Youtuber claims his credible source with no facts says 2K will announce NFL2K at E3

Simfballcritic is well known and respected in the sim football community on Youtube. I'm just curious as to whether or not anyone else has heard anything like this?

As far as I know and according to this...

http://www.pastapadre.com/2014/01/28/ea-has-the-nfl-license-secured-for-at-least-a-few-more-years

EA still has it locked up for a bit longer. In the video he mentions how the source is saying the deal EA has is no longer to make the only NFL exclusive title. Insinuating the deal is something else entirely.

Finding this hard to believe and I won't hold my breath. Madden needs competition. EA have made minimal(I want to say none from a gameplay standpoint but that would be a lie)changes to the overall mechanics and Madden still looks and feels like an arcade game than simulation football.

I'm not buying it. Doesn't EA still have the NFL license?

EDIT: Besides, I don't think EA would negotiate a non exclusivity deal, especially when Madden is a steady source of income. I doubt they want the possibility of 2K blowing them out the water like they did with the NBA.

Do the same people that made the football games back in the day still work at 2K (Visual Concepts is no longer around, right?)?

I could actually see EA losing the exclusivity license. Madden sales have gone down dramatically over the past few years which can make neither EA or the NFL happy. A new extension doesn't necessarily mean an extension of exclusivity - the whole silence from both EA and the NFL in regards to whatever extension was ironed out is bizarre in itself.

That said yeah its not happening.

All Pro Football 2k15

lulz

edit: actually, with all the expansion in user-generated content over the years, and things like second screens, kinect, etc., maybe the customization options from that game could be more fleshed out.

I hope.....

EA extended their license use for the NFL, and NFLPA, but there has not been word if they extended the exclusivity deal

This is an announcement that only could be topped by HL3...
EA just went an entire console generation without delivering a madden as good as '06, which is a real downer for football fans.

If true, this is huge

Ugh. Don't feed my hope.

So

NFL2kK might be back
Rainbow Six might be back
Halo 2 might be back

Did I just travel to the past or something

Praise the Gaming Gods

I'd love to see a yearly NFL game replace Madden, Unless there is a genuine difference in gameplay and features though there likely isn't room for two NFL licensed annuals, I don't feel like the market would bear it.

I'm putting my money on false.

Xbox One is the new Xbox 1!

Anyway could they announce a football game for next year, this year? I dont think they would have anything for this year but could they could out and say "NFL2k is returning in 2015"

If EA lost their license, that wouldn't be kept secret. That doesn't just affect 2k. There are plenty of other companies that would want to make NFL games like Blitz or Street.

The NFL is very much about exclusivity deals and huge contracts for their brand now so I'm gonna guess this is false.

E. Snowden would have leaked this by now if it were true.

I want to believe. Possible that EA no longer has exclusivity which opens the door for a new game next year on next gen. Competition is what the fans need.

Such a strange thing that is too. You would think in a sport that's driven by competition, the NFL would express that in every way possible.

Not happening. Rumors of the NFL license have swirled for now over 10 years. EA has not lost exclusivity. Maybe 2K will be making a football game, but it's not going to be an officially licensed NFL game.

I also wonder ... who of the original 2K team even still works at 2K.

Yeah, it's been consistent with the NFL for years though. They've always just licensed one manufacturer for most NFL items, jerseys, hats, shoes, official beer sponsor, etc. The NFL places a higher premium on quality than they do on price wars. This issue actually played into the 2K Sports vs. EA contract back in 2005 as well, as 2K Sports had sold NFL 2K for $20 the year before, and the NFL felt that they were putting their sponsorship on a bargain-tier product. THis issue, and others, brought the NFL to the negotiating table with EA after EA had unsuccessfully bid for the contract in 2003.

If 2k signed a deal for the nfl license I think we'd have heard of it by now. I stil think that 2k could carve out a niche by releasing a super customizable game based on their engine and sold it for $20-30, especially if they upgraded it to have NBA level of eye candy.

Hmmm I thought Andrew Wilson announced they locked up the deal. This would be huge if true but I find it hard to trust a youtube dude.

The nfl likes to have products be the single, exclusive XXX of the NFL, whether it's beer, or game consoles, or shit even pizza. They don't license themselves out to both papa johns and dominoes. They probably look at video games the same way. We only need one.

Wouldn't matter for the first game if true. They've been out of the game for years so their first effort may not even be as good as Madden is. The team that made 2k5 so great may not even be there anymore. It would be like getting excited for a new Perfect Dark game made by Rare.

Nope, nope, nope, not going to believe it.

But if it does exist...At least puts Johnny Manziel on the cover.
Instant profit.

Would be my favourite news of E3. License or not, just bring it to PC and let the community mod in the rosters, which people are still doing for Madden 08, and I'm very thankful for that!

Everytime i read one of these rumors my heart sinks a little because I know theres no way itll happen...but my god if it did talk about E3 Announcement of the forever(for me at least) lol
