Souls games are trash after thousands of hours in the genere UuU
I respect my free time too much to invest 290 hours to then feel my opinion is somehow more justified or valuable to claim a piece of entertainment is trash than someone who tries 2-3 hours.

Spoiler: no one, including GAF or even your loved ones, give a shit what games you think are good or bad. Subjecting yourself past the point of being aware something is bad means you're either a masochist or it's nowhere near as bad you think because it had to be good enough to draw your attention that long.

Über spoiler: I don't care what GAF or my loved ones think of my opinions either. I'm just a librarian of the trash, a connoisseur of the mediocrity and the absolute king of the right opinions.

Sorry fellas, I'm just not feeling it with Clair Obscur. It's a pretty game with gorgeously rendered environments, excellent soundtrack, solid voice acting and some neat twists on the familiar turn based JRPG battle system....and yet I'm still finding it a chore to slog through and really not all that compelling. Granted I'm only at the stone cliffs area so presumably there's a lot more to come - and maybe it gets way better later - but right now it's not even close to my personal game of the year, let alone best of the decade or whatever gushing praise it's gotten since launch.

(and the whole marketing angle of "look how these scrappy upstart indie developers managed to make a triple A quality blockbuster with a fraction of the team and budget of the big industry players" is a nice story, but when you look at the actual funding behind Sandfall it becomes the game development equivalent of Trump bragging about how he built his business with just a "small multimillion dollar loan" from his dad.)

Easily Expedition 33. Mario Kart World is in second.

Though I imagine that there's at least a chance one or both get unseated by Metroid Prime 4.
